If any one can tell me where to get some over the counter I would be very grateful thank you. ## There are actually quite a few people asking about this product here in the forum. From what I could gather, if it is still available, you do have to go to Germany to obtain it (and may even have to get a prescription for it there). And after having read more details, other users are suggesting that it could even be banned by now. Below is a response from another user in the forums who states that it is currently banned: "If this helps, X112 was taken off the market. It was banned from several countries because, as that one person correctly said, it was a form of speed. That's why it was illegal for millitary to take. When I was stationed in Germany in 1999, it was not over the count...

I am keeping this brief: I have been taking Effexor for 3 months. I only take 75 mg. I have Major Dep and have tried many different meds for it. I am extremely sensitive to antidepressants and their side effects. So much so that I can't even go above 75mg per day. So here is me of Effexor: it helped right away. It was the best med for Dep I have taken so far. It is powerful and seems to hit the spot with me. I felt calmer, more alert, and all around happier- for about 2 months. Then the side effects started to get bad. When I first started on it, I had one or two Side Efx- excessive thirst, sweating. They were minor and a fair trade off for the effect of the drug. But my the start of the 3rd month, the side effects multiplied- excessive sweating, sleepiness, insomnia, thirst, loss o...

I was perscribed Effexor XR 75MG for one year after suffering from depression after the death of a family member. 10 days ago I stopped using this medication and I have had strange side effects I contribute to withdrawal. I get waves of tingling throughout my body. Like an electric shock feeling. I wanted to know if anyone else has had this feeling after discontinuing Effexor XR. ## i was on effexor for nearly 4 years, a dose of 150mg i had somewhat intense withdraw that lasted for a couple of weeks. i had to comae of them slowly. ## I know EXACTLY what you're going through, Lori. I'm not exactly drug-compliant, I forget easily depending on my stress levels and I take 150mg 2x daily. If I miss a dose I feel the same as you which I've called twitchy. However, recently I reali...

This pill is round, white, M at the top and V4 on the bottom, there is a line through the middle. I am trying to figure out what this is. ## I believe it is Effexor/Venlaxafine 75 mg ## He is correct - I know its Venlafaxine 75mg because I take them. Its an anti depressant that also helps with anxiety. ## should i take it the pharmacy gave it to me does that make it ok ## Debbie, what do you mean the pharmacy gave it to you? Do you mean this isn't what was prescribed, or they just gave you this generic that you aren't sure about? This tablet contains Venlafaxine 75mgs (NDC 00378-4884). Inactive Ingredients: - D&c Yellow No. 10 - Lactose Monohydrate - Magnesium Stearate - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Povidones - Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - Sodium Starch Glycolate Type a Potato ...

I have been taking adderall ir 10mg twice daily and recently was prescribed 75mg Venlafaxine (effexor) one daily. And ive been noticing that my adderall has not been working and have been very out of focused and tired even when taking my medications. I may be building a tolerance to adderall, but that still doesnt explain why it would stop working as well very sudden. Has anyone else experience effexor causing adderall not to be as effective? ## You may just be experiencing side effects of the Venlafaxine, it is an SNRI antidepressant that is used to treat various mental health conditions, so it can cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes, as side effects. Generally, once your body gets used to a new medication, side effects should start to tap...

Anyone else have long term experience with Effexor? Under my doctor's supervision over the last three months I have been weaning off of Effexor (which I was on for 10+ years). Keeping up my same exercise and eating patterns I have actually GAINED nearly 10 lbs over the three months I have been weaning off. I'm now two weeks completely Effexor free and I weigh the highest I ever have in my life. My weight has bobbed between 150lbs and 190lbs (I'm only 5'3) since I've been on antidepressants (a good 20 years or so), so I don't honestly know if the RX's have really caused any weight gain for me (while I was still taking them regularly). I'm sure as I've aged (I'm 47 now), this has slowed weight loss attempts down b/c I gain more and more easily as th...

I was Effexor XR for over 20 years until the insurance no longer paid for it and I went to generic. I don't feel that it does as well. The same with Xanac. Does anyone else have any experience with this? ## Hello, Mona! How are you? There can be fluctuations between name brand and generic medications. Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, they are allowed to differ, in the amount of the active ingredients, by as much as plus or minus 20%. The FDA considers that an acceptable therapeutic window, but when someone has been taking the name brand steadily for years, a sudden switch may cause problems, if they generics are a little low in them. What are the markings on the ones you're currently taking? This information would enable me to research them more for you. ## yes. I feel the sa...

