Gabapentin by Aurobindo
2 Replies RSS Share
Hi, I am asking about the Gabapentin that I have been prescribed, made by Aurobindo. The medicine is in a capsule and I need to know if the capsule (casing) is either made with pork, beef or vegetables. Since I am Jewish it's important to me. Thank you. ## What are the markings on it? Sometimes the manufacturer listed is just an authorized distributor, so I cannot provide you with accurate information, until you post back with more details. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. Can you please post back and clarify? ## the # on the capsule is. (D02)

Can side effects of gabapentin be similar to dementia?
5 Replies RSS Share
I have been taking gabapentin and lamictal for bipolar for about 2 years. I am very sensitive to medications so my doses have had to be cut back a few times. I do not take what a "normal" dose would be as I do not tolerate it well. I am having trouble with my memory. I am concerned about my medication doing this. I have sometimes forgotten names or what I did the past few days or a week ago. I get confused over things that should not confuse me. I have lost interest in doing my hobbies. Please let me know if it is possible side effect? ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? The FDA classifies both of these medications as anticonvulsants that can also be used to help with some mood disorders and virtually all such medications are known to cause similar issues. They also tend to worsen the...

can gabapentin cause legs to feel heavy when walking?
7 Replies RSS Share
Have spinal stenosis. Also diabetes. Some neuropathy. Had 2 epidurals and physical therapy which helped decrease pain in legs to a bearable level. Had 3 acupuncture treatments. Thought helped after 1st one but after 2nd and 3rd legs hurt more so I didn't go back. Doctor put me on Gabapentin which helps the neuropathy. One day legs started feeling like they weigh 50 pounds each which has affected my balance tremendously. So now I am wondering if possibly caused by Gabapentin. Anyone else on it with heavy legs? ## I take 2700 mg a day of Gabapentin. I'm 71. I also have cervical spinal stenosis, diabetes 2 and lots of arthritis. Also take 300 mg of tramadol a day and a number of other drugs for psychiatric reasons as well as drugs for blood pressure and cholesterol. I even drink a ...

is gabapentin 100 mg used to relieve itching due kidney disease
2 Replies RSS Share
I have had a kidney problem for the past year. My creatine level is going up from 1.2 to 2.4. Despite whatever medicine I use, the level is not coming down. Also, I am experiencing itching all over my body, especially on my legs. Someone suggested me to go for 100 mg gabapentn. After only one capsule the Itching has gone away but I feel very exhausted and tired. Please suggest me some medicine to lower my creatine level and to reduce the itching. ## Gabapentin makes lots of people itch head to toe! I was so crazy with itching I could not bear it. Gabapentin is making you itch. (I am not a doctor, just a patient). As soon as you stop the itching will go away. Well it actually takes a period of time similar to your taking it, but it will lessen right away from my own experience. For examp...

how long do withdrawal side effects of gabapentin last
20 Replies RSS Share
I stopped taking a 300 mg twice a day dose of gabapentin last tues. I feel awful depressed sweaty moody irritated emotional very dizzy. How long will I keep feelin this way? My doc had me stop it right away, because I was suppose to go on lyrica. Which honestly I don't want to start taking pain or no pain. I started slurring my words on the gabapentin then felt like wherever I was, I was inside a bubble it was a terrible feeling ## If you have been on it for such a short period of time, they shouldn't last more than a few days, perhaps a week at most. but it can vary from person to person, so I can only give an average from other anecdotal reports. Lyrica is in the same class, so it may or may not cause the same type of problem for you, there's really no way to know without ...

how long does it take gabapentin to get out of your system
121 Replies RSS Share
I was taking 300 mg neurontin. 1 in am, 1 at noon and 2 at bedtime. I was prescribed the med in May of 2013. Increased later when not helping with foot numbness. It has been almost 2 weeks since i tapered myself off of the drug and i still feel nausea in the am which affects my eating. Please advise how long it will take this med to be out of my system? Thank you. ## Hi Cindy, Sorry to hear about the nausea you've been experiencing lately. From what I've been researching, in most cases it usually ends up being around 2 to 5 days for this type of medication to clear your system. However because you've been taking it for about a year, I'd imagine your body could still probably use some time to get accustomed to not having it on a regular basis. One study I found mentioned ...

Expired Gabapentin 300 mg
3 Replies RSS Share
I found a bottle of my Gabapentin dated 3/8/2011. Should I throw them away or can i take them cause i no longer have insurance? ## This medication does not become dangerous, once expired, but it can lose efficacy, so it may not work as well as it did, when it was new. Thus it would be best to dispose of it and see a doctor for a new prescription. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have a box of gabapentin in its sealed package (18 months old). Are they still good to use for my dog? ## Hi. I was just wondering, I have 300mg gabapentin that expired on 12/2017. Are they still safe to take?

