I was referred to pain management and the Doctor never has appointments. For 2 1/2 years I have been unable to move without terrible pain. I would do anything to get my life back. They ruined my surgery and I am in agony. I have Osteoarthritus and 5 heel spurs on one foot that feel like 5 knives in my foot. My legs and hips are in constant throbbing pain. I am on HMO and the only pain management they cover is for Invasive pain management. I finally was referred out of network and the guy has no appointments. I was referred out of network to another pain management in Zephyhills and that guy is a MONSTER just managing for money, he REFUSED MY OUT OF NETWORK REFERRAL.

At least I don't feel alone and now know/understand what is going on...

I live in South East Michigan (just showing this problem is everywhere...) and I have also been trying to get my pain medications (Oxycodone 30 mg as well as Percocet...) filled and NO ONE has them.

Why? THEIR ORDERS ARE NOT BEING FILLED BY THE DISTRIBUTORS BECAUSE OF THE LAW THEY PASSED IN OCTOBER 2014 MAKING ALL OF THOSE MEDICATIONS CLASS II and it's got ALL of the pharmacies in scrambles...

I was told back in November 2014 that it would be "difficult" to fill my Oxycodone prescriptions. I asked the Pharmacist why and he said that "Walgreens will have a hard time filling those prescriptions at the beginning of the year." I inquired as to why this would be and they gave me a brush off answer: "It's always really difficult to get "those types" of prescriptions at the beginning of the year..."

I called again today only I called CVS. I was told that "Because those medications were moved to a Class II, most pharmacies (none) will be able to order them" and she ended with, "That's all I know, the law was changed in October 2014, they are now schedule II medications and good luck trying to find them now..."
I said, "Seriously?! I need these for my chronic pain..."
She said, "I don't know what to tell you, we've been trying to order it (Oxycodone 30 mg's) since December and the distributors have not filled any of our orders.
and to (get this...) TRY BACK IN TWO MONTHS...THINGS MIGHT BE "SETTLED" BY THEN."

I can't get ANY of my pain medications! (Oh, but they all have Suboxone: no problem! which is also a Class II...hmmmm.)

I forgot to add: They started this "change" with Norco's.
Anyone have a problem getting those back in Oct/Nov 2014?
I only know this because while I was still able to get my pain medications refilled I heard this from Walgreens and CVS customers. They were freaking out and I don't blame them. I wondered why the pharmacies were telling their customers they were "out and didn't know when they would get them in..."
Now I know why...and now I'M the one freaking out...

I'm having the same problem in Maryland. For the past 4 months, it's near impossible to fill my scripts. I am on pain management for 7 ruptured , herniated, bulging and / or protruding discs plus torn MCL in left knee and damaged Right SI joint plus severe tearing of muscles and ligaments from mid back under left shoulder. I have to see my Dr every month. I get urinalysis, checked out, do paperwork, etc. He is a licensed Dr. Who personally verifies all scripts (not just letting office staff do so) I take 30mg oxycodone hcl up to 5 daily rx is for 150 and methadone 10mg 3 X a day. It may seem like an odd combo, but it works. I used to never have problems. Now I have to drive all over the State of Maryland. I'm on Medicaid. I spoke with them 2 days ago. They are not the problem. Every pharmacy is the same old song and dance. We don't have it. Can't get it. Or my favorite, where they take the scripts and hold them for over 5 days then say they don't come in. I AM LEGIT. I have 5 MRIs to back it up. I'm to the point where I want to order them online, but don't know where to go! Someone please help! Please. The people who don't need them are the ones with plenty. I need my meds to function and perform daily chores. I want to get a job, but right now, sadly, my job is hunting down pharmacies!

I live in Alabama and I'm having the same problems. Today is day 4 with no oxicodone. I am at my wits end!! NO PHARMACY that I have called (about 30) have the oxicodone in stock. EVERYONE says they are on a national back order and they have no idea when they will be available. They told me to just keep calling back everyday. What are we to do?

The following link is to an article I found about how patients getting denied their legal prescription can report and fight back: when valid prescriptions are refused.

Hi. Oxycodone has always been a CII narcotic. Even the 5 MG ones with acetomenaphin. Suboxone is a CIII narcotic. They changed HYDROCODONE from a CIII to a CII back in October.

I agree totally....Fl is the worst, I had hip surgery and had to go through it without my pain meds because "no one has it" why is it because I pay $15 w/ ins instead of hundreds of dollars??

I will sign any petition or do anything that will help those of us who need these narcotics for severe pain. I live in N.Y. and am having trouble filling oxycodone 30mg. I need to sometimes go to Florida to see my daughter for emergencies. If my prescription from N.Y. wouldn't be filled there I would be in withdrawal and certainly no help to my daughter. Would the refusing pharmacy like to pay my hospital bills? Not to mention my pain and anxiety are intolerable without the medications I must take. I have told several pharmacies who "claim" they are out of stock I will be planning class action suits. They could care less. Let's fight!!