I have been taking Effexor XR for 3 years and added Wellbutrin XL about a year ago. I am taking 300mg of each once daily. But now I am experiencing what I describe as shocks or flutters starting at my head and traveling down my body. Sometimes I feel like I might fall but I have not. I have been to my PCP and a neurologist, after a million tests still no answer. After looking on line it sounds like serotonin syndrome to me. Not a drastic case but enough to be irritating. ## What has your doctor said about this possibility? Our bodies do change with time, as we age, so it is always possible that we could suddenly start experiencing issues that we didn't in the past, even if the dosage of given medications haven't recently changed. ## if it where Serotonin syndrome you would proba...

Ihave been taking both drugs for quite some time but only recently have lost my sense of taste and smell and instead taste and smell only a metallic taste. Also take vitamin c, vitamin B-6 and B-12. I stopped taking everything and my taste and smell have improved but my depression and insomnia hae returned. please advise ## Effexor XR contains a time released formulation of Venlafaxine and it appears that both it and the Mirtazapine can cause taste loss, in some people. Have you discussed the problem with your doctor? You may need a dosage adjustment or require a switch to different medications. There are others on the market that you can try. In addition, they both cause dry mouth, which can also aggravate the problem and cause the metallic taste. ## it is probably the remeron. these m...

My doctor changed me from Effexor XR capsules 37.5 mg. to 37.5 mg Venlafaxine XR (white tablet). I am now having a lot of vertigo/dizziness. Has anyone else experienced this with the switch to generic Effexor XR? ## I too am having dizziness since the switch. I have been taking the generic for a little over a week. I also experienced a bout w/ nausea and vomiting. That could be a coincidence. ## I notice a definite difference in the new generic. I feel a bit depressed. I also notice that if for some reason I miss my dose, even for a few hours I get the head zaps...if you know what I mean. I missed a dose completely yesterday and I feel sick to my stomach. I took it right away and am feeling a bit better. It is definitely different that the real thing. ## I am having the exact same probl...

been on effexor for about 17yrs i think initially it was fine but over the last eight years find im constantly sick (flue like symptons) tired, non motivated and pretty fed up...But also very scared of being stuck on them now as i know its difficult to come off (was never told this) angry that drs put you on meds send you off and thats it, therapy should be offered also and constant monitoring!!! Feel like i havent been myself for a very long time and i find that really sad i also know life is vey precious but most the time i just want to lay around and be left alone.... ## I feel the same way on it, but I've been on for 2 years. 300 mg a day ## Effexor has been hit by the "opioid epidemic''. The drug no longer works as it should. I remember getting these guys in blister...

Is it ok to take all 225mg at night? Doc says 150 at night and 75 in morning, but I hate doing that. I have to take my hypothyroidism medication in the morning on an empty stomach, and just don’t want to mix them. Thoughts? ## Hello Wally, how are you? Effexor is usually taken in divided daily doses to help maintain the level of it in your body to aid in its efficacy. So, it is best to follow your doctors instructions. Ideally, you should take it about an hour after taking your thyroid medication. Effexor may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, weight changes, and mood changes. Ref: Medline Plus Effexor Are these the only medications you are currently taking regularly? ## Yes, only medications I’m taking. You said it’s “usually “ taken...

I am an MD who was RX Effexor XR for depression over 10 years ago. I took 75mg for many years and felt fine for a long time, but then wanted to get off of it. I would be in a panic if I forgot to take my pill and would experience strange dizzy/buzzing sensation behind my eyes. I was able to taper down to the 37.5mg pretty easily by alternating daily between 75mg/37.5mg. Then I got stuck and tried taking the lower dose every other day or every 36 hours but the side effects were too great. Then luckily, my new partner suggested opening up the capsules and tapering off with beads. I have been doing that now for about a year and a half. The original generic brand capsule had about 39 beads in and I was able to get down to 6 beads. When I tried to stop I couldn't function. I was shocked ...

