New Subutex Laws (Page 15)

Updated

I went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone.

He straight lied to who? I know you're not talking to me. I have been on subutex for 3 years now and know dozens of people at my doctors office and other doctor offices that got swapped when that law went into place.

you sir are a good person. Everyone thinks that if you are on subs or tex that you are a dumb junkie, every day of my life is filled with back pain and every kind of headache known to man.

Wow to you. If you had any idea about what you are talking about you would know that the vast majority of addicts would gladly get off dope, if it were a simple matter of will power. Addiction rewires your brain, so do a little research before showing your ignorance. I'd enjoy a battle of intellect / knowledge / and compassion, but you are obviously unarmed.

RYAN YORK: The only reason Naloxone is even in Suboxone is to keep people from injecting it, so Subutex and Suboxone are basically the same drug. And there really is no need to inject Bupe anyway, because those of us with legitimate opioid addictions aren't going to get "high" from Bupe anyway.

they are not the same thing!!!!, i was on suboxone for years and suffered from frequent daily migraines, come to find out I'm allergic to the naloxone in the SUBOXONE. subutex doesn't have naloxone, only buphenorphine, and telling someone to just stop, clearly ur not an addict, none of us chose that route, we didn't just wake up one day saying I'm going to be an addict! its a little more difficult than that!

ok I'm speaking from my experience and the research I've done, and the lies i have been told through my clinic, they want you on suboxone because of the naloxone (blocker), i seen counselors weekly at a clinic, told them EVERYTIME, i still have migraines, multiple cat scans & mri's later, i decided to find a addictionologist who specializes in only addiction, found out i was allergic to naloxone and my clinic wasn't smart enough to put 2 and 2 together or they didn't want to tell me, since i started the subtext i have been headache free plus I'm actually happy and jolly if thats not to queer, the naloxone was causing me to have mild depression and i didn't even realize it. my doctor (the addictionologist) also told me some people not all require to be on this for life, unfortunently i am one of those few, i would actually love to be off but the 12 yrs of drug abuse and the 11 years of subs will do that to ya. o and i also wanted to state and emphasize on this- every person is different everything we do or take will effect people differently, what works for one maybe won't work on another, what makes you sick could help someone else, i noticed people on here (a few not all) are acting like what they say is how it will be to everyone, I've read through these and can tell just from the post there are quite a few people replying that are not addicts and probably never done a drug in their life. no one will ever know your story, thats what makes us unique and if a person isn't or wasn't an addict there is absolutely no way they could even begin to understand anything about addicts. but as i conclude this we addicts are a strong preserving bunch of people! that have more life experiences than people that aren't addicts. no one chooses this path saying I'm going to go do a bunch of opiates, become addicted and spend all my money on them and all my time getting them, how many of u had frequent trips to the ER with a fake symptom just to get ur fix, i mean most of us should receive an emmy for our performances, right. who really wanted and chose to be there? not a one of us.but as we learn from our mistakes and are so passionate about helping others on this very scary path just remember all we've overcome just makes us that much stronge, and our personal experiences has made us who we are, and I'm proud of where i am, and who i am. i regret nothing because it has all brought me to this person I've become.

No s*** KKH. And where did you get anything about intravenous administration. I never said anything in regards to that matter. I was giving a possible explanation. I have taken suboxone and have been on subutex for a very long time. Know all about the two drugs. And from experience noticed that doctors are uncomfortable prescribing subutex over suboxone unless you are allergic to naloxone or pregnant ect.

This is sad, damned if you do and damned if you don't!! Ppl like James, jay, Jim, whatever his name is, will spend their lives judging others, putting them down, and working hard to make them feel less than human, mainly to make himself feel better about his own life! What it is, is Jimmy jam has, more than likely, successfully detoxed from his alcoholism, maybe after a year of binge drinking, and feels like he is a real man now. In order to continue feeling his sense of superiority he needs to continually bash others who he feels may have a more difficult rehabilitation process. When, in fact, any addiction; from a chocolate addiction to opiate addiction, is a battle! Yes, opiate addiction changes the chemical reactions and responses in an addicts body and brain, but most addictions do that. The difference is that in an opiate addicts brain those receptors have been "out of commission" for so long they forget how to work after a while. One of the first things I learned when I first started Nursing school was the traits of a successful RN, and the main traits were empathy, compassion, and tolerance. If you don't have those, or at the very least empathy, you will end up a mediocre RN, who will not advance or succeed. My guess is Jimmy jam's career is pretty stagnate and he has not held a permanent position in any medical facility. I only speculate because he has made it clear he is ok speculating and judging others. Good luck to all who are battling addiction, it's not an easy path, but it is a rewarding one!!

