Why don't they prescribe Talacen anymore? It helped with my broken back. ## Hi Dana, I'm not finding any specific details on why it's been discontinued, but my guess is that it's because Talacen contained 650 mgs of Acetaminophen. As of 2014, the FDA passed a law saying that 325 mgs was the new maximum allowed dose to be in these types of medications. A lot of the more popular drugs like Norco and Percocet have lowered their standard dose to meet those requirements. However, if the makers of Talacen didn't want to do this, then that could be a likely reason for them to stop producing more. Has anyone else heard why it was taken off the market?

I took a Talwin NX about 2 to 3 hours ago. Its not working, so I was going to take a Norco. How long should I wait to take it? ## Is the prescription drug Talacen still being manufactured? ## @Shasta (original poster), According to the fda, the average half life of Pentazocine is 3.6 hours and about 1 hour for Nalaxone (the two active ingredients in Talwin Nx). I don't know if the dosing effects of this drug are cumulative, but based on the half life alone it seems to me that you wouldn't have to wait more than a few days depending on how much you took and how frequently you've taken it. Drug interaction checkers from the University of Maryland don't recommend using Talwin Nx with Norco unless your doctor is able to change the dose and/or how often you use either medicat...

I found a green oblong pill with the word WATSON on one side and on the opposite side there is a line down the middle with the numbers 396 on the left side and 25/650 on the right side. It's considered a serious narcotic drug, and (from law enforcement standpoint) the implications of using it illegally is basically the same is if you were taking any other hard drug. As for the imprint 512, if the original post is talking about a White, Round, Scored tablet with the imprint 512, then that is a generic Percocet. a/213 light green ## This is NOT OXYCODONE! This medication contains Pentazocine 25mgs and Acetaminophen 650mgs, a generic for Talacen. This is still a narcotic, but not nearly as strong as Oxycodone.
