eyedrops prescribed for eye injury. ## Drug Information for Tetracaine This medication is used in the eye as an anesthetic to numb the pain that may occur during eye procedures. To apply eye drops, wash hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drops. Look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure. This will prevent the medication from draining away from the eye. Try not to blink initially and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. Replace cap after use. If you are u...

I am currently using a cream prescribed by my foot doctor, Ketamine10% Flurbiprofen10% Baclofen4% Verapamil7% Tetracaine2%. I had to have the lab adjust the formular with my doctors approval, to it current percentage as the original formular was useless. It works a bit better, but I feel it could use some more tweeking. Any suggestions? Also I recently injured my knee and have been using it on that as well. I've read the comments above and plan to discuss some of these options when I see the knee guy in a couple of weeks :( Thank you ## Hello, Jeff! How are you? As a topical cream, this really isn't going to alleviate intense pain. There's only so much it will do, since you don't really absorb much of the medications, at all. And no, I've no suggestions for tweaking,...

Can't find Viractin in store disconnitued or meet a prescription? ## I am sorry, but Viractin has been discontinued by the manufacturer. It contained the active ingredient Tetracaine, which was a topical anesthetic, so it really did nothing to shorten the duration of a cold sore, though the moisturizing effects of it could help keep them from drying out and cracking and bleeding. You may want to try a different over the counter product, such as Abreva, which contains Docosanol, it is an antiviral, which can shorten the duration of a cold sore, since they are caused by a virus. Have you consulted your doctor, to see what they'd advise you to use as an alternative? ## I have been using Viractin for this past week and I am now out. This topical gel is the only product that will let...

TOPICAL NUMBING SOLUTION ## According to NIH.gov, XAP is an alternative to cocaine for topical anesthesia. Source: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8214878 XAP stands for Xylocaine (lidocaine) + Adrenaline + Pontocaine (tetracaine) Another common abbreviation for this combination drug is LAT, which stands for the active ingredients lidocaine, adrenaline and tetracaine. I'm under the impression that XAP refers to the brand name while LAT refers to the generic version. Clinical trials note that "LAT gel (tetracaine-adrenaline-lidocaine) worked as well as TAC (tetracaine-adrenaline-cocaine) gel for topical anesthesia in facial and scalp lacerations." - They also go on to state that LAT gel compared favorably with injectable buffered lidocaine for local anesthesia effectiveness and was s...

I've been looking for pontocain ointment but can't find it any more. Is it still on the market or has it possibly been discontinued? (if it was discontinued or taken off the market, why? It was such a good product.) If no longer available, are there any substitute products. It was a combination tetracaine and menthol. Very soothing after episiotomy. It was topical ... external use only.

Why is Viractin so hard to find? Is it being discontinued and if so, why? I've used it for years in conjunction with Abreva for cold sores and I love it but it keeps getting harder to buy and I don't understand why when it's such a great product! ## Viractin contains the active ingredient Tetracaine, which is a local anesthetic used to numb the area, topically. I'm not finding any specific information, but it appears that the company that makes it might have discontinued it. It's made by Medibrands and they no longer list any information about it on their site and most online sites that listed it for sale say it is currently out of stock. I don't know which one might be available in your area, but many products use a similar ingredient called Benzocaine, so you m...

I have been told I failed a police blood test for a metabolite of cocaine? I'm out my mind with worry as im drug free and have been for 8 years apart from over the counter medication and prescribed Meds. prior to the test I had taken a course of amoxicillin and was also using a gel for severe toothache ingredients "tetracaine" although it says don't use orally. I was putting the gel directly onto my broken back teeth as I was in agony, I don't even drink coffee. I use inca tea as a replacement as I suffer from combat stress syndrome, I've taken a list of many over the counter medications from Chinese herbs to Suddafed sprays. Also im under a surgeon who is treating me for a sinus problem! I'm totally at my wits end. please can you tell me if I could have had ...
