Gabapentin Withdrawals Question

I've been on Gabapentin for two days, taking 100mg twice. Will I have withdrawals if I stop taking it? ## No, there should be any issues after such a short period of time on such a low dose. Why are you stopping it, already? The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fluid retention, mood swings, and weight gain. ## Okay, thank you. :) I could be wrong but it seems as if Gabapentin only made things worse for me. The pain I was having prior to taking it, seemed to get more frequent. Also, my chest pain seemed to last longer than usual. ## I stopped cold turkey and now have been itching for two days like crazy. ## Try a histamine.

Gabapentin and mood swings

Please help me! I feel like I'm losing my mind. My husband is taking gabapentin for a pinched nerve in neck/slash shoulder. He's 100 mile and hour, talks constantly (quiet before) easily angered, manic, can't sit still, cries (not a crier), happy, sad, furious, depressed, upbeat, all can change at any minute and on to the next. He has corrected me, yelled, humiliated me, and all this has happened in two weeks. I'm walking on egg shells, kinda scared at times. I try to talk to him about It and one minute he realizes that he's acting manic then the next it's my fault he's acting this way. ## Yes, Gabapentin can cause those types of side effects in some people that take it, according to FDA reports, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and weight gain. Has hi...

What is amit/gaba/lido cream?

Thought there would be some instructions and side effect information in the bag when I picked up my prescription, but don't have any info. Can you help? ## Hi Dean, The Gaba stands for Gabapentin and the Lido stands for Lidocaine. I'm not entirely certain of the other abbreviation, but do have my suspicions that it stands for Amitriptyline. Both Amitriptyline and Gabapentin are known for coming in pill form and I have also heard of Gabapentin being mixed in these types of creams by compounding pharmacies. However, I have not been able to verify the same when it comes to Amitriptyline. I just don't see any other medication name with this prefix. Aside from the prefix, the other thing that leads me to believe that Amit stands for Amitriptyline is that NIH lists it as being mar...

Is this normal and how long will it take to be lucid and energetic again? ## How long were you taking it, and how much were you taking each day? Did you taper off of it, or just stop it cold turkey? gabapentin dot physical

I am trying to find out if gabapentin is ok to be in the system (body) of a truck driver. Legal presciption from a doctor. ## Can a truck driver pass a DOT physical if he takes gabapentin? ## Hello, Jeanie! How are you? I'm sorry, but from what I've found the answer is no. There is an automatic disqualification for anyone taking any type of antiseizure medication. This is due to the fact that the person either has epilepsy, or if they are taking it for nerve pain or mood disorders, the medication could put them at risk of a seizure, if they miss a dose or are late taking it. Having a seizure while driving could be very dangerous. The FDA lists the typical side effects to this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight changes. The NIH states the some antidepressants can help, such as Cymbalta or Savella. Have you tr...

I'm curious as to how much alcohol can be tolerated and if there are any reasons to avoid it completely. I like my Budweiser.
