I have just started taking this drug and understand that it is to help me sleep and help with chronic pain. However, I cannot sleep well with this, even though I feel drugged for at least 15 hours after a very low dose - 10 mg. It is also supposed to help with depression, but I feel more depressed. Can anyone shed light on this for me? Hi, I was on amitriptyline 20 mg before sleep time and venlafaxine 150 mg in the morning. Because of side effects my doctor prescribed me nortriptyline 25 mg in the evening and 25 mg in the morning. I was sleeping better when I was on amitriptyline. Would it be a good idea to take amitriptyline before sleep time and nortriptyline early in the morning. Most of these medications can cause sleep disruptions, but it usually improves after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your bodies adjust to the drug. Hi, I have been on Nortriptyline for a just over a year at 25 mg in the morning and 25 mg at night to help with my fibromyalgia/chronic pain condition, as some of the symptoms of my fibro were starting to return, e.g. extreme light sensitivity rendering me unable to open my eyes. The doctor has increased my dose to 25 mg in the morning and 50 mg at night, that was three days ago. Since then I have started itching all over. The itching moves around my body and is intense. All i am doing is scratching, I am also quite irritable. I am a 45 yr old woman who suffers from reflex sympathetic dystrophy and was prescribed nortriptylin cap 25 mg at bedtime and gabapentin tab 600 mg 3 times per day. I have had the following sypmtoms: unable to sleep at night but lathargic during the day, sweats, chills, cold like symptoms (runny nose, coughing, sneezing, phlegm in throat), headache, diaheria. I feel like I have the flu. I stopped taking my meds and some symptoms went away but the doctor asked me to get back on the meds and the symptoms came back....could it be coincidental that I am coming down with a cold or are these side effects from my meds? round, red, small, coated pill with the number 251 on one side, other side is blank ## This tablet contains 30mgs of Pseudoephedrine, a generic for Sudafed. This is a decongestant. ## I did a search on iPhone program and it said this is Nortriptyline, 35 mg. ## Thank you for all the help but we have neither of those meds in our house. I am wondering if it is something called Uricalm, which is a pill for bladder and urinary tract pain, and it is more a reddish orange than true red. It is a bit new on the market and sold at Walmart, also they are changing to a different dosage so maybe this pill wasn't around long enough to be identified. I was given 25 mg. of Nortriptyline for mild depression; I had trouble sleeping, and was extremely groggy all day; I could hardly move and when I did, every muscle seemed to ache. It was scary! I thought I had some dreaded disease. one other time I was prescribed the drug citalopram for depression and it sent me into a panic attack. So I'm guessing some of these drugs have the opposite effect on my body. Has anyone else had this problem? I really prefer not to take drugs at all...but there are times when I want some help coping.
