Suboxone Was Ruining Me

Updated

I was addicted to Percocet and Vicodin for 4 years I finally got off of them and immediately was prescribed suboxone 8mg a day. 3 weeks in I started getting tingly arms and hands and was so painful it would wake me up in the middle of the night. Suboxone doctor told me it was probably carpal tunnel so I got a wrist brace and a shot in my wrist. About 6 weeks in I couldn't wake up on time for work. I wasn't enjoying anything i was just going through the motions. I almost lost my job but my boss gave me some time off. So 9 weeks in I quit cold turkey. Day 1 and 2 were not bad as suboxone was most likely still in my system. Day 3 a lot of anxiety horrible chills and cold sweats body aches fatigue day 4 depression and anxiety and stomach issues. Day 5 stomach issues. This is day 6 and I feel pretty good and am feeling things again. I'm back at the gym and sleeping 8 hours instead of 12. I'm looking forward to going back to work in a couple days. And no more numbness or pain in my arms or hands... So it wasn't carpal tunnel. Definite side effect. I know people are effected differently by suboxone and other meds due to physiology and other factors but if you are feeling not like you're really alive on suboxone it's time to get off. I will fight through cravings for as long as I have to but I will never go back to the zombie I was becoming on suboxone.

Hello, Bealive! How are you? I'm very sorry about what happened.

From most of the symptoms you've described, it sounds like you were on too high of a dosage of Suboxone and it should have been lowered. You aren't the first person who's reported such issues.

As to the wrist problem, that has been known to happen in some people with some narcotics. I had a similar problem, while on Morphine and, in that case, going off of it is usually the only solution.

The FDA lists these medication as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

How are you doing, now? Are you feeling any better, yet?

I've been off suboxone for 3 weeks and I am feeling fantastic. A little impulsive but more aware and confident. I have to learn to live with myself completely sober but for the first time ever I feel like I can do it. I was on 8mg of suboxone a day. They had me on the pills because my insurance wouldn't cover the films. Does that make a difference do you think?

I don't think so, they seem to affect most people the same, regardless of which one they take.

I hope things continue to be well for you.

Please post back and keep me updated!
