Kansas City Mo Pain Medication Prescribers (Page 2)

Updated

I am uninsured and have a referral to a pain management clinic, but cannot afford the clinic. I would like to know of any cheap doctors who would prescribe the narcotic pain medication I need to be on in the Kansas City MO area.

AND HONESTLY THERE should be more clinics LIKE them!!!!! Then it would NOT BE so difficult to get the help that is needed, since they do MANAGE YOU... And if your medical issues are true than, they will write for you....

And you don't need a referral for them but YOU MUST HAVE RECORDS OR AND MRI/CT ...that is a must!!! AND they do verify that information as well...

Does anybody still post here ? In kc and just had a fall out w pain Dr. I tried telling them that tens weren't strong enough, I have the curse of a naturally high tolerance to opiod meds. They allowed me four months , long enough to have severe withdrawal if stopped. I would make it three weeks and withdrawal for one week until I got monthly script. Well the pain was too much and gone in two weeks, I broke my contract because I self medicated and now they tossed me to the wind. They are supposed to give a referral but by snail mail. Wish me luck and might I add we should all get together and make a lobby group to get laws on our side and hold there feet to the fire so to speak.

I still check n once in awhile... And I agree that there should be a support group for the laws and regulations

I am so did heartened. I was med free after three yrs of pain management from three open abdominal surgeries. Something is going on with my incision wound or that area and am in extreme pain. I've been sliced and diced and now gave to live with this. I am panic stricken now facing full withdrawal on top of the pain. Need to work to live and they make it impossible. I'm not a criminal nor drug seeking fool. I'm honest and hardworking with family to support. My tolerance scares most drs. But they could expedite the referral process if they wanted to. If you haven't been in our shoes there is no way to understand the ups and downs, the ins and outs. Its cruel how we are treated just by needing these meds. And when they don't listen it makes it worse. {edited for privacy}. Willing to listen learn and teach. Trying to connect with an old PCP that knows me to get a bridge and referral. But navigating this in my shape is just down right unbearable.

If you self medicated don't expect to find a Dr that will treat you'd pain. There are no laws that say if a patient self medicated that a Dr can't prescribe pain meds. But patients that are prescribed pain meds need to be responsible.

Let me be clear on the self med part. I was being given a small dosage of w medicine that worked but in twice the dose. I consistently told them that I had to take two instead of one for them to work. That I was not making it through the month. The pain is too much not to have taken two. They ignored my complaint but the pain persists. It got so bad that finally Rx lasted two weeks instead of four. When you are in the amount of pain I was and am in you do what you can. I did what I continually told them I needed to do which was take two instead of one which made my Rx go quickly. That was my crime. I was honest about it and now I am paying the price.

You should have changed drs if they wouldn't listen. Now you may end up with nothing for pain

We all have pain or wouldn't be here....but when you are lucky enough to get a Dr that will give you what you need or narcotic medicine, anymore YOU ARE lucky, there is so much stigma around the abuse, that there is no room for patients error...... just keep it in mind when you get a new one, and I did post a Dr below

Who is the doctor that is helping you?

Hi, Your State signed on with the new Affordable Care Act. From what I've recently been told it is paying for Rx medications. It will not pay for stem cell therapy, acupuncture, chiropractors, etc. but will pay for actual MD's and Rx's. It's now against the law for you to not have insurance so they are supposed to pay it for you if you don't have the money for it and are unable to work. How far have you investigated this new avenue? It seems to me like Drs are just beginning to maybe get it figured out a little bit. Call the Pain Specialist and ask if they take it. The worst they can say is No.

I too live in Missouri. I don't go through a Pain Management doctor for my pain meds since all they really push is the expensive steroid inj's that just don't work. It's getting harder and harder to get pain meds from pain management doctors so more and more primary care doctors are prescribing pain meds. My husbands pcp and my pcp took over our pain meds. It's not true that a pcp can't prescribe pain meds. As long as they have a DEA# there are no restrictions. Now some pcp that don't want the extra paperwork involved will lie and say they can't precribe but they most certainly can if they kept their DEA#. My sister manages a pain clinic, I've had several pain doctors but I really prefer my PCP, she doesn't try and get me to just do the $1500 inj's. A PCP is a lot cheaper office visit as well.

I have been taking meds for severe lower back pain. I have been on meds for 7 years. I have been able to function with the meds and live a half way normal life. There are still things I can't do but for the most part I am able to somewhat function. I have been trying to find a doctor in the kc area my doctor has decided not to treat me and all i can find are drs who do only inj's. I have done the inj's for several years that gave me no relief, I have a tins unit it does not help. I know what has worked and meds are about the only way I can function. If anyone can help me I would be so great full. I have never abused my meds I only take what I need so a 30 day script will last me more than 30 day's. If anyone can help please share a name and number of a doctor who can help and that is taking new patients.

Kat, you are close to two very excellent consulting hypnotists and instructors of hypnosis. Look in the phone book and give them a call. Ask them if they know how to re-create pain medication or 'numb' certain body parts for you. If they say yes, you will need a referral from ANY licensed professional, i.e., chiropractor, psychologist, podiatrist, etc., etc. It should take no more than 3 sessions. Make sure they put time limits on it, like 23 hours/day so you will know you still have it but don't need pain meds. You are wasting your money on what doesn't work so do something that does work and has a very long track record of working. One i**** I know numbed a lady's knee that needed total replacement and thought she had done very well when in fact, she did great harm to her client.

Rhonda, since you have done the previous, call the Interventional Radiologists at your local hospital. They can put a gel between the discs that are rubbing together to stop that pain. How often will they do that? I don't know. The final last step is a back fusion which I would not wish on my worst enemy. Pain meds are a temporary solution to a long term problem. I know. I have it.
