I have unbearable anxiety and cogentin 2mg helps for a few hours but not the whole day. It was prescribed because I take Haldol. It gets me stoned when I take it and I feel guilty but I prefer that to gut-wrenching anxiety. Do the side effects go with time or am I going to feel stoned for as long as I take cogentin? ## Hello, Alex! How are you? Side effects typically go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication, though they may recur, if your dosage is raised at any point. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including blurred vision, constipation, headache and impaired memory. Is there anything else I can help with? ## are you sure the Cogentin makes you stoned? usually the Haldol is a very heavy hitter. they sometimes use BENADRYL instead of Cogentin. i ...

I started sleep walking on serenace/ cogentin so the doctor put me on Zyprexa/alanzapine is this normal I think serenace/cogentin are dangerous. ## It is a rare, but possible side effect of most antipsychotic medications. There are also very serious side effects that can result from using Zyprexa. The most common ones that cause problems for those taking it is severe weight gain, which often results in Type II Diabetes and extreme withdrawal symptoms when they try to stop taking it. There are many horror stories out there from people who have used both of these medications. My husband had severe problems when he was taking Zyprexa and he had only been on it for a short time and it was a nightmare when he stopped taking it. So anyone who takes these types of medications needs to realize,...

My girlfriend has bipolor,OCD, Agoraphobia, and extreme anxiety to where it's actually crippling her. She does see a Dr. who seems like he cares for his clients. He has her on Topamax, risperdal, Cogentin and .5mg of klonopin. Do think if she told her Dr. that the klonopin isn't workig and wanted to switch to 2mg xanax he would consider it. I mean her condition has been documented since she was 11yrs old she is now 28yrs ## Regardless of what I or anyone else thinks, it is ultimately the doctors opinion that matters in this situation. If he is truly as compassionate as he appears to be, then I would think yes, he would consider it, based on what she tells him. It is important to be completely open with your doctor by all means so you can be sure they understand the situation to t...

pink capsule ## I was a hospice nurse years ago when pharmacies had to compound this 5 agent anti-nausea medication. They could make it in a capsule or suppository form. It contained: 10mg each of dexamethasone(Decadron) and motoclopramide(Reglan) 50mg of Dramamine,25 mg diphenhydramine(Benedryl) and 2mg of Cogentin. Originally used as an adjunct to chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting, it became a highly therapeutic choice for hospice patients as well. Hospice contined to use it even after Zofran was introduced because it was a much less expensive alternative. And highly effective! The 5 different drugs each target a different nausea mechanism in the body i.e. brain, stomach etc so the patient could get immediate relief without having to figure out which nausea center was being affe...

My girlfriend has an assortment of emotional problems such as bipolor, ocd, borderline personality disorder and agoraphobia. Basically it has her to where she doesn't want to leave the house because she thinks people are staring and judging her. She goes to the psychitrist once a month for her meds which are resperdal, topamax, cogentin and .5mg of klonopin. She's been taking the klonopin for about 3 months and it only works if she takes 4 of them which is the equivlent to 2mg. She is thinking of asking her dr to switch her to 2mg xanax but is deathly afraid to do it. Her shrink isn't one of those dr's thast will just hand out drugs she convienced herself that he will view her as a drug addict instead of an emotional mess seeking relief. Her condition has been documented si...

1st off let me thank you for taking the time to answer my ?... I am on Geodon an atypical antipsychotic for Bipolar Disorder. I have Gastro Paresis and my stomach doesn't empty the correct way and it causes severe nausea and vomiting. I was on Phenergan for the nausea (I tried Zofran it didn't work) but my Health Insurance stopped paying for Phenergan. So My Doctor put me on Compazine 10mg (its a typical antipsychotic). I took it years ago, and it made me restless and I felt like I had to keep moving my legs. My Doctor knows this but its pretty much my only option. I am already on Cogentin .5mg 2x day b/c the Geodon I'm on make me have tremors. I was wondering if I go up on my Cogentin dose to 2mg 2x a day if that would work. I use to be on that dose before, but my Doctor lo...

He is 23 yr old computer professional. Kindly advice. Thank you ## Hello, Jessy! How is your nephew doing? He should return to his neurologist, treatment for this usually has to be highly individualized, there is no one thing that works for everyone. Is he still taking the Sulpitac? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Cogentin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and blurred vision. He may need a higher dose of it, or to combine with other treatment options. Is there an...

I also was told I had a false positive for opiates.. I am on methadone and take depakote, cogentin, trazodone, and birth control.. been clean for opiates for a long time now..they retested me and said I was dirty again.. I know that's not true..of course I'm the liar tho. I also take zantac and prilosec.. could it be my meds showing up dirty for opiates. ## Zantac can cause false positives. Demand a gas chronograph test. This will differentiate what caused the false positive. Do they know you were on zantac or prilosec? If you don't ask, they won't do it, and you may have to pay, but get reimbursed possibly. If you don't, you could even get taken off your methadone, depending on the doctor. Hope this helps- oh and request this before the original sample is destroyed....
