Hello. I am a care worker and one of my clients is a mid 50s gentleman with ms. I recently went through all his medication to look for risks, and noticed he's been taking zinc and magnesium with it. We moved the minerals to an other part of the day, so that should be ok, but now it turns out he's on quinine. The same doctor prescribed both. I know quinine can potentiate warfarin, but he's already on both, his gp knows this and the warfarin clinic is aware as well. What would you do? He wants to stopp taking the quinine, but i'm not so sure. He has his INR tested every second week atm. ## If they are monitoring him, then there is likely no need to make any change, as his Warfarin dosage has already been adjusted accordingly and is adjusted as needed. That's really the...

I have quinine about 15 years old. Does quinine get too old? ## Hello, Dymple! How are you? Yes, all medications tend to lose efficacy with time. The elements, such as heat, light and moisture cause them to degrade. Thus, I have to say that after 15 years, yes, you should just dispose of it and obtain a new supply, if you need it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Quinine as possibly including nausea, diarrhea, dizziness and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Im taking tonic water with quinine for cramping in my feet and legs and it helps but I have to empty my bladder all the time and it hard to hold. ## Hi maggie, In my honest opinion the side effect list for Quinine is pretty nerve racking. And although I didn't see a mention of any bladder-related concerns, I do have reason to suspect that one or more other side effects of this drug may be indirectly causing it: nausea restlessness difficulty hearing or ringing in the ears confusion nervousness rash hives itching flushing hoarseness difficulty breathing or swallowing swelling of the face, throat, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles or lower legs fever blisters stomach pain vomiting diarrhea blurriness or changes in color vision inability to hear or see faintness easy bruising purple, bro...

That said, to my knowledge, there are different manufacturers of Quinine containing different sets of binders and fillers. Depending on how your body responds to these differences, you may end up preferring one over the other. __________________________ RE: "Are Quinine sulfate capsules used for Lazy Leg Syndrome?" Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or special monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. Now my question is my baby safe from deformity? ## Alcohol is never a good idea, while pregnant, in any amount, it could cause fetal alcohol syndrome, according to the NIH, so you need to make sure your doctor is aware that you drank something mixed with gin.
