I am using Femring now and wonder if I could change to Estring if it might cost less? My insurance doesn't cover Femring, I've had breast cancer and told this was the best way for me to get hormone replacement safely. ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. The typical side effects may possibly include dizziness, headache, nausea, mood changes, weight changes, and irregular bleeding. They both really do the same thing, which is preventing pregnancy. Which one have you chosen to try?
1 REPLY Filed under EstringI too have taken estratest in its original formulation for 6 yrs with great results post hysterectomy, in conjunction with a Femring .05. The original medication is no longer available. The generic in half dose or double strength did not work for me, especially in regards to libido. I am now using the Femring in conjunction with a compounded testosterone cream from Koshland in SF at .5 per pump, one pump per day. It has only been a few weeks, but this regime works and I feel as I did using the original estratest. I hope this helps other women who have been affected by this arbitrary pharmaceutical decision with no advance warning to us, other than to pick up your prescription which is no longer the same, be told it's the same, and then have to deal with the agonizing fallout of a ho...

Vaginally administered estrogens are thereby exerting their effects mainly in the nearby tissue, with more limited systemic effects compared to orally administered estrogens.[1] It will not protect a woman against osteoporosis.[2] With perhaps the exception of the Femring,[3] it also will not alleviate the hot flashes and hormonal imbalance caused by menopau...

Why has femring changed color from off white to brown when I removed it after 3 months?
Filed under FemringI've used Femring for hormone replacement for years, but it has become so expensive. It is made in the UK. My insurance pay a very small amount of the cost. Is there another brand that is made in the US that might be less expensive?
