Has anybody heard of M 30 oxycodone being reformulated? My mother has been on oxycodone for quite a while now and recently had an rx filled and had a few M's that almost instantly swell up and turn into mush when she takes them. They are the same diameter as the other M's but alot thicker and from what she says, they aren't as effective as the thinner M's. Any info would help, thanks.

Hello, JOTO! How is your mother doing?

No, I've not heard of such a thing.

Were they identical in color, too?

Were there any other noticeable differences?

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

The only noticable difference was the clarity of the imprint, some were very clear, others looked as if the area around the imprint began to flake away. There color from tablet to tablet in general is dead on with an occasional speckle almost like you would see in a robins egg.

The Mallinkrodt Oxycodone 30 mg changed to a slightly thicker pill. Same diameter and imprint. It does not give euphoria like the initial pill does. Seems to not be as effective due to reduced absorption maybe. Is it possible that they reformulated the 30 mg pill as well? I heard that the medication has a waxy compound now that makes it difficult to dissolve and abuse the medication. I did try to dissolve a piece in water and it did not dissolve like the pills last year did. Just did this for evaluation purposes only!

Are these made by Mallinkrodt? Have been taking Oxycodone 30 mg for months. They were doing what they are supposed to do, which is help relieve pain. The last ones were Actavis then switched to the Mallinkrodt brand. They are real thick and give me headaches and plain don't work!! Use to take hydrocodone until those switched to Mallink. too. That was a nightmare going through that. SO WRONG because we can't take them back.
