I was taking Glycomet SR 1 gm 1 tab daily with result that my blood sugar remained - fasting 80-90 and PP 130-140. But for last few months I am taking 2 tab per day and the blood sugar is not comming down from 115 fasting and PP 145-150. I am now taking GLIZID 80 mg two tabs twice a day and Glycoment 850mg one tab twice a day plus Acarbose 50 mg twice a day. Now doctor advises me to take Glycomet 1gm in place of Glycomet 850gm . I find that Gycomet 1mg is in the XR form. How much metformin does Glycomet 1gm contain? What is the benefit of switching over to Gycomet 1gm (Extended Release)? Would it help more than Metformin 850gm (Regular)? Moreover, no metformin tablet 1gm without being in SR/XR form is vailable in the market. Last month I was diagnised as sugar patient with 240/370 level (F/PP) but with the change in lifestyl i stopped taking sugar and started morning walk also. My present sugar level is 105/150. I am taking Glycomet 1000mg -sustained release twice a day. But I find many a times that the whole tablet coming out in the stool. What is the reason? Does it mean that the system has not absobed the medicine? What is the way out? ## I am aged 63 and suffering from type 2 diabetes. The blood sugar level used to be erratic,at times shooting up to 300PP. I was advised Glycomet 500mg twice a day + Glycomet SR 500mg twice a day. But Glycomet SR was not getting absorbed in the system and I was observing the tablet coming out intact in the stools next morning. My Pharmacist on hearing that changed it to Gluconorm G 500 mg.
