1st Time - Suboxone (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I am starting my suboxone treatment tomorrow after I'm into the ever dreaded WD's. My 1st prescription is for 8 mg. 1/2 a pill every hour until the symptoms have subsided. I have been taking 14-17 10 mg. hydrocodones a day for about 1 1/2 yrs. I'm very scared of how I am going to feel for the next few days. I am also dealing with a lot of anxiety. Does anyone know if I can take a 1/2 or whole xanax while taking Suboxone to help with anxiety? I'm reading conflicting reports on this. I've got a call into my dr., but have not heard back yet. I am very concerned about how I will be able to function for the next few days or weeks. Yesterday was my first dr. visit and prescription. I really want to kick this awful habit. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

My husband as well has started going to a suboxone clinic. He was VERY, VERY, VERY bad on pain pills. It started out with a back injury that got him prescribed to percocet, he took them like he was supposed to.......to start with, then he found that the more he took the more productive he could be on his job and would last for hours while we were making love. Then he was so immuned to the percocets the doctor switched his meds to oxycodone, and of course already being an addict these pain pills were abused as well. He eventually became immuned to the oxycodone and decided to be referred to a pain clinic. Once at the pain clinic it was discovered his back problems had worsened significantly, so he was immediately put on OxyContin 40mg 3 pills a day, Soma 3 pills a day, Xanax 1.0mg 4 times daily. He was at first afraid of the OxyContin so there were some days he didn't even take the required dosage and they worked really well at controlling the excruciating pain in his lower back pain while taking the Somas as well, but as I have always heard if its too good to be true it probably is and he started abusing the OxyContin. He eventually worked his way all the way up to the 80mg ones and by this time the fear of the pills were gone so once again like a broken record more abuse with the pain meds also along with the abuse of the Somas and the Xanax. Then the day came he had not complied with some of the pain clinics rules and got kicked out. That's when the fun really started. As if our marriage was not tough enough while he had insurance and prescriptions for all of these pills now all that was gone so he turned to buying the pills off the street. That quickly became a problem financially even though we both worked good jobs and made decent money, we started to slowly watch all that we had worked for start going back due to nonpayment or by being stolen only for it to mysteriously be found by me at a pawnshop with his signature on the loan slip. At this time we had 2 children to think of and provide for as well not just worry about where daddy's next high was coming from. Finally I couldn't handle it anymore and we split up at least 6 times a month for about a year and a half He finally agreed to get help in early 2005. I signed him into an inpatient rehab that way he couldn't decide he had changed his mind and check himself out. When they did the drug test on him at the hospital and the results came back the doctor told us all that he had enough narcotics in his system to kill 10 people!!! Hoping this was his wake up call off in an ambulance to the rehab. He lasted there for 3 days before he raised so much hell I decided if he didn't care no more about his wife and kids than that then I would sign him out of the damn rehab and file for divorce. When my attorney and me were ready to have him served with divorce papers, guess what, I missed a perod and yep I was pregnant with our third child. We stayed seperated for another month or so then got back together. I knew how much pain he was in with his back so I agreed that he could go back to another pain clinic as long as he promised to take as prescribed which he did. He did very well at keeping his promise to me til he got kicked out of this pain clinic, so once again we were back to buying off the street again but this time we didnt have anything to lose, we lived with my family and had it made. Then all of a sudden one day in late March he decided he didnt want this type of life anymore and he wanted help, and there was something about it this time that I knew he was doing it for him and not to get everybody off his case. He had his first appointment in early April at the suboxone clinic, and he has been clean 110% for almost 12 weeks now.

His doctor has him on Xanax 1.0mg 3 times a day and he is fine with it. I don't know if the doc let him have it because he's been on them before or what, so I think my advice to you would be, if you have taken them before and recently then ask your doctor to put you on them, but if not seek doctors advice, read all the articles you can on the subject and surf the net for all the information you can find on it.

I'm sorry I had to write a life's history just to answer a simple question. I hope it helps answer your question and gives you some ease about taking them. May God Bless you and be with you the whole time you are going through your program, and I pray you don't, but if you do happen to relapse, don't feel like a failure, just pick yourself back up and try again.

I do know for a fact that it you are in a methodone clinic then it is a BIG no no to take benzos of any kind because it is a very possible lethal combination. I've just never known this to be true with suboxone.

Why don't you wait and see? Xanax may help with your anxiety, but it is also very highly addictive and why start if you don't have too. Take one day at a time and remember - what your brain tells you - is not necessarily what you or you body needs. Tough it out and it will pass. Find support from family or friends if you can.

1st Time, NO NO NO, DO NOT TAKE XANAX!!!!!!!! I wish you the Best with Suboxone. I and my brother started the end of october 2008. My brother relapsed twice, he was on Hydro 10mg/30daily/3yrs I was on 10-12daily/15yrs. Im not sure about his dosing but I started at 16mgdaily/2weeks...now 8 months later I am 2mg daily. I actually have started trying to take it everyother day. I want OFF...I hate the taste and just the mention/thought of the medicine I get nauseous. I too was fearful of the anxiety, it was difficult, for about 6weeks I did not feel stable enough to drive and I could not stand crowds or loud noises. became super depressed, I take Prestique 50mg daily and Seroquil 50mg nightly this has helped the anxiety and depression and helps me SLEEP!!! I suffer with Sarcoidosis and I am Always in PAIN....I take toridol which really helps..not as good as hydro but I can function. The Doc put me on an anticonvulsive to help wing me from Xanax .5mg for 15yrs. Find NEW activities you enjoy and Change old habits...drink plenty of water and go Caffiene FREE..Columbian Decaf from Walmart is Great. I do have a glass of tea daily followed by a Lots of WATER...God Bless, you will do well!!!
