Confused On Tests
UpdatedIm very confused with my urine test at my pain managment doctor (been seeing for 4 years). Im on Percocets 4 times a day & oxycodone 20 mg (different than Endocet 10-325). Last month I had taking a couple hydrocodone..was at a soccer tournament..forgot my meds & my daughter had these so i took some, NOT knowing that was a "no no" & showed up "morphine" in my urine test...When i came in to get my refills & had to take my urine, morphine showed up again!! I had NOT taking anything but what my doctor has me on after being explained I'm NOT to take anything else..i DID NOT do that again!! Why would it show up again?? could it be a slight show of what i had taken last month..dr said it should have been out of my system by now or often the test will show positive at their lab but went sent off it will come back negative...Im not understanding why morphine would show up again?? Pain management is very strict and I can not think of any reason that would show up??

can a mixture of other meds taken together show as "morphine" I have MS so Im on a cornucopia of different meds. ( soma, ambien, Xanax (all prn) this is just REALLY bothering me of why on earth this would be??
I am very sorry that this has happened to you.
As to the actual drug detection time, yes, your doctor is right, it should be out of your system within 5 days after you take a narcotic, however, there are other factors that come in to play, such as your individual metabolism, overall health, activity levels and etc. Due to those types of things, any given medication may not be detectable, at all, when some people take it and, in rare cases, it is detectable much longer in other people, sometimes their entire lives.
The next relevant fact is that a pain management doctor is not required to use an actual government certified test, they are free to go with whatever lab they choose that offers the cheapest price. On these types of tests, false positives are known to occur anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time.
If you do some more browsing of our site, you'll find many posts similar to yours, because it has been happening more and more frequently.
Now, as to the other medications you take, as needed, the Soma has been known to cause a false positive for Morphine on these non-certified tests.
How long before the test had you taken one?
