Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 9)

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

I cannot begin to tell you how angry I am right now. So Actavis is experimenting with us for free? In the menatime I have been sick as hell for 3 weeks. Terrible anxiety. No wonder I went thru like ALL my Xanax. Sleep issues. Cant sleep or sleep for 18 hours. Calling Actavis to complain. Let us know what else you may find out. At work, so this has to be short. I don't get it though. If they take the active pain ingredient out of percocet, what is the point for pain patients/ They changed Oxycontin so it cannot be broken or chewd but it sill takes the pain away. Although I've heard theyre not as strong. So we werent all crazy for noticing this Activis crap was bad. And everyone else (pharmacies) said it was the same drug. Not. Wow, livid!

Hi Martin, yes it seems that Actavis is experimenting with our bodies I say this is cause for a legal suit. This is totally NOT right. You mentioned you are in pain I was curious as to how you felt after you got your new medication yesterday you said you were going to take a pill after work? Any relief? Any side effects? If I can't get the brand name I am trying to call around and find roxicet. I spoke with my sister and her friend had the roxicet but she lives in Illinois. She said it worked great for her - no issues. I won't go with Amneal or Alvogen. I see Jan is on the Mallinkrofdt but is having problems with that one as well as far as no pain relief. How much longer can we go on without pain medication that WORKS. I have the worst depression today again with crying episodes on and off it is unreal. As I posted in my original post way back when this all started - it is WRONG what they are doing to us and how can a company just switch meds on people who have depended on it for years just in order to get out of bed in the morning? I can tell you these Actavis pillls will not be flying off the shelves - they will see in a very short amount of time that people will NOT put their life in jeopardy anymore and take this BS crap they call a pain medication. Clearly it is NOT doing what it is intended for.

Hi Martin...No..we are not crazy! I posted the link in a message but they didnt post it. I have been trying since yesterday morning to let u all know what I read. This morning I checked this blog n nothing I sent was here so I tried again with as little info as possible in hopes of my message being posted so u guys know what's up. I read it on the internet. Generics and Biosimilars Initiative is where I saw it. It talked about actavis making an abuse deterant generic oxycodone. So the oxycodone in the actavis percocets we have been taking are a completely different formula..they had to of removed ingredients n added ot ghat ers to make it abuse deterant. We all have been going through withdrawals from the watson and gettin sick from what they used to formulate their generic. Apparently it hasn't been approved by the FDA so 2014 is basically their trial run if I understood what I read correctly. Check it out n read it. You mentioned you got a different script yesterday. What is it and is it working? I wish we were all able to call eachother n talk about our experiences...kind of like a support system without having to keep posting messages n waiting to see if its approved to post. I have to type a security code every time I try to post a message n I dont know why? Its frustrating!

What about has anyone tried Sam's club or Walmart to see what generics they have? Just a thought. Hope everyone is finding relief today.

Hi Lisa..I dont quite understand what u wrote about actavis not using it on pill form and the abuse deterant only being used for those who abuse it? The abusers are breaking up the pills to insufflate it or IV it for that immediate high and rush. Actavis removed the addictive additives and added whatever it is to prevent the oxycodone from giving that high when it is abused. So the medicine can't get abusers high. They are also trying to prove that when doing this, their form of oxycodone can still give pain relief to those who need it. In changing up their formula, its making everyone sick and not working at all in helping control our pain. The article I read is on a site from Generics and Biosimilar Initiative. The article itself is titled , Actavis makes agreement for abuse deterant oxycodone. The article is dated march 5 2013. I encourage everyone to look it up and read it...form their own opinion on what the article said. I can only tell how I understood it. Let me know what u think.

I too am having bad headaches and anxiety from these pills unable to work tomorrow. Will return to MD for new script also use eahlgreens. Not anymore though. They could care less.

Hi Lisa, and everyone,

Well, today was better thank goodness! I did wait 4 hours between doses, and That seemed to help. I also used 1 lidocaine patch instead of 2, because the pain seemed worse with 2. I did use 1 more pill today, than I'm supposed to but I think it will get better. I think my body is getting used to the Mallinckrodt. If it goes well by the end of the month, I will stick with this brand. It's really frustrating, to try to get your body used to a new medication. I can't wait to ask the pain clinic about stronger meds. I'm afraid to ask my P.C. doctor. Well, I hope things get better for everyone. It's so funny about the abuse studies ect. I said in the beginning, that it was probably something to wean us off oxycodone. That's really terrible for those of us in real pain. Do they really think we would risk our livers, if we were not in real pain? Keep in touch everyone. Please let us all know if you find something good for pain.

I just found out I can get brand name. I spoke to my insurance and walgreens and they have brand name. I'm going to ask for the lower dose first. The 7.5/325 especially since it will be name brand. Has anyone else tried? You can also have your doctor do a prior auth for it if your allergic to fillers in generic. I get several meds brand name from my insurance and I never thought to check on this one.

Thanks - after reading the same complaints about Activus' Percocet, I called the corporation, spoke with several representatives and even emailed them about how this pill does not work and the side effects and that I wasn't the only one. They are getting the Lot # and say they will be doing an investigation. Of course, they also said that the oxycodone is the same but the rest of the ingredients are not. I am going to also file a complaint with the FDA and anyone else that can look into this. I will also mention this site so they can see that something is "not right" with this pill.