Is there a big difference between the 100 mg and 300 mg pills? I’m currently taking 2 100 mg pills 3 xs a day (600 mg total) for a forearm injury but don’t know hos much a difference it makes between these 2 pills. If you have started at the same dose please respond if taking a stronger pill than what I am doing. ## Other than the notable difference in milligrams (potency), each pill is also going to come with a different set of inactive ingredients, otherwise known as binders and fillers. To my understanding, these seemingly inert substances can actually affect bioavailability and even cause some concern for individuals who may be hypersensitive to certain chemicals. Now I'm not saying that your experience will be anything like this, but I do feel that binders and fille...

Will gabapentin work for a severe toothache? I have gabapentin and it says it's for nerve pain but it doesn't list tooth pain. I know I have an exposed nerve. The pain is excruciating. Please help. ## Take Ibuprofen 800 mg every 4 hours non stop for 24 hours.. it will eventually stop the pain from being as bad also gel caps are better ## I have been taking Gabapentin 300mg for a while and decided to stop because of the side effects. I was having difficulties with breathing and sleeping. My blood pressure has also been higher than normal. I guess that everyone is different and it affects everyone differently. My wife also takes 300mg, two tablets 3x daily and she's been having great results. Like I said, everything affects everyone differently and as long as you pay attention...

How Long Does Gabapentin Stay In Your System
96 Replies RSS Share
how long does gabapentin 900mg stay in your system? ## Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and mood disorders and, as such, it is not a substance that is tested for on standard drug tests. However, the half-life for your body to process it out is from 5 to 7 hours and total elimination time is usually 5 to 6 half-lives, so you'd be looking at 30 to 42 hours for it to be processed out of your body entirely. Learn more Gabapentin details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have a drug test this afternoon n i took a 300mg gabapentin last night...will i pass a urine test today... ## I know it's late but gabapentin is not a controlled substance. ## I have been taking gabapenton for about three months. what is the difference between gabapentin rx and otc gaba
12 Replies RSS Share
I want to know the difference between GABAPENTIN a RX and OTC GABA? ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? There are two completely different substances. The FDA classifies Gabapentin as an anticonvulsant that can also help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. It requires a doctor's prescription and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. A sudden withdrawal may also create the risk of seizures. The Gaba that you see available over the counter, however, is just a nutritional supplement. The full name for it is actually Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid. It is just an amino acid. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I think I have convinced myself that it helps me to a nice calmness in the evening! My husband takes RX for $$...

gabapentin side effects rapid pulse from 85 to 105 at rest. Usually 60-70 at rest. ## And how are you feeling right now ? Did you notice these effects every time you took the Gabapentin ? Rapid heart beat is not specifically listed as a side effect of this medication, however there are other side effects which may be related ... such as dizziness, tremor, nausea, blurred vision. Have you had any of these? Medications which have a neurological effect on the body can certainly come with their own complications. What causes my neuropathy?

Hi. I have been suffering from chronic pain for over 4 years. It all started with right knee pain and weakness. I was diagnosed with a bakers cyst and went to PT. About a year later I had more pain on the right side running from my back down to the right foot. My back pinches, ankle constantly burns, my knee is still weak with shooting pains with overuse, my foot now has begun to swell on the bottom and hurts to walk, my hip and butt muscle are always tender to the touch, and overall my right leg hurts to walk and move and burns when I sit to relax. I was told I have some start of spinal stenosis, but not enough yet to cause my symptoms. I also tested with some nerve damage from my knee to my ankle. What could be causing this and what can I do? I also had an MRI of my brain that showed ...

Is GABAPENTIN safe/good/bad with MORPHINE?
27 Replies RSS Share
Hello. I have multiple pain issues due to generalized OA, neuralgia, bilateral sciatica, trigger thumbs, carpal tunnel, protruding discs, trapped nerves, compression of spinal cord at L4/5, tendenosis, fibromyalgia and chronically inflammed tendon/nerve sheaths. I'm 52, female and in quite a bit of pain and take a few meds that include 600mg GABAPENTIN 3xdaily, which I love and can't do without. I also take dihydra., and naproxin. I've asked my GP for something more/stronger and I want to get MORPHINE at the starter dose of 30mg slow release, to see how I get on with it. My question I'd like to know from users of gabapentin with morphine is how have you got on with them + is the combo safe/good/bad in your experience? This medication has been known to cause edema as a side effect, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and mood changes.
