How To File Grievance?

Updated

Recently my clinic was made to have 15 minute counseling sessions with each patient once a week. This has turned into a huge problem. The clinic wasn't prepared for this obviously. We were told to pick a day we wanted our session. So there's no real schedule, you go in and hope 10 people aren't ahead of u because they have a strict policy that u cant reschedule your session under any circumstance. I've seen people that had to get to court, people so sick they were on their way to the ER and they wont let you reschedule. Supposedly they aren't supposed to make u wait longer than 30 mins but they only follow that when they have 4 or 5 people in their face b****ing. In my case yesterday I got there a little over 35 mins before I had to be at work and like always there were a ton of people ahead of me. As it got closer to the time i had to leave to get to work on time so I asked to reschedule and was told no even though a girl after me was in same situation and they let her get dosed and leave. If u don't have ur session u cant get dosed. This is crazy! You have to decide if u wanna get fired and wait or leave! Yesterday I was 23 mins late to work and my boss sent me home. I lost $100. So my question is, who can I file a complaint with other than the clinic itself? They are being very unreasonable with these counseling sessions and no structure. I feel like I'm at their mercy. I'm detoxing now down to 13 mg trying to get away from this damn place!

Well, you can start with small claims court and also file with local and state medical associations and/or boards if you win in small claims for this incident seeing you only lost a days pay it will help future litigation possibly but if it happens again and costs you your job get a lawyer ...... i am not a lawyer but it is one way to go .... be prepared get your evidence together and get a hidden recording device for future visits.

I understand you want to file a grievance but just beware they will not be happy campers and it may come back to bite you in the butt. My experience is you are reliant on them for meds and they can pretty much make your life hell. I am going trough something similar at a Suboxone clinic. They were gonna let me go without a medication I have been on since 2008 because they didn't get the necessary pre-authorization. Thank God the pharmacy is run by people who care and they let me buy 5 days of meds until I could straighten it out. Just be ready for backlash. Good Luck.

I was on Methadone for 6 years and had the same problem. I've now been on Suboxone for 11 years completely clean and don't have to sit in the xanax parking lot waiting so I'm not late or at some clinics where its first come first serve I have an appt every 6 months which started out 1 month then three. Suboxone saved my life because I have no cravings for anything and I'm even a real alcoholic. If I were you I would switch clinics. It's amazing you're at 13 but 5is when most folks jump back cup to thirty or 40.

They are just like the drug dealers. They control your life. You're on 13 mgs. Ask for suboxone and get off that crap. I've been on 34 yrs. I figure they never suggested if I want to detox. I was happy cause I was off the heroin. Nowadays there are too many addicts and not enough clinics. Good luck.

I've written in before about off brand doses of lorazepam such as Actavis or Sandoz, Leading, or really any others EXCEPT Qualitest or Watson. I just found out my new pharmacist who promised me he could order the main brands for me, only can get bottles of 1000; they won't ship bottles of 100 from Qualitest anymore. CVS, Walgeens, all big chains have switched to these cheap brands and THEY DO NOT WORK!! These off brand companies are allowed to remove 20% of the main ingredient and put in more fillers which causes withdrawals. I've been on 1 mg twice a day for 12 years for severe panic attacks and have been trying to wean myself way down on MS Contin, and the lorazepam keeps me from side effects. I've dropped from 200 mg twice a day, the highest dose of oral morphine and am now down to 100 mg twice a day, my choice, all with the help of a very good internist, not a pain clinic, and the lorazepam which I CANNOT go without.. My pharmacist is willing to order the bottle of 1000 and keep them just for me. Maybe yours would too. I get 60 a month so will for sure be using them.

Be persistent and change to a smaller family owned pharmacy and they're much more willing to keep their patients happy.

I don't understand how people say they are clean, when on suboxin!!! It's still an opiate. Try getting off suboxin, it's a replacement drug.

Its in Maryland. They are all about getting your money. They let u go up in mg's no problem but the moment you say you want to detox or reduce your dose its a huge hassel! I had to wait 3 weeks to see a doctor so i could start my detox. They want to keep you trapped there!

Anyone can complain about anything. That does not mean things will change. This is one of the things addicts have to deal with. If you complain, the clinic can drop you as a patient.

BL just because someone has chronic pain and take meds for it does not make them an addict..... THIS IS THE CRAP THAT CREATES THE PROBLEM .. so i guess according to this thinking anyone on a perscribed drug regiment is an addict .... diabetics blood pressure cholesterol anti-organ rejection drugs .... this should also include alcohol and tobacoo use on a consistant basis say once or twice a week would qualify ..... so what drug are you addicted to with that thinking ......... ignorance of issues creates issues .....

JB, you're right it's an opiate but the naloxone keep the opiate from reacting. Whatever it takes to get our doses down and not detoxing is well worth it!

Look up the doctor(s), nurses and Physican's Assistant that are running the clinic you are attending. File a complaint against the doctor (personally). Complaints against the clinic can also be filed. Look on-line for your state's Medical Board.

Provide the detail the agency needs to record your complaint(s) on-line. If the complaints do not appear on-line, then complain to the State Comptroller, Govenor's office, and the state attorney general.

Write and continue to write "letter to the editor" to your local newspaper, with your complaint. Keep confidential, if they will allow it.

And last but not least: FIRE THE CLINIC. Find ones that are there for their patients and not only for greed.

YOU are the customer, not them. They are not your Mom, Dad, or Employer. Make sure you let them know that you do not work for them and could care less about their regulations. Especially, when they do not have the patients best interest at heart.

If this is a court ordered requirement. Contact the Judge directly. But be nice in your complaint. No name calling, etc. "Just the Facts, Ma'am!", as Sargent Friday used to say.

Yes, but it's still a crutch. I think it's great, but I hate when people say they are sober when they are still depending on something else! Don't say your completely sober when your realiying on another drug.

Don't they have classes on the weekends? It's a state law in some states that u have to have counselling or they will cut funding. You're lucky u don't go to a cash only clinic and have just one meeting a week - it's 3 hours long.

The clinic is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Only the nurses are there so u have to do your session during the week. And that's exactly why this started because medicaid wont pay unless they started doing this. They aren't doing it because they give a s*** about us.
