Why can I no longer get the Deconomine SR from my pharmacy? It is still being mfg. What is the problem? ## Judy, I was told today that there was a court case where the company who makes Deconamine can no longer make it because of one of the ingredients involved in the court case. Not sure if this is true or not.. I'm in the same boat. ## It is not a court case, but due to the Pseudoephedrine that it contained, it is one of the primary ingredients used to make Crystal Meth. The repeated abuse of these types of drugs has caused most pharmacies to move these drugs behind the counter, so they can limit how much is s...

Deconamine

The removal of the drug has nothing to do with the drug addicts making illegal drugs from it. The drug was made before 1962 and fell under the FDA grandfather clause so it did not need FDA approval. So the drug was actually an unapproved drug being sold in the US. Recently, the FDA has cracked down on the sale of unapproved drugs and ordered it off the market with a list of hundreds of other drugs. As this drug worked perfectly for me also, I wish the maker would go ahead and submit the NDA and get it back on the market. Some of the companies that had unapproved drugs were taking this route. ## Well, I suppose we should all write to the FDA as well as call them. Let's see, there's those pesky "Representatives". So, can it be ordered from Canada? In the past, it was very ...

since I can no longer get this medication, I would like to know if there is a subsitute that works. ## Is deconamine available anywhere? If not, is there an effective alternative? I was switched to Allegra D over a year ago for allergies and have had 4 sinus infections since, despite sinus surgery. I've now had sinusitis for over a month and my primary care and allergist aren't sure why. See an ENT tomorrow. Boy, would I like to have some deconamine again. I can't believe a bunch of crank freaks have made it impossible for me to get the Rx I need! Can't those idiots in DC get anything right?! ## I have an allergy form of asthma and deconamine was the only drug that allowed me to be around most perfumes, room fresheners, cigarette smoke, candles, etc, without coughing hea...

Why I can't get the only drug to help my problem

It seems the drugie in US are ruling what what kind of drugs can be made here. I take Deconamine and can no longer get it, Because it was used for making meth. HOW crazy is it that we can not get the only drug that helps a medical problem, BECASUE OF SOME DRUGIES USE IT TO MAKE THERE DRUGS. This is crazy. ## Yes, it's because of the Pseudoephedrine in it. However, it has not been completely banned in the US, it has just been moved behind the pharmacy counter, so you must specifically ask for it. If this one has been discontinued, you will need to talk to someone at the pharmacy and tell them you are looking for something with the same ingredients, which are the Pseudoephedrine and Chlorpheniramine. Do you have any other questions? ## I hear you. I am in the exact same boat. I was ta...
