I went to the emergency clinic and determined I have severe UTI. I was prescribed phenazopyridine 200mg and cipro 250mg for a three day treatment. I'm just I tie day two and I am absolutely miserable. Painful and requiring urinantion. I do t know what else to do as I'm exhausted and in severe discomfort... ## Hello, Megan! How are you? The usual antibiotic used for UTIs is Nitrofurantoin, however, it may not have been appropriate for the bacteria they found causing your infection. Have used pyridium (generic) off and on for 22 yrs. for chronic flare ups of Urethral Syndrome. Now can't hardly find it or it has gone up to $1000 for 3 mo supply. The only thing I've been able to find is that there is a shortage due to manufacturing delays, which explains why it's hard to find and so expensive, when you do find it. I need some help/advice/guidance because I'm honestly at a loss as to what is going on with me. At the beginning of the year I had gone to the ER and they said that I had a UTI and prescribed me Cipro and Pyridium to take for a week or so. About a few days into taking the medication I had to stop because it began to make me so sick! Luckily, even with a few left in the bottle, my UTI was cleared when I went for a follow up with my doctor. Unfortunately for me, I have been left with some annoying stomach issues! I'm constantly belching, there are days where I have sever sour stomach (even if I eat a small salad in the middle of the day!) and bouts of nausea. What can I take or do to relieve urinary burning while have a uti? Pyridium not helping this time. Pain pill nor antibiotics are helping. I suffer with frequent uti, but this is first time burning lasted so long. Nothing is helping.
