Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 8)

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

Hi all and Lola,

I finnaly got in to see the doc. I had to wait an hour (unusual) just to get in and then more. Anyways my pain was an 8 or 9 and I was ready to scream. Not to mention the waiting room was like 80 degrees. Long story short, I met with the doc and he was really cool. he just wanted to read my full history before seeing me. We talked alot and he said why bother messing around with the generics and he gave me straight Oxycodone. They are tiny pink pills, how cute. 10 Mg. They were only $10! My co-pay. BTW, he said that I was "stable". Been going there 2 years. By stable, I think he means truly sick and not a "drug seeker or addict". This probably worked in my favor. I told him the Actavis sucked and he agreed and had heard that also. He said he has no idea how or where they are made and they could have "anything" in them. Havent taken any yet casue at work. I will take one later and let you all know how they work. Hope everybody is doing ok and feeling ok.

Hi Martin, so happy to hear your doctor appointment went well today. Now do you mean you are taking oxycodone without any tylenol in it right? Is this the immediate release or sustained release? Let us know how it works for you when you have a chance.

Jennifer are you taking the Actavis generic percocet now? There are so many of us not being able to stand the side effects of this Actavis crap. I have filed a complaint with the FDA and we all need to stand together and do this in order to get this placebo pill off the market. If you read others posts a few people had to go to the ER because of the horrible side effects. I am going to try the brand name when I can get an answer back from the pharmacy how much my insurance will pay for. I have been in withdrawals for weeks now and only taking OTC meds for my pain which is not cutting it by any means. The withdrawals are beyond words and I don't have another withdrawal in me - at least not trying to make it on my own. Hope you find pain relief today.

Martin I hope that works well for you. Lola I hope they straighten this out for you fast. You should not have to suffer this way! This is awful. I feel for you. My friend said her mom also got watson from walgreens today. They must of had plenty left. Makes no sense to me.

Jennifer there are two Lisa's posting but I am the one who takes the mallinckrodt brand. I am doing fine on them. I didn't have problems with the switch. I just felt like they were stronger then Watson. When I switched back from them back to watson I really noticed it but we all react to meds differently. I liked watson and I like these. I haven't tried Actavis. I'm scared to try them now after reading this.

Hey everyone. ..I just posted the following info on another thread exactly as it appears below. Im putting it here again just incase the post I made earlier is not approved. I put the url in my message and im not sure if it allows the posting of url's and I dont see my message up yet. Please spread the word...and Google the article I have listed by the site I have listed as well.......... I just came across an article from this website,"Generics and Biosimilars" titled, "Actavis makes agreement for generic abuse-deterrent oxycodone", Posted 03/05/2013, that explains exactly why everyone is getting sick and feeling no pain relief. Please please please... complain to the FDA, to the company Actavis, which u can get on the internet and call Walgreens @800-walgreens...but tell walgreens not to send the info to ur local pharmacy.. cause they will...tell them u want ur complaint to go to the main office that deals with the pharmaceutical partof walgreens. I hope that article will help make sense of everything for everyone who is suffering! Please pass the article around to whatever thread u see pertaining to watson/actavis Generic Percocet. This way everyone is informed. This article is recent so im sure very little/nobody knows about it yet...i know this info will shine light on the problems everyone is having. I'm also taking this so called generic form of Percocet now manufactured by ACTAVIS with the same imprint A349. It does not do what it's supposed to do..RELIEVE PAIN!! I recently switched over to a Walgreens Pharmacy near my house and have had nothing but problems since! I intend to let my doctor know about this immediately!! I'm also going to look into finding another pharmacy as well! I'm glad that it's just not me noticing that these pills are totally ineffective!!!

Hi Everyone,

I hate to sound like a pain diary, but I am in a lot of pain! It was like this when I first started the Actavis. I hate to think that Actavis is actually better than Mallinckrodt. Tomorrow is day number 5, and I actually had to put a wet towel in the microwave, twice to get some pain relief. (my heating pad went out) I wish my doctor had just given me something stronger. I guess I'll have to deal with it, as I don't want to lose what I have. Tomorrow, I am going to wait longer between doses. Maybe I can train my body to deal with the pain longer. I'll probably ask the sports medicine doctor, about stronger pain medicine on my next visit. Maybe she can talk to someone, because this is terrible. Did anyone try anything else that worked? Maybe I should have gone with "Qualitest" I don't know. I hope someone mentions something that worked before my next refill. Maybe by then I will be used to this brand. I hope so!

I am sorry Jan!! Maybe I am not a good person to compare to since I take the 10/325. I feel like they work so well. However I can't compare to actavis at all. Who has the qualitest brand? I am going to ask my doctor to lower my dose and I don't mind trying those. I am only taking half mallinckrodt at a time. I have to see if the qualitest has yellow dye or if they are white. Dye bothers me. I read mixed reviews on them but the lortab qualitest was great.

Someone else started a thread and people are posting that Amneal and Mallinckrodt are way better then Avtavis. It just shows how we all respond differently.

Hey everyone. .I've been sending messages but they haven't been posting them. Actavis is not working because they are formulated without the addictive additives. They are experimenting to see if it works. Lucky us...I read it on the internet. They are tryng to prevent abuse where people cut em up n insufflate or melt em...they experience an immediate high, with this actavis brand, it wont make u high if abused cause they took removed whatever it is in the Percocets that gives u that feeling. That's y they're not helping with pain relief...its a completely different formula than the Watson formula. Research it and u will see....hope that helps to now know why we re hurting so bad on this medication.

It's Angela- I had to stop taking the actavis Percocet b/c my head feels like it's going to explode! Not to mention all I want to do is sleep. Still have GI issues, but the headache is by far the worst symptom. I did get a hold of my dr and they are going to give me another rx and discard these. I have been calling many pharmacies around town( especially the smaller independently owned ones;) in hopes of finding some Watson Percocet remaining in their stock. This truly sucks!!! I called my insurance co and asked about the brand name Percocet & naturally it's excluded from coverage without an appeal. In everyone's honest opinion, which generic brand would you take if you had no other choice? HELP! My pain was finally controllable with the Watson brand; in fact, at times I didn't even have to take them every 4hours. Now this happens- it really sucks!

Hi Angela. I am so sorry your in pain! Do you know what brands are available for you to try? I have only had Watson and Mallinckrodt and I haven't tried qualitest yet but I may that next just to compare. I have no problems with mine now. I don't have side effects but we all react differently. I am very close with my pharmacist so if you want me to mention some brands for you, I will. Hope I can help.

Dear Lisa,
You are too kind! I tried asking my pharmacist( atleast the one that was there yesterday),but she was not that helpful. I am basically going to call around and check if any pharmacy has any Watson remaining. If you find anything out, please let me know because my dr told me to come by the office today and he will give me another script. Then the hard part is finding what to take! Thanks again!

Hi Angela. Have you tried to see what Rite aid has? I think walgreens and cvs are actavis. Is watson the only brand you ever had besides actavis? Do you have a rite aid close by you could call?

Jan , I seen they were making an abuse deterrent oxycodone. But I didn't think that was percocet. Just the oxycodone without the Tylenol. However I didn't think it was a approved yet. By what I read. I could be wrong.

I also thought that was for people who abuse it and crush it. Not ones who take pill form. Like it won't work if it's crushed or something like that. Again I could be wrong.
