Non-healing Ulcer Treatment Modalities
UpdatedThis is with reference to my dad who is a senior citizen aged 82 years. For almost 4 years he has been suffering from a non healing ulcer. He is a Parkinson patient and is practically taking pain killer medicines every day. Sometimes the pain is so severe that voveran injections needs to be taken. He is non diabetic patient. He has developed ulcer is right leg, which is almost half is leg. There is continuous oozing of water from the wound and the dressing needs to be changed every day twice.
The problem started in year 2010 and he has been hospitalized at least 5-6 times with same problem. The color of his legs is discolored and black as you see from the picture. The problem started in the year 2010 where his legs skin started peeling and became sensitive. It started with boil appearing on his leg which went on to becoming a wound. we have tried with vac therapy. Twice the debarment of the leg is done but it has not helped him. He is complaining of excessive pain and his feet is getting stuck like a gum. He is Parkinson patient. He has to take pain killers everyday like voverna or enzoflam, lorsaid, ultracet, etosin etc to give him releif. His bioposy report and culture evaluation was done very recently in october 2014. we have tried with baitain ag dressing, aqacel, cutimed sorbact. Onitment megaheal also was applied to the wound. Now we are dressing his wound with biatain non adhesive n biatain alginate which has helped to ooze out excessive water from the wound.
So far we have consulted all renowned doctors who are diabetic foot surgeons and specialists in this filed. It has not helped to heal the ulcer. I have spent a lot of money in the procedure. Every time we consult a doctor a different terminology for the disease is given, like vasuclities, cellutlities and recently it is diagnosed as venous ulcer. A vascular surgeon has also been consulted in the past... He is unable to do his basic activities like going to the bathroom, bathing etc. Which is why we have a 24hr caretaker employed to take of everyday basic chores.
We have tried different therapy as recommended by doctors like vac therapy, GFC therapy from kaisak, with which I was assured 100% result, but there is no relief at all. Over and above the hospitalization I am bearing this additional cost. Before going ahead with this therapy. The intention of writing this letter is to invite medical experts to take up our case and relieve him from this chronic aliment and suggest appropriate solutions.
