Hey so I have been taking tramadol for about 4 years I have a broken tail bone and 2 slipped disk in my back, Im 7 and a half months pregnant and my obgyn and pain management Dr are both working together to taper Me off this horrible drug because when I found out I was pregnant I stopped taking it and bam I had withdrawals. They have me on a tapering schedule to slowly wean me down off of this but my concerns are will I get my baby taken from me if she has mild with drawls still ? Even though my Dr is aware of my dependency and is prescribing me the tramadol and has me on a schedule ? I'm just very concerned I've tried just quitting it several times cold turkey and the last time I ended up in the hospital. I am very worried about CPS getting involved but my Dr don't seem concerned with that at all as long as I am tapering off like they have me doing. Anyone have any experience with this ? If u don't know please don't comment because my nerves are tore up enough I don't need to worry anymore then u already am but would like to know someone who's been through this.

Hello, Caitlyn! How are you?

You should be fine, generally CPS only gets involved if someone was abusing drugs and/or taking them illicitly. Especially with your doctors aware and helping you.

The FDA classifies Tramadol as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Can anyone that's been through this chime in?

Has anyone been on tramadol throughout pregnancy and taper down then quit 2-3 weeks prior to delivering and still had your baby suffer withdrawal? (This was done under doctors care). Any experience is greatly appreciated!
