This is classified as a narcotic, however it was derived from a sythetic one in a failed attempt to reduce addiction and side effects. Thus they have a medication that acts like a basic anti-inflammatory, but carries the same side effects and addictive potential as an opiate. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, vomiting, drowsiness and constipation.

I want to know if an 627 helps back pain like a m357 ## Hi rebecca, I can't speak for everyone since both of these medications tend to effect each person differently. But in regards to their individual potency, Tramadol is often touted as a much weaker pain medication than your typical narcotic, such as Norco (M357). Comments from other people have also mentioned that Tramadol should probably be considered an over-the-counter medication relative to the dose. If you haven't tried either medication yet, it may be best to talk to your doctor first about giving each of them a trial run, to see how your body responds. Usually the weaker meds are easier to taper off in the long run, so I can only assume that Tramadol would likely be a good candidate to start out with until you can rea...

I've read that It should NOT be taken with methadone because it decreases the effectiveness of the methadone. I've been on both for several years and have not had a problem but if you notice your methadone isn't holding you and you are on Tramadol, say something to your doc.
