Prepopik Laxative

Has anyone in the US used this yet for colonscopy and what did it cost? ## I've used this Prep and it was wonderful. It tasted like orange soda and was very small. I undergo routine colonoscopies and have now finally found my prep of choice because it taste great and is tiny. Suprep & Moviprep = YUK!!! ## Thanks, Johnny, was that in the US? and what did it cost? I really don't care if it is easy to use. I may need to convince my Gastro in some way. ## I used prepopik yesterday. It tastes like unsweetened lemonade with LOTS of artificial sweetener. Like lemon koolaid without sugar. Texture is good though, not thick or slimey. Mix with refridgerated cold water, not tap water and stir well. Drink with a straw. Brush your teeth and tongue after drinking to get rid of taste. You ...

Prepopik not working, what should i do?

Took this stuff at 6:30 pm and its now 11:06 pm and not much is happening. All the anticipation for this procedure and now it doesn't seem to be working. I'm supposed to take the next dose at 7 a.m., hope something gets it going. Have to report for the colonoscopy at 11:15 a.m.. So far, Im not impressed. Just want to get this over with! ## Hi Jon, hope that everything went well after your wrote this. Did you end up going after your second dose (or even before)? You're supposed to drink a lot of water with this, did you follow the general recommendation (per medline plus) of drinking five 8- ounce (240 mL) drinks of clear liquid within 5 hours of the dose? Please let me know how it went (no pun intended), and hope that you're feeling fine. ## This is very discouraging! I ...

Prepopik is by far THE BEST BOWEL PREP!!!!!!

Prepopik is by far the best and most tolerable bowel prep for colonoscopy! I have tried 3 others in the past, including the pill form, and this new prep was the best for the following reasons: 1. Split dosing, 5 ozs, 5 hours apart. Least amount to have to get down (10 ozs total) 2. No salty, gritty taste. Not thick, actually tastes just like orange soda, very palatable! The prep is what hindered me in going back for my follow up c'scpe until now. ## I forgot to say ask for a coupon for Prepopik from your doctor. ## For bowel prep this worked wonderfully. Took the split dose method at 8pm and 3am for an early morning procedure. 1st dose chased with 24oz of water and 16 more oz within the hour and I was having bowel movements by 45 minutes. I did have to use Vaseline on my second dose...

preopik and atelenol and lorazapam

would like to know if others have taken their atelenol while during the prepopik prep for a colonoscopy. says online not to take this med in the morning of the procedure and I have to have it. ## There are other ways to procedures to check for colon cancer. I am unable to drink the jug of liquid given. Check with your gastroenterologist. ## Hello, Henry! How are you? If the instructions say not take it that morning, it would be best to follow them. You can always take your dose later, after the procedure. A few hour delay shouldn't really hurt anything. But it is always best to double check with your doctor to be sure. I've had various medical events that required my delaying my blood pressure and heart medications, for a few hours and my cardiologist never worried about it. Jus...

Used Prepopik

I had my first colonoscopy yesterday. Used Prepopik, got as free sample from GI doc. I was freaking out from all reviews on this product. I took this advice and it seemed to work for me: following a low residue diet 3 days prior to procedure&1 day prior only clear liquids. I started really hydrating with pedialyte, propel,& other clear liquids 3 days prior to test. I got a prescription for Zofran to help with nausea. Took 1 of those about an hour before each dosage of prep was due. Make sure you chill water so you've got really cold water to mix the powder in. Drink the prep through a big straw. The first sip wasn't horrible but then I caught sense of that sour-ish fruit aftertaste,& that almost made me choke. I had results about 30 minutes after starting. I noticed ...

Prepopik doesn't work!

My husband began the entire process with Prepopik at 6:00 pm and another dose at 2:00 am before his procedure at 9:30 am. It's now 6:44 am about 12 hours since the first dose and NO ACTION YET! OMG! Now what? Cancel procedure that takes forever to schedule? We will not waste money on a procedure if my husband is not cleaned out! Prepopik is not working! ## Hi Judy, Sorry to hear about your husband's experience with Prepopik... It seems to work well for some individuals and not very promising for others. If you have a spare moment I'd encourage you to browse through the following "Prepopik Discussion Thread" here for advice and opinions from those who've already taken it. I realize your post was from about a month ago, but hopefully some comments in there will hel...

Prepopik vs Miralax prep

I have a new colostomy and must have a colonoscopy that goes to it and my bottom. Other ostomates have said they had a good experience with Miralax as a prep. Has anyone used both Miralax and Prepokik and can you tell me which was easier? Would the result be different for someone with a stoma? Please share your experience and opinions. I am SO nervous. Thank you. ## Hi Annie, While I don't have personal experience with these preps, I did want to see if I could help by linking you to the largest discussion thread taking place here with 267 comments that provide patient feedback on Prepokik. Source: Prepopik Discussion Thread Perhaps posting your inquiry there would attract the type of responses you're looking for... Additionally, if you run a search here on MedsChat for "Mira...

Prepopiik worked Fine.

I used Go Lightly 7 years ago and it worked but it tasted horrible and I had a stomach ache from it. My friend used Prepopik and she related how easy it was. I just returned from my colonoscopy and I was cleaned out fine. I was allowed a very small, protein breakfast of one egg, white toast and plain yogurt. I finished this at 6:15 AM. I drank 32 oz. of fluid thru 11:30 AM and then took the first pack of Prepopik. (followed by 5 -8 oz glasses of additional liquid. It took until 2 pm for it to begin working. At 4:30 I took the second dose(and 3 more 8 oz glasses of liquid) and was done by 8 PM. I was up two times(at night) to use the bathroom after that. My appointment was at 6:30 AM today and all was fine. This prep was much more tolerable and I will utilize it again. I have gluten issues

Pico Salax vs Prepopik

I am to undergo a colonoscopy using the Prepopik packets. Supposedly PicoSalax is the same medicine under a different name out of Canada. Is this absolutely true and would I be preparing the best I can using PicoSalax? Prepopik is available in 12mg doses, PicoSalax in 10mg...any difference? Thanks! the difference in cost is substantial...$117 Preppie vs $48 PicoSalax..not sure of shipping costs ## Hi suegue, From what I could gather, both medications do seem identical. However I haven't actually come across Prepopik being available in 12mg doses. Looking at the manufacturer's product page, Prepopik reportedly contains the following set of active ingredients: Sodium Picosulfate (10 milligrams) + Magnesium Oxide (3.5 grams) + Anhydrous Citric Acid (12 grams). Pico-Salax on the oth...

is there a generic for prepopik

Just wanted to know if anyone knows if there is a generic for prepopik. I got to buy this product with as little expense as I can. ## No, I'm sorry, there is not. The best suggestion I can make is to speak to your doctor about using a cheaper alternative. Is there anything else I can help with? ## It was just approved in the U S last year. You can find it cheap in Canada since it has been available there for years. Different name. ## Canadian version is Pico-Salax. Worked perfectly
