I am 36 yr old female diagnosed with ADD 2 yrs ago. I was originally on 30mg of vyvanse and that was great. I had to stop taking it bc I was pregnant. I was put back on it a month ago after being off of it for a year and it was not the same. It only worked for a couple hrs and I lost appetite. So dr put me on concerta. This is my second day and I dont like it. It takes forever to kick in and it makes me angry and so sleepy. Will this change? Is this common? Is the dose to low or high? (34mg) I am thinking low bc I cant concentrate at all and Im tired all day. Thanks

I'm assuming you meant the 36mg extended release tablet?

That is actually one of the higher dosages, the next would be the highest daily dose at 54mgs.

Since it is an extended release, it is not going to start working immediately, this means that the medication is slowly released throughout the day.

And the irritability and drowsiness can be common side effects, which should taper off in a few weeks, as your body adjusts to the medication.

If it is very severe then you should consult with your doctor, as this may not be the right medication for you.
