Running Out Of Meds Early

My Dr appointments are every 28 to 30 days. I have been running out of my meds on the 23rd or 24th day. My Dr said he wouldn't fill it early again. If I go on the 25th day is that considered early? ## What are the details on the prescription? If your doctor has prescribed them to be taken on an as needed basis, they may be expecting the amount prescribed to last a full 30 days. But if they are prescribed to be taken on a regular basis, that may change things. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

I am trying to find a pain doc in Central, NJ. I am taking 40mg of oxycontin three x a day and 15mg oxycodone 4 x a day for breakthrough pain and my doc dropped me for running out early after hurricane sandy bc my meds ended up floating in the shark river inlet so i got methadone so i wouoldnt be sick from the er doc. They said this was a violation so they gave me one last script and said get out. \ Anyone got a doc that would help me with my current dose? Not some addict have legit problems! My husband went to the doctor on the 26th of nov. and got his refill for hydrocodone. being that Oct. has 31 days in that month, what date by law is the first earliest day he can refill them. This is falling on Thanksgiving and he can not be driving or riding in a car without his meds. ## It depends on what date in Oct he had the last rx filled. It also depends on what pharmacy you use and your insurance company. Usually, if he has not tried to get another rx filled early in recent months, he should be able to get it filled within one of two days of him running out.
