I have been taking thyronorm 25 mg for the past 3 years and now my BP is 160 -100 most of the time. I wake up in the morning with headaches and pain in my left arm. My Dr advised me taking orlistat 120 for weight management and xtem and olmator 20. I am not sure if i should start these medications, though it is two weeks now and i am taking mukta vati and medhavati. ## I am 78 years old, taking Thyrox 25 for the past one year due to high BP. Prior to this was taking Losaran 50 twice daily, but since I started thyroid medicine my BP has gone down. Sometimes it comes down to as low as 102/54. I also take 4 tablets of Tidomet plus 125. What is the reason why my BP has been going down?

I am 47, weigh 70kg, am type 2 diabetic and have been taking Galvus Met 1000mg for my diabetic condition along with Bilocor 5mg & Co Exforge 5mg/160mg/12.5mg for the past 4 years. However, my blood pressure does not want to come down. My average BP is 180/90. What can be the cause? My medication? ## It is most likely that it is due to the diabetes, and not the medications. They usually go hand in hand, according to NIH reports. Do you watch your diet to make sure that you don't take in a lot of sodium and fat? Ar you on any other medications? How much exercise do you get?

I am a 39 year old man and my BP was always 160/100 + but later my doctor said to take Telmikind AM instead of Amcard 5. I also added a new tablet to my daily chart, Trika 0.25 tablet. Now my BP is 119/20 in normal condition, but now I only take these tablets when I need them, otherwise when I feel better I will not take any tablet. I also think the Trika 0.25 helps me cure me blood pressure because this is the medicine of hyper tension and hyper tension is the major cause of my BP. Thank you. ## Actually, using a blood pressure/cardiac medication in such a manner is very dangerous, you should be taking it all the time regularly. Taking it for awhile, as needed, then stopping creates the risk of it causing rebound effects, which could cause severely elevated blood pressure and heart rat...

I have B P 100 TO 160/Age 63/male. I hahe hand shivering some time Can I take renerve addionanlly now ## The FDA classifies Renerve as a nutritional supplement, it contains a complex of B vitamins that are believed to help with nerve health, so you should be able to take it, as long as your doctor approves. It's only known side effect is occasional nausea, due to its potency. What do you take to treat your high blood pressure?

Are the ingredients in Diovan 160 mg and Losartan 100-25 mg comparable if I run out of one can I switch to other? ## Hi Elaine, As far as comparing these drugs, I think it's not wise to assume that they have similar properties, since everyone can react differently to one or the other, despite having an equivalent dosage. If you're used to taking one or the other and have your doctors permission, I'd say it's fine to switch off between the two. However, at the same time I wouldn't necessarily anticipate having the same relief or results from two entirely different medications. On a side note: Eating whole foods that have little to no sodium and which are high in potassium and magnesium are solid dietary options for lowering blood pressure. These foods primarily includ...

I am taking Olmat 40h + Embeta 100mg in the morning as well as Olmat 40mg in the evening + Atorva 5mg at night. My blood pressure is 140/90 in the morning and 160/90 in the evening. Would I have to take these medications for life? What are their side effects? I am 63 years old. ## You may have to take them for the rest of your life, to keep your blood pressure under control. However, if it does come down to normal levels, you may be able to reduce how many you are taking, or lower their dosages, in the future. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am 30 and diagnosed with high blood pressure (160/100). Doctor recommended I take stamlo 5 mg. After one week my blood pressure is 154/96. Does stamlo take time to reduce blood pressure? ## Yes, it can take about 4 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in the body to see how well it works for you. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Has there been any change? ## I am 48, earlier I was taking stamlo 2.5 when my BP was 125/84. My doctor said if the lower BP crosses 90, I should take stamlo 5. Yesterday my BP was 137/97 , doctor prescribed stamlo 5. Is this medicine enough for this BP range?

My BP is now within normal range. But I feel very weak. Should I continue the dose? ## You should take the medication as instructed by your doctor. I am 62 and have no history of hypertension, yet there was a sudden spike in my blood pressure reaching 160/100, so my Dr. prescribed several medicines (Amlodipine 5mg, Enlapril, Clopidogrel 75mg, Aspirin 75mg, Atrovastatin). I took them for 4 days and immediately my B.P. showed normal. Then the Dr. told me I will have to take the medications as prescribed for the rest of my life or I will have to face rebound effects. I don't like the idea of being on medications forever. It was a small sporadic incidence with grade 1 mild heart dysfunction. I then went for a 2nd opinion from an expert Dr. He asked me to discontinue all previous medications and take only 1/2 Amlodipine and 1/2 aspirin daily for 6 months. I found one of the previous meds was Plavix (Clopidogrel) and learned that it ...

Blood pressure 90/60 since June. Been on Losartin for 15 years. This year had knee replacement surgery for painful knee; pain for last 6 years. Now no pain and no stress full job, so dr. thinks my blood pressure has dropped because no more pain or stress; he lowered it to 50 mg from 100 mg. Still 60/90. Lowered it to 25.mg and still 60/90. Am eating more potassium every meal, weight is 160 at 5'5" age 65. Do you think no stress and no pain means no high blood pressure? Can I possibly go off of it? ## Hello, Susan! How are you doing? Yes, it is possible that your blood pressure elevationg was just due to the pain and stress, both are known to cause it to go up. However, please don't go off of it, without your doctor's approval and supervision. Suddenly stopping it could c...

The emergency room dr prescribed me 20 of klor-con 20mg cause my potassium level was very low and i couldnt talk or move my body and my blood pressure was 160/100 and my pulse at 100 and i was tingling and numbness all over my body i couldnt even walk like i was paralized ## Hello, Tammy! How are you? I am so very sorry about what happened to you. Low potassium levels can be very dangerous and can cause many health issues, having levels that are too high can also be very dangerous. Potassium is something that must remain balanced between specific levels. In my case, my body does not store potassium, though we've never been able to figure out why, thus to keep mine up, my cardiologist has had to double up medications that can elevate my potassium levels. For most people, that could c...

I have initially took 5/5 mg of coveram for 2 months.. after my bp was found to be at 160/100.. the doctor prescribed 10/10 coveram but it causes heavy dry cough which lasted for more than a month.. another doctor prescribed to me another medication to stop my coughing. ## A dry cough is a possible side effect of most blood pressure medications, according to the NIH. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. In most cases, the dry cough doesn't go away and someone must try alternative medications. Have you discussed doing so with your doctor? Is this the only medication you are currently taking?