I'd hate to see any of us be one of those a couple of years from now on those legal case claims of residual side effects just because we believe we are buying this product on good faith & end up with drywall - anyone interested in joining me? My problem is there is no other medication that will handle my pain as well as the Percocet I've been taking for years. How come we are always getting scre*#@ed and suffer because we have no choice!

Okay everyone - I actually called Activus Corporate offices and other departments and filed my complaint - Activus took over Watson and yes, they changed the total formula but if you still get Watson, it's probably the remaining supply.

Brand name is good I suppose. That is Endocet I think. Didnt people say they didnt like Endocet? not sure. They gace me Oxycodne IR 10mg which is the pure form of oxycodone. I must say so far dissapointed. Pain relief is some but minimal. Better than Actavis but not as good as Watson. Getting frustrated as in some deal of pain and have to work. Not easy. Jennifer I read the article. Not sure I completely understand it. But I think that thye are saying that the Actavis is making a abuse detterent pill. I don't think it means it doesnt have the pain reliever, I think it supposed to mean that you cant break it up or eat it to get the effects faster. They did the same thing to Oxycontin recently. I know becasue i take them. It is a very hard pill that cannot be manipulated or altered. While I still think the Actavis pills suck big time, I don't think they can withold the active pain ingredient legally. But I know they are trying to cut out the drug addicts and abusers. But what about us people in pain? If a pain pill doesnt relieve our pain what is the point??? I may need to go to a stronger pill such as Dilaudid cause right now I am in great pain. It is making it hard to do my job effectively. I have had posts to be "reviewed" also. They never showed up. You have to read the guidelines below, certain so called innocent things can't be posted. I agree I wish we could talk in another forum.

I just wrote a super long post that was deleted. So it seems Actavis is making this abuse deterrent drug. I think that just means irt cant be broken up or eaten. I am now on OXYCODONE IR and they dont work that good. I give up. Thanks

The pharmacist said name brand doesn't have the cheap fillers which is what causes most reactions.

I am taking the Oxycodone IR brand now. Thye are better than Actavis but not as good as Watson. I have posted several replies that were longer but did not go through. I will try again later. Thanks.

Hi lisa..This goes for everyone else too....just make sure if ur getting the name brand Percocet or straight oxycodone, DO NOT GET THE ACTAVIS BRAND. They are still making the oxycodone n no matter how u get it from them, whether straight oxycodone or whatever, they still messed with the formula to make their abuse deterant oxycodone so just be careful when u refill.

Hi, I thought that the name brand percocet with tylenol in it is made by Endo and is a blue pill? Some people may even be sensitive to the dyes in these blue pills that are brand name percocet 5/325.

Hey Martin...sorry ur new script isn't working for u...I dont know what we can try that will help us. Its so upsetting stressing over how we re going to control our pain. What actavis is doing is removing the addictive additives from oxycodone and adding other things to prevent the oxycodone from being able to give abuses an immediate high if broken down. If they try and cut it up and insufflate it for example, it wont release the drug in one big shot so they can't feel high...no matter what someone does to the pill, it will only release over a period of time. The Watson's would work immediately for us...they weren't an extended release medicine so it controlled r pain...the actavis is an extended release Percocet....they removed additives that were necessary for pain control...being the reason it worked for us and now it doesn't. I hope that makes sense. I've read a bunch of articles on the internet about it since finding that original one I listed in previous posts. Im going to see my doctor tomorrow and see what he has to say n go from there. Wish me luck all! .

Hi Martin, sorry to hear the new pill is not that great either. I believe the brand name oxycodone with tylenol is made by Endo the same company that makes Endocet which I, like you have also heard Endocet sucks and causes alot of nausea. The brand name are a blue pill and some people have complained about the dye in these pills too. What can we do now? I am in pain now in places I didn't even know I had pain in when I was taking Watson. I stay in bed most of the day now. This really sucks - don't know what other options are out there now. I see a pain management doctor every 2 months so I can't see him again until late April. I still have not re-filled my rx. I was told now by the pharmacy that I can get brand name percocet if I want it - but now am very leary because if it doesn't work I am stuck until late April as my doctor is one you can't just get in to see and he won't write a new prescription. I feel for you Martin and everyone else on this blog that is suffering. So unfair to all of us.

So I'm confused they took certain things out if it to prevent from getting high but to me that seems to make people that don't abuse it the oxycodone wouldn't be as effective for anyone or if at all so pretty much everyone is wasting their money?? And walgreens and cvs is pretty much all we have and cvs 5mg is what thing but 7.5 and 10 is another brand my fiance is thinking about going to 5s from 10s because it's not actavis! It's crazy what they are doing and it just seems they doing all this for abusers but so many people are pain worry about drunk drivers or something because I have seen and dealt with people in withdrawal and it's bad. I hope everyone is okay today

Jennifer I will read this article to pretty much like you said people are with drawali ng and dealing with a new not even approved formula for pain relief so pain suffers are testers so it seems like complaints need to continue to be made so this is not accepted and why would Watson let them do this and be sold out.
