If I took 1 small dose of Heroin on Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm. Will I be clean for my drug test on Monday at 5 pm? I'm giving it 5 days. Is that enough time to pass my drug test?

Using heroin can kill you, but it may not be in the way you think. The number of drug overdose deaths in the United States haverisen steadily since 1970. Painkillers actually kill more Americans than heroin and cocaine combined, according to the Centers for Disease Control, but heroin is still one of the No. 1 killers of illegal drug users. Only one in 10heroin overdoses ends in death. Overdose deaths from heroinhave increased recently, and heroin use is also on the rise.In 2011, 4.2 million Americans over the age of 11 had tried heroin at least once, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. An estimated23% of them will become addicts. And it's addicts who die more frequently than new users, studies show how heroin works. When someone takes heroin there is an immediate rush. Then the body feels an extreme form of relaxation and a decreased sense of pain. What's happening inside the body is the heroin is turning into morphine. Morphine has a chemical structuresimilar to endorphins-- the chemicals your brain makes when you feel stressed out or are in pain. Endorphins inhibit your neurons from firing, so they halt pain and create a good feeling. Morphine, acting like your endorphins, binds to molecules in your brain called opioid receptors. When those receptors are blocked, that creates a high. When you die Most people die from heroin overdoses when their bodiesforget to breathe. "Heroin makes someone calm and a little bit sleepy, but if you take too much then you can fall asleep, and when you are asleep your respiratory drive shuts down," said Dr. Karen Drexler, director of the addiction psychiatry residency training program and an associate professor in Emory University's psychiatry and behavioral sciences department. "Usually when you are sleeping, your body naturally remembers to breathe. In the case of a heroin overdose, you fall asleep and essentially your body forgets." A heroin overdose can also cause your blood pressure todip significantlyandcauseyour heart tofail. Studies showintravenous heroin users are 300 times more likely to die from infectious endocarditis, an infection of thesurface of the heart. Heroin use can also cause an arrhythmia -- a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat. During anarrhythmia, the heart may not be able to pump enough blood to the body, and lack of blood flow affects your brain, heart and other organs. Heroin usecan also cause pulmonary edema.That's when the heart can't pump blood to the body well. The blood can back up into your veins, taking that blood through your lungs and to the left side of the heart. As pressure in the blood vessels increases and fluid goes into the alveoli, the air spaces in the lungs, this reduces the normal flow of oxygen through your lungs, making it hard to breathe. This too can give you a heart attack or lead to kidney failure.

U should get help straight away what on earth were you thinking of going and getting pregnant when u are an addict u need to tell u r midwife and so on and try get clean before u ruin your own babies life . That child will go threw terrible withdrawals . What do you love more heroin or your baby

You seriously need help, you obviously never researched heroin ever in your life!!! Me personally I've been using heroin about 3 years now heroin is the most addictive drug out there and the effects on your infant is that its going to be addicted to heroin when its born crying 24-7 and there is nothing the doctors can do besides hold the baby, they have volunteers rotating holding the baby. You seriously need help I truly hope you do not believe what the f*** you said!! I feel so sorry for your child. that baby did not ask to be brought into this life and you are being irresponsible and so f***ing selfish, that baby is in your whom AND everything you put in your body has an effect on your child!! When your baby is born I pray they take the baby away from you, you are unfit and need to be fixed to where you can never destroy another defenseless human

Hey piper methadone is good to get sober well soberish because to me that's still using drugs and that comes up in a 8 panel drug test but subs wont come up in a 8 panel drug test and that's better to get sober cause u don't get no high from it unless u haven't takin anything for over 4 months then take a sub and weening off subs I think is easier then methadone the best way to get sober is u have to want to and go to detox dont leave even thow u think ur feeling better and can go home and stay clean because u will be back in detox in a month or two again stay the whole detox then right from there go to rehab atleat for 30 days but u should go for 120 days and u have a good chance to stay sober

You must be pregnant and be taking heroin yourself and trying to convince yourself that heroin won't affect the life of a baby. Its people like you who f*** up other people's lives because ur so f***ing ignorant to admit you dont know jack s***! Little babies get everything their mother takes including drugs! And yes most likely it will be born premature or underweight and have an extremely weak immune system for the rest of their lives which means they are susceptible to every cold, flu and other virus going around. If you don't mind watching your baby suffer in the I.c.u. or Nic unit for months at a time keep using, if you have somewhat of a heart and are somewhat of a decent human being stopped using here and while you're pregnant. Seek help immediately!

