Is Ict Ethical The Maker Of Wellbutrin Xl 2013

I have tried at least 15 meds over many years for major depression & wellbutrin is the only one that ever worked. The immediate release and the SR versions increased my problems w/anxiety, so the Dr. put me on 2pills in am of the XL 150 mg. version, and it has helped me have a life, not commit suicide, etc. Since insurers no longer want to pay for brand-name, I also tried wellbutrin XL150 mg, 2 pills in am from all 4 of the remaining generic mfgs , over the course of at least 6 mos. Felt pretty bad but hung on as I thot there was a lite at the end of the tunnel.

3 generics hd no effect, 1 had at most a quarter of the efficacy of the brand name. I don't have the name of the better one at hand, but when I find it I could post it here...Now I have a new HMO and they won't give me the brand unless I pay $700.plus per month! I am not poor, so would not qualify for any assistance, tho if I paid that price for very long, I would become impoverished. The brand name mfg. that I asked about cost around $300./mo at my previousHMO,so I wonder why the new HMO wants more than double that(not that I cd afford either price). Is there more than one co.making the brand-name? Could we get it much cheaper from a reliable source outside the U.S.?

google valeant patient assistance program...they have a sliding scale for household income OR google Direct Success Pharmacy and call them. Brand name pills sold by Valeant the manufacturer for 50 dollars per 30 pills whether 150 or 300's . These are brand name pills. Wellbutrin XL 150 and Wellbutrin XL 300. They are very helpful in getting you set up to get your meds. good luck...

$300-$700 is a lot to have to spend on any medication. But one other thing you could try looking into are the various types of drug savings cards that help knock off a percentage of the out of pock costs from the pharmacy. Tina is also right about some manufacturers offering patient assistance programs to help cover the cost of your medication for those who meet certain qualifications. That may be something to talk with your doctor/pharmacist about on your next visit.
