Is there a difference between 1 pill every 8 hours and 1 pill 3 times a day? 3 times a day is 8 hours yet I've seen it written both ways. ## Hello, Bosco! How are you? Yes, there is a difference. As is stated, one is meant to be taken precisely every 8 hours, but the other is just 3 times a day. That three times a day doesn't necessarily mean it has to be 8 hours apart, for instance, the doctor may just mean for someone to take it with breakfast, lunch and dinner, or in the morning when waking, at lunchtime and then at bedtime. Some medications need to be taken on a precise schedule to keep the level of them in your body consistent for them to work best, but with some medications, it doesn't matter. when taking medication & the directions are 1 tablet 3 times a day, how many hour's are between each tablet ## Hi Katt, When the directions state "1 tablet, 3 times daily", I think most people base the "3 times daily" off of a 24 hour period, where as you can simply divide 24 by 3 times and have "1 tablet, every 8 hours". Some people might not wait 8 hours and may just take it 3 times spread out during the day and not have any at night. I personally would go with the "every 8 hours" deal, because I find it easier to track. I have been on Contrace for 6 weeks now, and am very pleased with the results. I was prescribed contrave due to severe endometriosis and other hormonal issues I was having. I didnt start taking it until 5 weeks ago, about 3 months after my hysterectomy.
