I we was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 years ago, her2 positive. I went thru chemo, radiation and hercepton treatments. I was put on arimidex daily and the side effect is constant back pain. I'm on medcare (obamacare) and see my oncologist once a year. I occasionally take my husbands 10/325 hydros (he"s had 5 back surgerys) and they definatly work (2 or 3 on a bad day). I have medicade, does anyone know of a Dr in Vegas that will prescribe these? Thank you for any help ## Hello, Valerie! How are you? Have you consulted your doctor about this issue? Arimidex can also cause bone fractures, so you need to have this checked out to be certain of what's going on.

Will it help with the depression caused by Tomilfin(sp), and not cause weight gain? Also with the cancer meds I am getting hot flashes and bad headaches. Do you have any information on this ## I took Tamoxifen for 5 years along with Effexor XR. The effexor actually helps with hot flashes! I had a positive experience with the combination. Effexor XR will not increase your appetite or make you fat. ## I know exactly what you are going through because I also experienced heavy sweating and hot flashes right after I began Tamoxifen for my breast cancer follow up treatment. I too was going in and out depressions but I didn't associate it with the Tamoxifen because I've had issues with depressions prior to the use of this medication. I was prescribed Effexor to help with the sweats and...

I have breast cancer and going through chemo, I have not tolerated it well, my chemo plan is ACT,the side effects have been horrible and I have to work, I was hospitalized for staph and a blood infection, my oncologist decided to cut my chemo dose in half to help with all these side effets. Im on the last drug which is taxoen or something like that, but I am having alot of bone pain which I cant hardly take and I have to work and my oncologist will not prescibe me any narcotics, I have heard from many people that taking clartin-D along with a pain med immensely makes the bone pain better but my dr only tells me to take the claritn D which does nothing for me. How can I get some pain meds to get me through this last stage of chemo so I can work and not want to crawl in bed and stay there...

I'm finishing a 7 day, 3 X a day, 500 mg dose of flagyl/metronidazole because I was having pain under the right side of my ribs, abdominal tenderness and I have a lump on the right side of my back which the doc said was muscular. My worst symptoms of the meds were some unsteadiness and abdominal pains (I didn't call my Dr.), now I'm having a few headaches. Does it cause brain cancer, because I read it is carcinogenic? ## If it did cause such an issue, it would not occur that fast. Cancer is generally slow growing. It is most likely just due to the side effects of the medication, which the FDA does list as including headaches, along with nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, and stomach pain. However, it never hurts to have such an issue checked out by your doctor to be sure. Are you ...

Our dog was diagnosed with bone cancer and given 6 months to live. The DR. prescribed 100 mg of RIMADYL for him. [sheep dog] 9 1/2 yrs and 50 mg of Tramadol. I also take Tramadol for back pain. The DR. just said to give him 2 RIMADYL A DAY and not to specific on the TRAMADOL 1 to 3 or 4 a day. I don't want to over medicate him or under medicate him. He isn't complaining at all yet. He is like one of our kids and wan't to give him as much pain free time he has left. How do we know when to give him more or less pills as time goes on, and is their any other substitute meds that doesn't cost $80.00 dollars as rimadyl does for a months worth of pills. Thank You ## Carol, to be quite honest with you, while I am very knowledgeable on the use of medications in humans and have ac...

My step dad completed treatment with Harvoni last year and was given the all clear on his Hep C, but 2 days later was diagnosed with MDS. He was going through chemo, hydration and blood transfusions, and recently underwent a bone marrow transplant. He wasn't doing well (fluid build up/adema), and on the 25th went to the ICU, and shortly after, into cardiac arrest. He's now on a ventilator, propofol, fentanyl, and on continuous dialysis. He was gone for 8 minutes. Today, they will be doing an MRI and a lumbar puncture. They want to try to wean him off the meds and take the vent out and see how he does, as when they do the "sedation vacation" in the mornings, he's awake and agitated but not really coherent. The only thing that makes me have hope, is that he is at the R...

Can this drug cause some one to bruise on any part of thier body. The patient is taking meds for pais with cancer. ## Neurontin contains the active ingredient Gabapentin, it is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain. It is possible that the bruising can be due to the Neurontin, but with such a medical condition, I am sure they are also on other medications/treatments, so it is very important that the patient's doctor be consulted to determine the problem. Is there anything else I can help with?

Are there any small cell lung cancer survivors that have done the immunotherapy? My boyfriend has sclc, tumor in 1 lung and lympnodes making surgery not an option. I'm having to research for options because no Dr has options other than radiation and chemo treatments which almost killed him because his AFib was ignored as was the BP meds he was taking we weren't warned and his BP dropped down to 60?/40? Could barely get a reading at his Dr. Just can't find a caring oncologist here in Tn.

Hi, I have severe gastroparesis for 5 years now. I’ve been through tubes, pics, ports, pyloroplasty and Botox. I asked my dr if I could try emend and she gave the okand the script. I have to say, emend plus zofran was the best anti nausea and barfing control that I’ve ever had! I was so happy! But, it’s $20 for 3 pills!! I can’t afford this because of all my other meds as well. Could I get it in IV form and administer it to myself with my drs approval? Also if you get it for Iv, do you get more than 3 days worth at a time? Or more pills for the high copays? Thank you so much! Wendy ## it is used to treat severe forms of nausea, so yes, it can be taken by people who do not have cancer. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, drowsin...

