He didn't prescribe anything because you probably didn't ask because where I'm from you need to see a pain specialist for your on going pain. If I were you I would look for a new doctor if this Dr. Doesn't give you anything for your pain look on the internet Get rid of the Dr. You are seeing right now cause he won't prescribe anything for you. That's a good idea to me I think you need a new Dr. That will understand your situation.

NSAIDS rot your stomach, liver, kidneys, etc. Top notch advice there. There are more deaths related to NSAIDS than opiates! For the love of God...talk to your DR!

Hi Sharon,

To answer your first question, Oxycodone is said to be approximately 1.5x as potent on a milligram to milligram basis. So for each 30mg Oxycodone, you'd need 45mgs of Morphine. However because everyone reacts to these medications differently, it's almost like comparing apples and bananas here.

Regarding side effects, drug interactions state that "using morphine together with oxycodone may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications."

Lastly, both oxycodone and morphine list "vomiting" as a general side effect. Perhaps this is what you're experiencing?

You can learn more about these drugs on the page for Morphine Details and Oxycodone Details

I hope this info helps!

That can happen and is probably more common than one would think. 30mg IR oxycodone is a great pain killer. I opted to switch from 30mg morphine IR to oxycodone and it has made a HUGE difference! Morphine made me tired and I felt worthless, not much pain, but still found it very hard to function at work. After 2 years of that, I finally asked my doctor if there were any other options to help control my pain. He started me on 15mg oxycodone IR twice daily and continued my morphine 30mg IR at night so I would still get relief from it, but it wouldn't affect my work. The first week was almost unbearable and he told me to take 30mg of the oxycodone twice a day and continue the morphine at night. I almost feel better than I did before my car wreck when I broke 3 vertebrae in my back!!! Try that and see how it works. I've been on it for 3 years and it still works just as well as day one!

You are sick feel head pain and like ready to throw up because I bet you are taking your last dose over 8 hours before you wake up. The sick feeling is you are withdrawing the drug is wearing off you need another dose. That's why they are so bad when you stop times 10000 you feel worst then that. So to stop that when you wake up take your dose and get up 15/20 minutes later. You will feel perfect. So to answer your question. You are in minor minor withdrawal symptoms

How in the world would you get your doctor to give you all those pain meds. All my painspecialists would ever give me over 18 years of excruciating pain from my waist down with a level 10 pain several hours every day. I am in bed every day. Anyway, I just got off 15 mg of Morphine Sulfate, and prescribed 10 mg of Oxycodone for breakthrough pain, and Opana 30 mg ER (was on 40). Doctors here in PA are trying to get all there narcotic patients off of them, they all talk about an epidemic and one Dr. told me the other day that by 2018 there will be no more companies manufacturing narcotics. He said some companies have already have stopped production. I called my insurance co. and they said that doctor was just trying to scare me. My doctors are trying to get me off of everything with oxy on it.

I was taking only morphine (30 mg X 10-12 per day) for about six years and over time I have become very lethargic and very low functioning. I have read others had the same experience. I recently switched to 1/2 oxy and 1/2 morphine and like it a lot better. I do have more energy. I would advise against going all morphine. It didn't even help with my pain after awhile. But as with all opioids, they stop working and you need to up the dosage or switch to something stronger. I read some ppl will alternate between 2 meds every couple weeks to prevent this. I'm thinking of doing that with oxy and dilaudid but continuing the morphine (so 1/4 dilaudid, 1/4 oxy, and 1/2 morphine taking the morphine with the oxy and dilaudid) just because I don't want to ramp all the way up to two stronger drugs. I'm hoping I won't have to switch to anything stronger again.

I personally can't take morphine usually because it does give me a migraine when I wake up. I have a similar reaction with versed as well so if you have that just take some Naproxen (Aleve) if there's no Advil in your medication or the only other thing that works on the headache is toradol. List it as a sensitivity with drs and ER. If you list it as an allergy they may not be able to give you a script or you may not be able to fill them if it's showing as an allergy.

How does the CBD affect any U/A? The last thing I could handle is being kicked out of pain management due to a U/A.

Hi Sharon, I don't know if f you found an answer to your question yet, but what I found out from personal experience is that I got terrible headaches from MS IR 30 mg 1-2 every 6 hours prn and what my pain mgmt doc did is prescribe zipsor 25 mg every four hours to get rid of the headaches. Zipsor is a NSAID so if you can tolerate that with no interactions...ask your doc or try an OTC equivalent.

Morphine, for some reason, seems to make women sick to their stomachs. Not sure why but the, unofficial, research I've done (just asking various people) all come back with the answer the same....The woman in someones life or the woman herself says morphine makes me throw up. The pain relief is minimal. Not sure where you stand on medical marijuana but todays marijuana is not the same as it used to be. What is used today for pain is one ingredient in the marijuana, no thc. It is called cbd. I would research it for yourself. It is the only thing that has kept me on my feet for over 23 years. All the prescription pain med from the doctors don't work like the cbd. It can be bought on amazon, which means there is no thc in it. They would not be able to sell it if it did. I use two or three hit on a cbd pen, no smoke either, and I'm back on my feet within an hour and out shoveling snow or washing the car or just washing the dishes. I am a chef by trade and have stopped cooking at home because just standing in the kitchen is extremely painful. A little cbd and I'm back in the kitchen or whatever standing with no help. Research it and give it a try. With no thc you cannot feel high from it. I tried it in cookies and things you can eat but my experience is that it takes too long to digest and loses a lot of its effect. Good luck with your ouchies. My best wishes for a new painless or at least less pain new year.
