Since I started taking Metoprolo my wife complains about my breath smelling bad. Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do about it. ## This is not listed as a known side effect of the drug, so you may want to speak to your doctor to rule out other factors causing this. It could be anything from excess stomach acid, acid reflux to tooth decay.

My mother has been on Eliquis for several months. Lately she complains of leg muscles that get tired and she can not walk. She is alo having dizziness and can't sleep. She is 86 and has afib. ## Hi Connie, Sorry to hear about your mother's condition. Based on my research, the drug monograph for Eliquis (apixaban) does list "dizziness" as well as "swelling or joint pain" as possible side effects. Has she reported experiencing any type of pain when her legs get tired from walking? The FDA actually recommends telling your doctor if you have any kind of side effect(s) that bother you or do not go away. So that sounds like it may be her best bet when it comes to taking the next step for assistance in the matter. Perhaps the doctor may suggest trying something else and...

My daughter has abdomen TB and is now taking Akt4 from 1 month. She complains of pain in the back, stomach and legs. R these due to the tablets? How can I reduce her pain? Kindly advice! ## AKT-4 kit is an anti-tuberculosis drug containing the following ingredients: ethambutol + isoniazid + pyrazinamide + rifampicin. Based on my research, it sounds to me like every single active ingredient could be causing the type of pain she's describing... - Ethambutol lists stomach pain as a side effect - Isoniazid lists stomach pain or tenderness as a serious side effect - Pyrazinamide lists upset stomach as a side effect - Rifampicin lists stomach cramps; muscle weakness; pain in the arms, hands, feet, or legs; and joint pain or swelling as a serios side effect. With that said, your best bet w...

I gave ofloxocin and acecloplus to my patient with dental pain and abscess but he complains increase in pain following consumption of tablets ## I find the same thing when I have infections in my mouth and I take any antibiotics. I assumed it was because its fighting the bacteria, therefore irritating it temporarily. I have no medical basis to this. I'm only sharing my experience and assumption. Also- Smoking also seemed to irritate it further when on antibiotics. So if your patient is a smoker I'd suggest not smoking for a few hours after taking the tablet.

my 16 yrea old granddaughter is on amphetamine salt com 20 mg tablet. She constantly complains about being sleepy (teachers complain also) has anyone else experienced this symptom? ## Yes, in some people certain medications can cause the opposite symptoms of what they should. It could be because the medication just doesn't work properly for her or she may be on too high of a dosage. Has anyone spoken to her doctor about this? ## YES I HAVE AND MY DOCTOR TOLD ME IT WAS DUE TO MY DOSE BEING TO HIGH. ONCE CUT IN HALF I DID MUCH BETTER. ONE OF THOSE TIME LESS IS MORE.

My daughter aged 5 was prescribed purbac for tonsilitis. Is this proper? ## My 4 year old son complains of ear pain. Do u recomend purbac without doctor prescription ## This is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of bacterial infections, so it is best to follow the doctor's instructions. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Can I use purbac for tonsillitis?

My brother takes 30 mg morphine tablets by prescription every 12 hours. He complains that he is in pain all of the time anyway, even though they are better than the norco 10 mg that he was taking before. My sister-in-law takes norco 10 mg, 6 per day, and he has been begging her to give him 2 - a - day to take in between his morphine. He has, of course, not told his doctor. I want to know what combining these two will do to him? Thanks ## Well, first of all, it would be illegal for her to give them to him and for him to take them, since they are not prescribed for him. Both of them, if caught, could face heavy fines and jail time. Now, if he did take them, since he's opiate tolerant, he would most likely just experience more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness and drowsiness, as ...

My husband has Narcolepsy and has started taking Nuvigil. He has been on Methadone for almost two months now.H e complains that he feels bad by evening time. Is it one of the drugs or mixing them? He also takes Vivactil and Ritalin. He feels jittery, tired and nausated. Please help. ## Speaking from personal experience... Ritalin and Provigil didn't mix for me. Granted that was Provigil. I've recently started Nuvigil, and can not tell if I am having holiday anxiety or a reaction to my Nuvigil. My feeling is slight pressurized headache, tightness in chest, mild vision blur, very pressurized feeling in chest and sides of throat and anxiety. Checked my BP and is 180/80. Norm for me is around 130/85 w/bistolic. He may want to monitor his BP if he's feeling tired and nauseous ## ...

My mother is 79 and doctor said her potassium was a little low so he prescribed her potassium chloride 20meq tablets but now she complains of odiarrea so I cut them in half to where she's only taking half a pill a day now. Is this OK? ## Hello, Deb! How is your mom doing? No, these tablets should not be cut. Potassium can be very irritating to the stomach and GI tract, so they are coated to release slowly over time to help prevent that. It would be best to speak to her doctor about prescribing the lower dose tablets. Stomach pain is the most common side effect, as listed by the FDA. Is she on any other medications? ## Well my mother is better but for the couple of days that she was taking potassium she had diahrea so that's why I started cutting them in half and only giving half...

I'm worried about my friend. She takes percocets and usually gets the ones that say 512. However sometimes she gets other kinds and complains about there not as good so she takes more. I know percocets have tylenol in them and i am worried about her overdosing on tylenol or the oxycodone in it. How much is to much? Also she usually don't take them all at once but she will take alot throughout the day. Today she got some that some that said 325Mg on one side and L403 on the other and she took 6 in like 2 hrs cause she felt little effects. I just worry about her. Please help me!!! ## Well, first off, the L403 were not Percocets. In fact, they dont even contain oxycodone. They are just plain Tylenol. Tylenol DOES NOT have barely any high effects to it at all. My husband is taking various medications for hypertension and cholesterol; he has also been prescribed Paracetamol for arthritic pain. However, he complains that if he takes Paracetamol it makes him sleepy and also causes retching (bile). Is this a common reaction, and if so which painkiller would be suitable for his arthritis? ## Yes, those can be normal side effects of Paracetamol/Acetaminophen, he may also experience headache and stomach irritation. It's really difficult to know what else he could take, without knowing the other medications he is on. There are some that should not be taken with other medications, or if he has any heart concerns, with his high blood pressure. Has he consulted his doctor? They would be best able to advise him on what he can use safely. ## Paracetam...

my father takes the following medicine Oleanz RT 10(olanzapline), estopam-10(escitalopam oxalate tablets), cap. preganerve-m(Preagabalin with mecobalamin) he complains of heavy head and lays on bed all day.kindly suggest something to help in releif. ## Has he consulted his doctor? Generally, it's not recommended to try to treat possible side effects with another medication, because they all carry the risk of causing side effects, so you can just end up compounding the problem. The Olanzapine is an antipsychotic and it is well known to cause these types of side effects, so it may be the culprit. He really needs to speak to his doctor, because it may be too high of a dosage for him and he may require a switch to a lower dosage or a different medication. Both the Escitalopram and the P...

Athletes help??? ## Hello, Billy! How are you and your friend? I'm not an athlete, but I can tell you that Risperdal can cause some very problematic side effects, as listed by the FDA, such as severe somnolence and weight gain, so it can really slow the body down and make it harder to maintain stamina and good physical function. Other side effects may possibly include drowsiness, sedation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I...

my daughter was perscribed this for a possible UTI for 10 days she is only 3 years old and complains that it hurts when she pees, do you know how long thiswill take to work and for her pain to go away? ## What medication was she prescribed? You didn't mention it, or post this under a specific medication forum. I'm assuming it's an antibiotic and they can take a few days to start working and for the pain to ease.
