what is in skelaxin the basic compound, asa or tyelenol?

please tell me the chemical make up of skelaxin. i was just resently prescribed this for muscal spasms. i want to know what the compond is 800mg.

Metaxalone(Skelaxin) is administered orally. Mean peak plasma concentrations occur about 3 hours after a single 400 mg dose given on an empty stomach, and about 4 hours after a single 400 mg dose given with food. The onset of action is usually within 1 hour, and the duration of effect is about 4—6 hours. Administering metaxalone with a high-fat meal increases the mean Cmax and AUC to 177.5% and 123.5%, respectively. The terminal half-life is approximately 9 hours, decreasing to 2.5 hours when given with a high-fat meal. Although pharmacokinetic changes may occur in Cmax, AUC and terminal half-life when the drug is administered with a high-fat meal, the manufacturer makes no recommends regarding administration of the drug with or without food. It is not known if metaxalone crosses the placenta or if it is distributed into milk. Metaxalone is metabolized by the liver and excreted in urine as unidentified metabolites.

This is a muscle relaxant, not a pain med, so it does not contain any acetaminophen, ibuprofen, nor aspirin. Just like John said, the active med is Metaxalone, so that is all that is in this. It is not a narcotic, so it is not like Percocet, Vicodin or the like, that couple an opiate with a NSAID.

As to the drug class, this is a Skeletal Muscle Relaxant.