Hello fellow pain sufferers. I would like to thank No Quality of Life for locating a helpful link "when a valid prescription is Refused" also under Modern Medicine and Drug Topics. As we all know this "shortage of pain medication" is hurting all of us with legitimate pain who must rely on these medication to attempt to live normally-sarcasm is purposeful. Those of us on disability apparently have some avenues of help-of course we all should. It will, as I have said take a ton of e-mailing to get the attention of those responsible for this nightmare-but there is power in numbers and there are a lot of us suffering-if any of you want to check out that site and we can all agree on which agency to complain to en masse we can make a start-please post your thoughts here of whom you think we should start with-then we'll get the ball rolling-Thanks, Andy

I live in Long Beach, Ca. The Pharmacy said that the supplier can only fill every 2 weeks. There is a limit through their suppliers. The Dr. cannot do anything about it. Try any 24 hr pharmacy.

It is a shame the people that do need it have to go through this. This is government control.

I was able to fill mine, but I walked in at the right time. The best thing is to go fill it in another town.

Rev.

Local pharmacies that carry the much needed medications are charging 1000 for 112 8m hydromorphone another pharmacy charges 800 for 140.this medication is needed to deal with the constant grind chronic pain causes so we pay. It's cheaper than paying 30 a pill and risking jail. This is no way to live . I'm 53 and have severe stenosis from c3 to c7 ,fibromyalgia multiple bulging and degenerative disks .I am one oof the only ones who still gets meds in the mail so I'm writing because all my friends are broke and sick. Why must we pay the price and live with a label.

I live in Connecticut and the same thing is happening I have had the same Doctor for ten years and he has been telling me over the past three years the DEA has been all over his back for havime a pain management practice with three other Doctors first it got that CVS wouldn't fill them and now the Doctor is so scared he is cutting everyone's scripts in half because the DEA told him he can't give people the amount he does to stop, pain. So now the Doctors don't set the amount the DEA is so some flunkie with no education is controlling things even though the Doctor also does blocks, implants, stem cell injections, and many other approved procedures but he is not componet enough to prescribe us our medications I would be happy to go in on a class action suit because I have had it also

Hi this is Andy-actually I'm female just picked a nickname. Jodi, Amy, all those (including myself) really need to check the site When valid prescriptions are refused-by Steve Ariens. It has many names of organizations we can write to and attempt to make changes. Nothing will get any better if we get a scrip filled; sit back and say "Thank God-another month taken care of" then continue on with our existences. I use that word purposely because; at least for myself my pain has stopped me from enjoying life. It is quite difficult to have fun when one is in constant pain. I've seen pictures of myself appearing happy and smiling;I no longer recognize myself. I've been trying to fill my oxycodone for 49 hours straight without success. I just wrote an extremely long letter to this gentleman thanking him for his research and caring. After composing a novel I finally asked which of his options does he believe we should be investing our energy in? If I didn't bore the poor man to death, I await a reply. I will share it with everyone of course if he has a preference. This gentleman is a pharmacist and believes, as do we that there ARE actions to take. After all that driving-wasting gas on my baby budget I can't believe I'm still thinking clearly. I told the last pharmacist who practically threw my scrip back at me that she may have to carry me to my car as I wasn't sure I could do it. I was, unfortunately quite serious. I am so thrilled;simply as a little extra ding that the DEA has been caught procuring prostitutes from the drug cartels while we in true pain are treated like the criminals. Ha! Hang in there everyone-we will make a difference with this nonsense. God Bless

Adam-go to 127 titled "No quality of Life". Click on her link in what she wrote-literally says "when valid prescriptions are refused". That will take you to the link where Mr. Ariens explains what we can do-I wrote recently-possibly under another thread or post and right after what I wrote he wrote about the situation on this website also. Hope that helps!

Its the DEA. They scare the doctors and patients who are drug addicts will avoid prosecution by testifying against the Doctor who supported and believed their pain. These people need to go to Prison, not the Doctor. If you lie to get pills, you are a criminal. If you lie to get anything, its not the person who you victimized at fault. I have been overseas and I had to take some nasty meds with horrific physical withdrawal. When it was time to come home, I had to stop taking something with 10 times worse than heroine withdrawal and I did. I wish I had stayed because Florida ruined my life. There I had a normal life. I wasn't high or increasing my doses. I was able to walk, run and be human. People in pain don't feel HIGH like people without pain. People in pain just become able to move. Drug addicts and those who don't understand pain management think everyone gets high and they live under the notion that for drug addicts this is a "Money on their back", when for them, its the Devil on one should and the Angel on the other. You have a choice and you can stop any time. The Monkey on their back is their desire to make excuses to feel high. If you are over 18 and you OD because you wanted to feel high, its not because you were able to get pills. You were going to kill yourself with whatever you could get your hands on. It wasn't about the High, it was your Uncle molesting you or your Mother's cold way of discipline etc. I get tired of parents who say "Oh if my son/daughter couldn't get the drugs they would be alive." This attitude is what got them killed.

I have been writing to this site for months re: near impossibility to fill narcotic prescriptions. Now I have a BIGGER problem-this I believe is illegal-I truly need help or advice. I received a call from my Dr.'s office a few days ago that my Dr. had taken a sudden emergency "leave". There is another doctor in the office and when I told whoever called that I was on several high dose meds I was told she would speak to the other guy in the office. No call back yet-my app't. was supposed to be this Thurs. (2 days away) and I've started leaving messages with still no return call! Isn't this illegal or unethical? Have no idea what I can do. I'm in Long Island, N.Y. Anyone have ideas or help? It was hard enough with pharmacy situation-but now I'm headed towards withdrawal and God-awful pain. I need help! ASAP! Anyone; thanks.
