How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 6)

Updated

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

oh oh oh but there just might be. My doctor just signed me up for a case study @ Brown to get off suboxones. so for all those people who think everyone is out to get them and thier money they really might be trying to help you. The drug is taking for 2 wks and is suposed to repair neurotransmitters in the brain. that is why when we get off subs you still feel crapy cause we have burned out the ability to reproduce certain neurotransmitters. so any who I let ya no how it goes it will start Jan.2013.

If I do what you said which I am doing now - I take 4 mg per day (I've been on subs for almost 6 years now and started with 3 like most, but stayed on 3 pills per day for way too long); I take 2 mg in the am of subutex since it is easier to get off of than regular strips or subs, and 2 mg in the afternoon. I am usually sick by late evening and I yawn a lot! I take vitamins, minerals and so forth. However what you said is sorta clicking with me for some odd reason about lowering 10 % every 10 days and allowing yourself to feel sick in between each dose and stretch it out as much as you can even if you cant fall asleep.

So im on day 6..not withdrawing nearly as bad but I still can't sleep no matter what I take to try to knock me out.. and I try not to take much of anything because I don't want to be too groggy in the morning. what bothers me the most is the lack of energy..my brain wants to do so many things but my body won't let me :( taking lots of vitamins.. when does the energy start to come back?

Here is a trick: Exercise as much as you can. I know you have other things that you want to do physically too but this really works and here is why:

The trick is forcing your body to release endorphins (Runners High/Natural High). The only way to release endorphins is to exercise really hard for at least 30 mins or 45 if you can. Whether I take subs or not- I feel the natural endorphins being released when I exercise and push myself very hard :). So, without taking subs, you will still feel the endorphins when they are released. You have to keep at it every single day. It is going to be very hard the first few days, but it may also make you tired this evening. Also, if you aren't taking a megadose of "Nature's Bounty" Vitamin B Complex sublingual cherry dropper as an extra source of ONLY Vitamin b's along with L-Tyrosine bought at GNC, then get to it! Every morning (dont ever ever take at night!) before eating, take both together and take as many L Tyrosine pills u can handle up to 4 at the very most (or 2,000 mgs). Then exercise immediately thereafter, take a hot bath or shower and then get to your daily activities that you say your brain wants to do but your body cannot. Don't focus on "how you feel" and you honestly won't feel it as much. Pretend you are a little sick with a cold or flu. Don't go back on those evil pills! You can do it!

I was on subs for 6 years too...ouch :/ too long...

so it seems to be true that it takes about 30 days..? its been just over two weeks for me, and although i feel much better, i still get restless at night, upset stomach in the morning, and most of all, just completely drained and weak. trying to be patient! i suffer bad from depression and anxiety so my new doc started me on antidepressants..hopefully that'll help, though that'll take time too..just want it to end! It feels like it will never go away...

You should be so proud of yourself. You made it, you are off this awful pill. I know depression comes with it but it sounds like you have a good dr. Can u tell me how he told you to go about it. I'm down to small pieces a day, but I can't make that jump. I want off, I hate it. But be proud of yourself, depression will go away and you will get your energy back. I have such a long road to go. But i'm hoping to be like you one day.

people are saying that if u can taper down to small pieces that's the easiest way..even go every other day, every two, etc...for me, this wasnt an option. i was on it for so long and i couldnt miss a dose and still function or go to work so i stopped at about .75mg. make sure you have a good doctor that will give you what you need to get through the accute wd's..i was given klonopin for anxiety, chlonodine for aches and resltess legs, plus my bp was sky high, and trazadone for sleep. only take what you really need, you don't wanna get hooked on anything else, but don't make yourself suffer either. I recommend mentioning to your doc maybe finding a mild mood stabilizer or antidepressant as well, but that's up to him..my original doc had me on lamictal for bipolar, which im not, and all it's done is make me tired. so now im on prozac..still waiting to feel its effects, that should help with energy too. take vitamins, drink lots of water. rest when you're at your worst, but when you start to feel better, try to stay busy and exercise. it keeps your mind occupied and makes time go by faster. you have to really want to kick this, and have patience! when i kicked oxy's, it took me months to get back to "normal"..i hoped i would never have to go through it again, but such is life..i've learned my lesson!

How are you doing? Have you been able to stay off? The tapering technique for me would only take me soo far and once I got to about a 1/4 of a pill the withdrawls were constant so I decided to stop completely... It's the roughest withdrawls I could imagine and like many people I had work I had to still manage plus a family... I posted my technique earlier in the post(early2012) so please ask if you have any questions. It's now almost been a year and I can verify that it is possible to get off completely and life does return. Defiantly the 30day mark is a big difference maker.. I wish I could say its earlier but it really isn't. Even after 30 days it's still rough but it improves significantly. You have to fight it like a war and not give an inch of your progress back to the subs.. My first couple weeks I took small amounts of Kratom(find in a smoke shop). Which I think helped me get through some of the worst times... Let me know I you don't find my earlier post with my detailed method... I wish everyone well and remember that the human mind and spirit(soul) is eternal and is the most powerfuL force. It can overcome any obstacle...

Very impressive... I dont know many people that have been able to make it that long. Less than 5 % of opiate dependent individuals get off longterm and I know it's even less for those on subozone..
Definitely understand the motivation issues... Loud music in my head phones seemed to really helped.. Especially when I was feeling intense symptoms... It seemed to help the nuerotransmiters fire ..

I had been on the subs so long they were just kinda making me sick..it felt like poison..so def no desire to go back..that made it easy mentally. But i will say, because im so lethargic, its tempting to take pills again..i wont because im sick of the cycle, but i get cravings :/ music definitely helps..its always helped me :) just crossing my fingers that ill feel a little more normal by Halloween..its my fav holiday!

I've been on 2 8 mg/ day for five Yeats now. However I'm happy to state that in the last two months I've become quite sick of being dependent. I have allowed this drug to stop me from going on many jobs paying in the 35-50 an hour range and deprive my family of what would be a good life. I had enough and I'm now taking one a day and did it in 2 days time. Im plan on gojng to 3/4 a day next week. Im going to kick this crap for good. I have also found that by going to the gym it helps cut the craving and anxiety. Im also going to buy my wife and kids a new car with the $600/month ill save. Whats your motivation? a y

CAROL hi just some new info on the study the med is suppose to remove the extra receptor site called muns (not sure i spelled that right), that our brain has made during opiod abuse. i was told that is y sub 's are hard to get off of because brain won't ever make enough dopamine to fill the extra sites. after 9week abused brain will have just as may receptor sites as a "normal" brain. theres been one other study done in NH & it worked, but was done illegally so this one is officially the 1st 18 people on the east coast 18 people on the west coast.