To the person who is pregnant STOP using. Babys are inside the body so everything done to the mother's body the baby feels.

My daughter was dying on my couch from using. Her kidneys were shutting down. Her face looked like death was staring back at me. She had an infection in her blood that created a growth on her heart valve. The valve was being eaten away by the infection. After a week in ICU at our home hospital, she was transfered to a Philly hospital where they pulled 10 teeth that were infected. She had her ribs cracked open so they could do valve replacement surgery or she would die. My daughter came out of surgery where they put her on machines to help her breath. After being in that hospital for a month. After her release, off to another facility until the antibiotics were done, 6 more weeks.

Heroine alters your brain chemistry. It damages your family. They can't trust you. Every time my daughter talks to me I think she's lying because she did. Users are quick to come up with liies.

Heroine comes frim other countries trying to make zombies out of our people and we allow it. Get help.. There are free detox places. Save yourself before it's too late. THERE IS NOTHING COOL ABOUT HEROINE. It destroys lives.

It almost definitely will especially if u eat and drink water regularly. I have showed positive after 4 days but negative only after 2. Also be careful what other legal or unlegal medications u r taking as some can show positive for a wide variety of drugs. T Taff

Are you two related? You are basically telling this girl that it's ok to do heroin while pregnant!!!! You need to count your blessings that your kids came out fine. I'm so glad they are ok. As a mother you should be telling this girl to get help, not help her justify her stupidity. Somebody needs to take your children away. you probably don't know who the baby daddy's are. Do you?

I'm so sorry but he's still using. Heroin is out of the system after 5 (five) days.
I, too, am a heroin addict and I would go to extreme, ludicrous, ridiculous lengths to "prove" I was "clean", but in reality I was using and had a habit which was out of control.
As a parent, the best thing you can do is take him to a methadone clinic or to a suboxone doctor. These 2 (two) (different) medications work amazing for heroin/opiate addicts. They are called harm reduction meds and work by filling the same receptors in the brain where heroin, or other opiates, would go.

Just because you condemned yourself to a life of being an addict doesn't make it fair to drag a child into it. Get help!!! Its nine months of your life. I have been an addict for 15yrs but I made sure I got help while i was pregnant. If you want to use after birth that's on you and you have a choice, give your baby one too. Good luck.

This message has got to be the dumbest most ignorant response I have ever read. For someone to express that heroin is good for you and good for a pregnant mother is disgusting. As I was reading your response I was getting more and more heated. Heroin is like ANY drug out there, you still feel high, you nod out, you can't talk you mumble, and if your body doesn't have it you still withdrawal like you would with any other addictive drug out there. As for the methadone, I give props to anyone who is using methadone (PROPERLY) to get off heroin and then transitioning to Suboxone. Now I understand that methadone is a very bad, very addictive drug as well and has worse withdrawals than heroin because it goes into your bones BUT that is why you have to take it for a short period of time and get on Suboxone.

Now, for you to go and say the most ignorant comment I have EVER in my life heard about a baby being healthier, happier and creative coming from a mother who used during pregnancy, ARE YOU F***ING CRAZY?!? That poor baby is going to be born with withdrawls from something they had NO control over, because they were born to a weak selfish mother who's own withdrawls, comfort and sickness meant more...she can stop her withdrawls, what about the poor innocent baby who has to deal with it uncontrollably?!?! Mothers should have more WILLPOWER AND STRENGTH or they shouldn't get pregnant until they were clean!! I am speaking as a mother and former user and I would have never ever put my children through that. Maybe you should keep your opinions to yourself because your advice SUCKS!! My Advice: If your using, ask yourself, is this really worth it? Can't I be spending my $600 on rent or clothes or food or MY CHILDREN?!?!!!
