Zepam And Xanax

I would like to know the similarities between Zepam and Xanax?

Between .6 mg Zepam and 2 mg Xanax, which one is the stronger medication?

Hello Jay,

According to the National Institute of Health Zepam and Xanax both have the active ingredient of Clonazepam which is the ingredient that provides relief for seizures and anxiety. Zepam and Xanax are both simply the names of the brand, so effectively they do the same thing. If you were able to provide me with the specific manufacturer of the Zepam and Xanax you were discussing I could also give you some differences they have in inactive ingredients.

Since you said a .6mg Zepam and a 2mg Xanax I would assume that the Xanax would be stronger as it has a 2mg dosage of Clonazepam.

Going back to what Eddy was saying, I believe that he is saying he found some reports that claim that Zepam contains different ingredients in different countries. I was unable to find any reliable sources that backed up this claim but if it were true it would be difficult to discern which active ingredient would work better for you.

Eddy you are absolutely right! I realize now that I had opened two tabs for Zepam instead of one for Xanax. I knew that something felt off, thank you for catching that. Let me readdress this question with a clear head and good night's rest.

As mentioned Xanax contains the active ingredient alprazolam and Zepam contains the active ingredient clonazepam, both of these drugs are central nervous system depressants and are benzodiazepines. Xanax is the brand name of Alprazolam whereas Zepam is only a generic of clonazepam.

A few things to note is that while Zepam is confirmed to be effective in children, Xanax is not. In addition a dosage of clonazepam is reported to affect for you for longer periods of time than a dosage of alprazolam will.

With this in mind I would still estimate that a 2 mg benzodiazepine dose would be stronger than a .5 mg dosage, however the dosage of the Zepam should last longer than the Xanax. It would ultimately come down to your body and it's reaction to the drugs and what you and your doctor decide is best for you.
