when taking medication & the directions are 1 tablet 3 times a day, how many hour's are between each tablet ## Hi Katt, When the directions state "1 tablet, 3 times daily", I think most people base the "3 times daily" off of a 24 hour period, where as you can simply divide 24 by 3 times and have "1 tablet, every 8 hours". Some people might not wait 8 hours and may just take it 3 times spread out during the day and not have any at night. I personally would go with the "every 8 hours" deal, because I find it easier to track. I hope this helps to answer your question! :) ## David you must be a machine being up for 24hrs, when do you sleep? For 1 pill every 8 hours you times 8 by 2=16. 1 pill at 0hrs, next at 8hrs then final at 16hrs. Most people are ...

Just finished 500mg amoxicyillin for tooth infection. It's still here, but now also have a UTI. Prescribed macrobid 100mg. I'm now concerned that I have a major infection brewing. Will this help? ## Help, Mich! How are you? It is most commonly used to treat UTIs. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. There's a chance that some bacteria just traveled through your digestive tract from your mouth to your bladder, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a major infection. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for the prompt reply! Yes, I think some of the bacteria did travel. I guess what concerned me is that I got the UTI while already taking an antibiotic. I just hope that the macrobid will do the job for all of ...

Yes, it is safe to use in dogs and is prescribed to them for UTIs, as well. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it's safe for your pup. If they have any type of problem with kidney function, or a kidney disease, they can't take it. Thus, it would be best to consult with your vet, first, to be safe. The FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Around Oakland or Macomb Countys. WTF? ## Hello, Bob! How are you? Unfortunately, we are now into the time of year when shortages of controlled substances usually occur due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer reaches their yearly allotted limit, they cannot manufacture new product, until after the new year. Each year, demand inevitable exceeds supply and shortages occur. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The best suggestion I can make is to ask your pharmacist what they do have in stock and then speak with your doctor about them prescribing that, in the meantime. Does anyone else have any ideas of suggestions? ## I'm looking for No...

I am finishing eight days of nitrofuran 100 mgm twice daily for a UTI. Experiencing some bladder irritation and frequency. Could this be from the drug retained in the urine? Thanks! ## Hello, Tom! How are you? No, it shouldn't cause those types of symptoms, but it may not have been the proper medication to eradicate the infection you had. Just because it treats most such infections doesn't mean it will always treat all of them. The general rule with antibiotics is that if the are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours and then you should start to see improvement within 3 days. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? You may need to try a different antibiotic.

As to its use during pregnancy, while no studies have been done, many women have used it safely, with no reported ill effects. The time span that it actually shouldn't be used is when you are very close to delivery, around the 38th week, because it can interfere with the immature enzyme systems in the red blood cells of a newborn and cause anemia. If you are worried, then yes, by all means conta...
