Hydrocodone (Dihydrocodeinone) is an opioid used to treat pain and as a cough suppressant.[9] It is taken by mouth.[9] Typically it is dispensed as the combination acetaminophen/hydrocodone or ibuprofen/hydrocodone for pain severe enough to require an opioid[10][11] and in combination with homatropine methylbromide to relieve cough.[9] It is also available by itself in a long-acting form under the brand name Zohyd...

My best friend is trying to go to a weaker medicine but we're not as educated as we wish we were. Which one is stronger, xtampza er or zohydro 40 mg? ## The Xtampza ER is stronger, it contains Oxycodone, 6.7mgs of it is equivalent to 10mgs of the Hydrocodone in the Zohydro. The FDA warns that both medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. What medication(s) is he currently taking?

Is Hysingla ER as bad as Zohydro ER? ## Hello, Wondering! How are you? What problems did you have with Zohydro? This is basically the same thing, it also contains Hydrocodone as the active ingredient, in an extended release formulation. It's just manufactured by a different company and the time released mechanism is different. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## To the initial poster. If you are reacting to Zohydro's initial lack of any type of anti-abuse deterrent, Hysingla ER has such deterrents in place. While there is a lot of controversy surrounding these new extended release hydrocodone based medications...

How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. What are the markings on the new one? With this additional information, I can research it for you to see if I can discover what's going on. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## PM started me on 7/10 from 4 Norc...

Has anyone taken 10 mg hydrocodone tabs 1to 3 tabs at once to help with your pain. I want to know what I can expect in the strength of 10 mg er once taken . Is it the same as 1 hydro or much stronger ? I have some breathing issues taking 10 mg OxyContin but not with 15 -30 mg. IR 30 mg oxycodone. ## The FDA considers oxy and hydro to be morphine equivalents, but some feel oxy is stronger. Zohydro is a 12hr er med. Depending on how often you were taking oxy, to replace a 10mg er dose your doc would probably start you at 15mg or 20mg Zo and adjust from there. A problem with taking three ir norco doses at once is that each dose usually has 325mg of acetaminophen. While many docs feel that up to three grams of acetaminophen a day not a problem, it serves to analgesic purpose for real pain a...

Anybody who has knowledge pl3ase chime in....no lectures please. Currently taking 4-60mg morphine er a day plus 8-10mg oxy a day. My questions are this. Doc wants to change me to zohydro. Vicodin has NEVER worked in past is zohydro gonna help? What is equivalent to 4-60mg morphs a day??? Lastly what is avg per tab cost??? ## Hello, Mike! How are you? To be honest, it is doubtful that the Zohydro will help you, if Vicodin didn't. Zohydro is just Hydrocodone without the Acetaminophen. It is also converts 1 for 1 with Morphine, so you'd need 60mgs of it for each 60mgs of Morphine that you were taking to be therapeutically equivalent. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as n...

What is the difference between Hyslinga ER and Hydrocodone? ## Hyslinga ER is Extended Release Hydrocodone. The way it is made, it can't be abused as easily as Zohydro, which is also Extended Release. It also contains no Tylenol. But, it is very expensive because it was just approved and many insurance companies won't cover it. ## BL is correct. As far as effectiveness, I am being forced by my physician to find out. He posted a small sign in his office that states, "Due to DEA/Narcotic regulations, ALL patients currently taking Norco 7.5/325 or 5/325 and Percocet 7.5/325 or 5/325 will now be prescribed Hysingla ER, or will have to go to pain management." I have had 4 back surgeries, and have been on hydrocodone 7.5 for 10 years! Since when is the DEA my physician? I have...

I was recently told of a new medication from my physician that would help with my chronic back pain.this medicine is supposed to be eqivalent to four hydrocodones.please inform me of the name of this medication so i can research it.thank u ## It sounds like Zohydro. It came out last year. It is hydrocodone extended release with no tylenol. You take one tablet every 12 hrs. ## @Edge, According to the Oxford Journal of Analytical Toxicology, Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) is reported to be approximately 4 to 6 times more potent than Hydrocodone. So this sounds like it may be one suspect as well. However, I suppose if you were to take a high enough dose of Zohydro ER relative to whatever dose of Hydrocodone/APAP you're comparing it to, then you could easily end up taking 4x (or more) than th...

In the past I have always gotten more pain relief from hydrocodone, but due to my chronic pain and Tylenol in it IM often number up to a stronger medicine, I just got my Medicare and will receive pain management again, are there any versions without Tylenol I could take covered by part d? ## Zohydro ER went on the market this year. It is the first and only extended release hydrocodone on the market. It also does not contain tylenol or any other medication. Because it is new, it is very expensive. It also is a Schedule II. Which means it can't be called in, no refills and you must see your dr at least every 90 days. It does require Prior Authorization for Medicare to pay for it.

Oxycodone is yesterday's news, get over it!!!! You all need to stop crying, and face fact's, Roxyies are gone!!! Don't dispare, Zohydro Er just got approved by, Money,Lobbyist, and the DEA. Packs 10 time the punch of Roxies!! My neurologist of 12 year's said I'll have my Rx's for Zohydro next month, and yes, there water soluble. I'm missing 4 disc's in my lower back, and can't get them replaced because of the FDA., won't allow more than one disc's installed in USA., and Busted Cross & Broken Shield of FL. won't pay for having them installed in Europe so I'm must save my pennies up since it will cost me $250,000 to have done in Europe! Which I will do! Google Zohydro, if you think I'm kidding, Best of luck trying to keep getting...

hydrocodone 10 mg I was wondering if I can get a hydrocodone p prescription pill 10 mg without the acetaminophen or any other medications in it ## There is a new Hydrocodone only extended release medication, Zohydro ER. It comes in several mgs and 10 mg is one of the,. But, it is expended release and you only take 1 every 12 hrs. It is new and very expensive. Some insurance companies won't cover it due to the cost. ## The information BL provided is correct, Zohydro is a time released formulation of Hydrocodone by itself, with no other active ingredients. The FDA warns that Hydrocodone carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Ref: Zohydro Information Is there anything I can help with?

I want to know what I am taking before I take it. I have had 3 back surgeries and was only looking for a little relief. I was told this was the new hydo without the Tylenol in it. I think I have been scammed. Oh well, I have a Dr, Appt next week.. But what the heck is that pill!!!! ## L467, round and orange comes up as chewable aspirin. Zohydro ER is a capsule and has Zogenix and a number indicating the mg of the capsule imprinted on it. ## What BL posted is correct. To add further specifics, it is manufactured by Perrigo and they list it as containing 81mgs of Aspirin and it's orange flavored. The FDA classifies this medication as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, head...

Due to present eligibility to medicare, finding a drug plan to cover oxycontin is a real problem. The amount does not appear to be the problem but the brand\type is. Any idea what I could switch to ? Currently take four 60mg per day along with oxy IR 20mg for those sudden pain spikes. ## There is no generic for Oxycontin, which could be why they don't want to cover it. However, there are other options that are available as generics, such as MS Contin, Opana ER, Zohydro, and Fentanyl. The FDA warns that all of these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Those are just a couple of the options you could ask your doctor about trying. Does anyone else have any suggestions to add?
