Taking Subutex And Percocet Together (Page 10)

My doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?

Yes. I've never had any problems switching back and forth btwn suboxone and subutext. They do have a very long half life, so you should still feel fine when you get your script. You can wait until you start to feel the effects of it wearing off if it'll make you feel more secure. I don't have a script, so trying to stay clean, I take what I can find and sometimes it's one, sometimes the other.

I took a half of a quarter piece of subutex at 3 am ,my back hurts n I need to take my perk 15s. Will the subutex make the perk 15 not work..I've asked friends and I got different answers plz hel me out

I am taking 480mg of Oxycodone a day down from 840mg. daily. Need to pass a drug panel in the near future. Does Subutex take away the pain as well as Oxycodone? If not, can you take Oxycodone say at bedtime? If not then how many hours before Oxy works again once you stop taking the Subutex.? What other drugs are recommended while on subutex? Can you take Xanax? Before I was on Oxycodone I was taking Vicodin. My highest daily dosage was 15 Norco tablets which has 150mg of Hydrocodone. On sundays I did not do anything but watch TV so I did not take any Norco and had no withdrawl symptoms what so ever. Not so lucky with Oxycodone. I was wondering - what is the most Oxy anyone has taken on a daily basis w/o suffering any withdrawl discomfort? Also is it normal to be able to take the quanity of hydrocodone I took w/o any problems stopping. I wonder because I remember watching the TV show "HOUSE" and the doctor was grabbing the toilet one episode while off his meds. He was taking Vicodin 5mg./500mg. - the lowest dosage and they never showed him taking more than 2 at a time. The max. being 8 pills a day due to the acetaminophen max. at 4000mg. So what gives? Are the producers trying to scare people about Vicodin? Again, I had no trouble not taking any Vicodin on sundays while taking 150mg. otherwise and the good doctor is puking etc. from a withdrawl from 40mg. a day? Has anyone suffered withdrawl from Vicodin? Also whats the most Oxycodone anyone has taken daily and able to stop w/o problems? Thank you for your response.

Perc and OP are the same thing. Subutex can be prescribed with any other pain med accept Methadone. Methadone and Bupenorphine compete for the same receptors and block eachother causing precipitated withdrawals, they are both opiate agonists. Nalaxone, which is only found ins suboxone and not subutex is a opiate antagonist, it removes opiates from binding and therefore precipitates withdrawal. So in short opiates are fine to take with subutex only.

hi...I literally just about an hour ago took two 20 mlgs of oxy codone and 2 5mlgs of oxy contin. I took 4 mlgs of subtex at 9 this morning. it's 8 pm now. I am not in withdrawal and I just barely notice the oxi pills just barely so there you go ,.

I have been on 12mg of buprenorphine a day But..... I have dental surgery going on as we speak. I have been prescribed vicodin 10/325 I feel fine and pain under control, that is taking them a few hours apart. CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY WITH MY CONCERN? ??? THANKS

I have had one (oral surgery and 3 to go). I have been taking 12mg of buprenorphine a day for about a year. My oral surgeon has prescribed vicodin es every 4 hours 1-2 tablets. I continue to take the vicodin along with the buprenorphine and no problems (I space them out) any feedback would be great.

Subutex does not have a blocker. Suboxone does. Just saying I been on 8 mg of subutex n just took a roxicet 15 n I'm fine so again subutex does not have a blocker

I am on subutex and recently had surgery and after surgery I had diladed morphine Fentnal and 2 oxycontins. The only thing is you won't feel any of it but it helped the pain. You will not go through withdrawal. I'm on norco now and I have not gotten sick. U will be fine! now if on suboxone u would be sick.

How old is this information? You should not post info if you dont know what your talking about at all. Subutex and suboxone are induced the exact same way. Buprenorphine causes precipitated withdrawal. Nalaxone is inactive when taken sublingually...i cant believe so many people liked this info? Crazy.

There is no benefit to taking opiates when using subutex. You need 24plus hrz without Subs to get effects from opiates. Good luck. {edited for privacy}

Suboxone doesn't contain narcan but is a combination of Buprenorphine/Naloxone. Subutex is just Buprenorphine.. Personally have taken Subutex with opiates(oxy, hydrocodone, etc) and never experienced withdrawal but would never advise anyone to combine these medications because you will simply not get any relief from the oxy as Subutex like suboxone will fill the opiate receptors and is still a blocker jus doesn't have the Naloxone in it which is what causes people to withdrawal. This it is recommended to wait 36-48 hrs before taking Suboxone after an opiate has been ingested.. My doc explained it as its ok to go from opiates to Suboxone and not waiting the full 24-48 hrs as most opiates only have lasting effect of 6-8 hours but to never go from Suboxone to opiates WITHOUT waiting the full half life of Suboxone which is a minimum of 36 hours. So long story short, when you combine Subutex with opiates it's as good as flushing them down the toilet which is easier on your liver as the perc and subutex will strain your liver and thus feeling nothing from the opiates.

Subutex is not the same as suboxone. My doctor an actual doctor including the pharmacist both told me that you can take subutex without the w/d issue that suboxone will put you through. I know from my own experience that it's ok to take subutex less then 24 hours since my last opiate. I get so irritated by comments that people don't know what they are talking about.

I would not mix the two and it makes me real confused why you'd even be prescribed them together. Subutex/suboxone etc. is to get off of painkillers/opiates without having withdrawal. It blocks your receptors so even if you take opiates on them you won't feel high or feel the effects. I also feel like it's gotta be bad to mix in the same sense how uppers and downers are bad to mix. Taking a drug that gets you off pain killers, with pain killers, makes zero sense to me. Just my two cents. Good luck!

I am also on subutex and take break thru meds your are not going into withdrawal only naloxone in suboxone causes withdrawals like that but this same thing did happen to me what the problem is is subutex is extremely strong it over powers fentanyl I kno this from experience and ur getting to much subutex at once that's what's causing the migraines I suffered with it fir months that's why when it getting the migraine abd take a Percocet it makes u sicker cause it body already has to much meds it dies take awhile for ur Body to get used to such a strong med so best advice cut it subutex dose back try taking half ur dose and if pain starts to break through take a perc...when they first put me in them I was on 3 8my tablets a day but could only take half of one to not get a migraine now I'm up to 4 a day within a year and a half these doctors realky have no clue what there working with its highly addictive and u build a tolerance faster then any other pain med iv ever seen and struggled with chronic pain for 10+ years now but I will say when it's ur only option subutex works wonders for chronic pain. Some days I actually feel normal again. ..best of luck to you hope this helps

Suboxone has naloxone in it not narcan. While subutex is just straight bupronorphrine.

I am asking myself the same thing but for different reasons. I have been taking a quarter to a half of subutex for 2 days and although I can understand people's views and answers, I really just want to know a simple , straight answers for this,
Even though I have take subutex up to a half of a 8 mil for almost two full days now , can I take hydrocodeine , opoids, without going into withdrawals AND feeL the opoids ?

Subutex will not send you into withdrawal taking with an opiate. Taking suboxone on the other hand can and most likely will. Subutex does not have Naloxen in it...you will be fine. 100%

As far as feeling anything from the opi...doubtful. subutex raises your tolerance so most likely you won't feel much if you're chasing a high. It'll still help with pain