I have been on Effexor XR since like a month after it was fda approved which is about 24yrs now. I was on 300mg a day for many years. I then was lowered to 150mg a day for many more. Recently I started lowering my dose by 37.5mg every 2 weeks and am currently taking only 37.5mg. No withdrawal symptoms, but worsening depression. I spoke with my doctor and she added Prozac 20mg. I am supposed to come off the Effexor completely in 7 days but am terrified of the withdrawals... I’ve felt them many times in the past and they are hell. Anyone have any experience with this? ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions, and the Prozac should help prevent the withdrawals, both medications are used to treat the same types of issues, such as mental health issues, and never pa...

Hi thank you for any insight..I've only been on Effexor xr 37.5 for three days and I'm freaking out! My chest is heavy legs are tingly im out of it but highly anxious and tired all at the same time. I've read tons of discussions about sticking it out but have made the choice to discontinue. I spoke with a pharmacist who said it'd be ok to just stop since I seem to be really sensitive to it. Only haven taken 3 doses, He said I will probably not have any withdrawals but if I do to open a capsule and sprinkle half on something. I'm looking for asstrances. I'm scared on this stuff but am also scared to just stop. He gave me assurances though that at such a low dose for such a short period, I should be ok. It's Saturday and Dr isn't in until Tuesday, no way am...

I was on prozac for two years -- a gradual increase from 0 to 60mg. At first it worked and then it seemed to stop working (for depression). I started to become more depressed than I was before (loss of appetite, sleeping more, no motivation etc.) and my doctor decided to switch me from Prozac to Effexor saying that the transition would be fine. I went from taking 60mg of prozac one day to the next taking 225mg of Effexor. The result was not good. For the next couple days I had extremely blurred vision/ I couldn't go outside because the sun hurt my eyes. It was hard for me to go from lying down to standing up and four days after starting the 225mg I had a seizure in the shower. Despite this, my doctor insisted that this was because I wasn't eating/hydrating properly and sleeping ...

I'm getting concerned about my husband. He has been put on Effexor XR 75 mg, together with Prazosin, and Clonazepam 1 mg, for depression and anxiet and PTSD. When he feels more anxious he will take another Clonazepam, or a half mg of it. I realize his dosages aren't high on these medications but he is also extremely sensitive to meds, so for him this may well be a lot. Lately he has been drinking, after being completely off the alcohol for quite a few years. He will start drinking wine after work, and will drink 3 or more 16 oz glasses. Then he will take another 1.5 of clonazepam some nights, or else 2 Tylenol PM's and go to sleep. I know the drill about drinking and I try not to nag him but I did tell him this pattern is dangerous, against his doctor's instructions and ...

I've been on Effexor for about 3 weeks; has anyone had any swelling of the extremities? I do, and I'm thinking of stopping use and returning to Wellbutrin and Prozac (which I was on before). ## Swelling of the extremities is not a side effect of Effexor; however, high blood pressure is. Since Effexor can raise your blood pressure, you might retain fluid and need a simple water pill or blood pressure pill. I would ask the doctor about this before abandoning the medication, especially if the medication is helping with the depression. ## you might want to go to a grocery store each day for about a week, sit down for five minutes and then take your blood pressure. It should not be any higher than 140/88. That is even a little borderline high. ## when i miss a dose of effector xr i be...

Hi, I've been on Effexor/Venlafaxine (delayed release) for about ten years, most of which was at 300mg daily. The side effects have suddenly increased, the most annoying being night sweats so heavy I have to sleep on incontinence bed pads and waterproof cushions, but also I get violent involuntary leg twitches every couple of minutes starting with a pain in my feet at night and I frequently can't sleep (some nights I don't sleep at all). I'm thinking this is seretonin syndrome. I'm in the UK and have tried to see a psychiatrist but no joy.... and my doctor won't change my psych meds.... so I'm stuck. I've heard about tapering by opening the capsules and removing beads. This seems like a good idea. I wondered if anyone out there had tapered from 300mg, wha...

Does esexor 75 work as intended? ## Greetings, I was unable to find any drugs under the name Esexor. I was however able to find a drug named Effexor that comes in a 75mg dosage. Is this the medication that you were talking about? Just in case I provided some information below pertaining to Effexor 75mg. According to the National Institute of Health Effexor 75mg, also known as venlafaxine hydrochloride, is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD) and panic disorder (PD). This medication should be administered only once a day after a meal, it is instructed to be consistent in administering this medication at the same time every day. The NIH warns that this medication should be administered with fluid ...
