Methadone Pricing

Has federal funding for methadone decreased since the "opiodemic"? I started taking opiates in 1992 because of extreme pain in my hip which I had suffered with since 1979. The medical profession gave me NSAID's and a small script for Tylenol-3. I have since had 2 hip replacements. I am 59 yrs old. I was on and off methadone for years and have been on it steady for 10 years and stayed clean. During this time I have gone from paying $0 to what will start next month at $360.00/mo.

Manufacturers are free to set their own prices in the U.S. according to supply and demand. Thus, it really has nothing to do with federal regulations, but more to do with market competition and capitalism.

The FDA warns that Methadone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

I know this isn't really helpful, I am just letting you know how the U.S. pharmaceutical industry works, at this time.

No. I had Medicaid which paid about half but in Utah you can only be on Medicaid for two years. I tried the marketplace and none if the insurances will cover methadone