I have been on Linzess for over a year now, and happy enough with the results. I had been covered through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NC. There was NO problem getting the rx filled. Now I am covered through BC/BS of Minnesota. I received a letter denying the rx stating that I am not eligible because I don't suffer from active cancer pain! What the heck are they talking about?!?! Has anyone else run into this kind of issue with their insurance?? ## Appeal it and they might. Your doctor may have to do a prior auth, but I would fight it. I have before with other meds and other insurance and it works. ## Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I have already appealed and I have still been denied. ## That is very odd, since Linzess is used to treat IBS with constipation, and idiopathic chroni...

I need to travel to Washington state from California next month because my sister has cancer and I will be providing her care for 2 months. I will need to fill my prescriptions for Methadone 5mg and Percocet 5mg. Will I be able to fill it there? ## Diane, I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate duty to come.As your aware both Percocet and methadone are highly regulated narcotics. It is highly unlikely an out of state pharmacy will fill these without a advance communication between your prescribing PHYSCIAN and the drug store of your choice.Even with that pharmacists have the option to fill or not depending on their judgement. Sadly most will not but please make all attempts ahead of time so your not left without your medication. Wish I could be of more assistance to you. ## Since I ...

Hi I'm a stage 4 cancer patient. My doctor recently retired after 5 years without telling any of his patients! So right now I'm very stuck without a doctor and I'm looking for a compassionate doctor that can help me with my meds? I've had 7 surgeries and lots of organs remove ECT so I've been taking various pain medications and need some help please get back to me ASAP I would really appreciate it! Thank you. ## Hi. Gina speaking. I witnessed my friend giving his wife a supplement called Co-enzyme Q-10 2 times a day in capsule form, 30mg with juice in the morning and at night with juice. She had a brain tumor. He gave her this for almost nine weeks. He and I both noticed how this visible tumor on her forehead kept getting smaller. At about week 8, her MRI revealed th...

my husband has cancer and also has severe back pain due to many surgeries. He has taken 3 80 ml oxy three times a day. He was recently put on hospice and changed to 2 20 ml methadon twice a day and 1 once a day plus 30ml oxy for breakthrough. He dosent seem to be getting the relief he needs but the nurse insist that is plenty. He also seems to be suffering from withdrawals. Should I be concerned with the dosage change of his meds? ## Yes, if he's not getting adequate pain relief, then of course you should be concerned. There is no reason for them to restrict him, if he has a possibly terminal illness, the DEA doesn't even recommend such for those with possibly terminal cancer. It has been proven, via various studies detailed by the NIH, that it does not hasten death, but provide...

i have severe hot&cold flashes with high blood pressure, freezing, sweating, weakness and shakes ## I had the same symptoms in my early twenties; although, I never verified the high blood pressure at the time. I was subsequently diagnosed with hypoglycemia(sp?). I withdrew sugar completely from my diet--no small feat for me--for about two years and made sure I drank a glass of milk mixed with high protein powder every day (watch out for calories!). My symptoms completely disappeared. Taking sugar completely out of your diet may be a little too much for you, but in my case, the symptoms were severe and occured frequently. I suggest you see a doctor first. OR If you are nearing menopause, as I am at this point in my life, the very same symptoms apply, also. I had breast cancer about 12 y...

My daughter had extensive surgery on her knee and Dr. has prescribed various pain meds but they cause nausea and she throws them up. Is there any new ones that might work that we can ask Dr. for, she's in a lot of pain. ## Hi, Peggy! How is she feeling? Virtually all strong pain medications can cause nausea, just due to how they affect the body. It would really make more sense for the doctor to prescribe her something to prevent the nausea. There are several good, strong prescription options available that are used for such a purpose. For instance, cancer patients often get severe nausea and vomiting from their treatments and can suffer severe weight loss, so a good preventative medication is needed.

Hi All, I just want to ask if anyone ever tried using medical cannabis as an alternative to meds? I suffer from a motorcycle accident and had a broken tibial plateau. I've undergone 2 surgeries, the first was bone grafting and they get some bones on my hip and put it on the crushed part of my tibial. Then they put some titanium plating on my broken bone. I had to endure 6 months of pain and anxiety. So I started reading articles about medical cannabis and how it can help you in terms of chronic pain, glaucoma, eating disorder, anxiety disorders and panic attacks, inflammation, even cancer and a lot more. CBD and THC are also new to me and I don’t even smoke. If this is true I cant find any solid conclusive evidence that speaks to its efficacy. Any personal experience or testim...

My oncologist thinks I take too much pain meds, 130 mg MS Contin , dilaudid 4mg, and Percocet for break through pain every 4 hours. The MS Contin is 2 times daily. After I take the MS Contin I start getting breakthrough pain about 1 1/2 hours. He said there is no way I can take that and be awake. Had to sign contract no one else can prescribe me pain meds. And I have to be subjected to drug panels to make sure I'm taking them! Hell yes I Am taking them. I just want some reliefs so my QoL will be better and I can live before I die. ## Hello, Mack64! Some advice I can give you is to not specifically ask for any 'specific medication' when you see a new doctor. Make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical records with you. Then, the best approach is to discuss up front and honestly what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. Most doctors will...

I have degenerative disc disease of the neck and back with cracks in my neck and 3 bulging discs also in my neck. I also have fibromyalgia and at the moment a broken ankle. I'm having the worst time trying to find a pain management specialist who prescribes pain medicine anymore. They have different guidelines now where they don't even prescribe anything for you. Does anyone know of a good pain management specialist who doesn't give a crap about the DEA or follows the guidelines but if someone needs the pain medication they will actually give the pain medication? Some doctors are actually turning cancer patients down now! I know the DEA has guidelines but I don't even think they meant for the doctors to do that. They're just thinking about losing their license if they p