TIFFANYRN: I'm thinking "Jim" most likely didn't get enough attention from his mommy, so now he seeks out the attention of strangers on the internet. That or he has such glaring issues of his own that this is all just "deflection". Or, likely BOTH. I've taken a couple psych classes in my day, so I have this jerk figured out. But it certainly doesn't take a psych degree to see that "Jim" very clearly has some issues. Why would someone PURPOSELY seek out a forum about addiction, just to insult addicts? I mean, how sad is that? I wonder what is so lacking in "Jim", that THIS is where he finds his self-esteem? THIS is what he does with his time? Poor thing. There will always be pathetic losers like "Jim" in the world who focus on the problems of others in order to minimize their OWN issues, and they will always come off as pathetic and desperate little men. No one is fooled by your idiotic bluster "Jim"... NO ONE.

I've had the same thing done to me with being on subutex for 3 yrs and my doctor was retiring, so he says and referred me to a new doctor at 3x a day and then I went to the new doctor and I immediately got tapered and discharged; and with no taper dose because I was not compliant with a pill count!! So I have to go cold turkey which is very dangerous I say!! I hope I live through it. I cannot find a new doc to take me unfortunately.

LEANNA: Can I assume you have already been to the Suboxone.com website and contacted all the Suboxone doctors in your area?

If I was you, I would go to the ER and tell them the situation. You shouldn't have to be going cold turkey.

When Drs keep changing your meds around it has a very bad effect on a persons body because your body is used to having the same things in it everyday and as for people being weak it is a very hard job to come off of opiates without help if you were ever a addict you would know this. You don't cut a person down because they take Suboxon or Subutex to get off of opiates people make bad decisions everyone does it's just this one affected there Health and for at least wanting to be clean again is really great these people are not someone that you think ars bad they come from all backgrounds of life so don't hurt what they are wanting to do you should help them

Leanna, I went on the Buprenorphine website and found a few Drs in my area that emailed me saying that they had reviewed my report and said that they can help me, and one Dr is from the place where my Dr quit and the clinic gave me a 1 month supply of my meds. They must have just hired him so I called there and the girl got kind of s***ty with me saying since you were released I needed to talk to the manager, so she switched me to her phone and I got her voicemail - so I said that this Dr that worked there emailed me that he could care for me and I was to call and make appt to talk to him, but I never got a phone call back from the manager yet. I have 3 other Drs that said they would see me, but being on disability I don't have the money at the moment to see one of them until I get my check on the 3rd. So I was going thru withdrawals and I ended up back on drugs I did not want to be on, but the clinic gave me no other choice and I have had 2 strokes already and my family Dr said that if I go thru withdraws I could have another stroke and die and I want to live for a long time. But go on the Buprenorphine website and see if you can find a Dr in your area. I am sure if you will keep your Dreams and Hopes up someday they will come true I promise.

It's sad that pain killer addiction is the worst epidemic the U.S has ever seen. It's relatively easy to get a prescription for Oxycontin, or even worse, Fentanyl. But good luck trying to get in a treatment program for it. 15 years ago at the age of 40 I had yet to use any kind of drugs. Then I broke my back in an accident. At the end of 3 years my doctor had me up to 8 x 80mg OxyContin. He told me on the day he took me off them I would feel like I had a mild case of the flu for a couple days.

The rest of the story is the same as millions of other patients that were clueless as to the road they were about to travel. My story is one of the very few with somewhat of a happy ending due to a subutex program. If only subutex were made easier to obtain then perhaps I wouldn't have lost my home on 10 acres of land, all my vehicles including 2 Harley Davidsons, and my wife. The DEA needs to worry about the schedule 1 drugs that cause addiction, and not the schedule 3 drugs that help people get off them. Who gives a damn if subutex can help one person out of 10 that will abuse it then so be it.....

@Jim, do you usually answer questions on subjects you know absolutely nothing about? No, they are not the same, so you don't know what you're talking about, nor did you even listen to the question. You're too busy being a judgemental ass because you are obviously a perfect human who has never made a mistake, which gives you the right to place judgment on others apparently. You also must have such important opinions, since you assume people are interested in hearing them. Subutex doesn't contain naloxone but suboxone does, and many people suffer from allergies and sensitivities to the naloxan, making it difficult or impossible to take suboxone. New laws say Subutex can only be prescribed to a pregnant women, so those who aren't pregnant and who can't take naloxone need to take Subutex instead of suboxone to keep allergic and adverse reactions from occurring. The question was about the limitations on prescribing Subutex, which you obviously didn't understand. You must be of a high intellect for trying to down someone who has sought treatment for addiction and who is trying to better themselves. May I ask how you are so familiar with the subject?

Jim ... BS. Why do you even come to this page? Do you feel better than others hiding behind your computer? Judging vs helping or stating out of it? Like are you ashamed you wear women's clothing? Trust me, no one would judge, and I am pretty sure you are not what you say you are. If you do wear women's clothing no one here would judge. The only crime I feel would be sexual molesters. So why don't you go to your fetish page and get support for your closet habits? People become addicted for a number of reasons. You should not judge until you have been in those shoes. God bless you and pray you are not judged as harshly when you die.
