Xarelto Causes Suicidal Depression (Top voted first)

Updated

Hi. I used Xarelto for a few days for DVT.

It caused extreme bleeding in me. I have a myoma. It was not time for my period, but I started losing blood and clots immediately. Needed to change things every 10-15 minutes. I already had bad iron deficiency anemia, so that is not a good thing. Now that this side effect stopped, I quit.

I have severe fatigue and diarrhea. I read Xarelto has lactose, which I am intolerant to (thanks, doc). So that may explain something. But it does not stop.

Same for the dizzy spells and vertigo and disoriented feelings in my head. And for the anxiety and suicidal depression and irritability. I was happy and balanced (even if somewhat concerned about the DVT) before starting. Only a few days of Xarelto, changed me around. I feel horrid. It's a physical kind of depression, not psychological. I am 100% sure it is a response to the medication. And not to the bad news. The feeling is different.

My doc would not respond to my problems. So I've stopped Xarelto 2 days ago, against his advice, knowing the risk full well. I switched to natural blood thinners (Natto, ginger, etc). I understand the risk. But this medication is not bearable. And I am afraid of lasting damage.

How long before the effect of the Xarelto wears off? I read somewhere withdrawals can be a week. I respond very sensitively to medication (which is why I quit so quickly). Is there any risk of lasting problems?

If you were only on it for a few days, then it shouldn't take too long for the side effects to wear off.

The FDA lists other side effects of Xarelto as possibly including nausea, dizziness, easy bruising, and headache.

Ref: Xarelto Information

If your doctor isn't helping you, when you experience such issues, it would likely be best to consult a different doctor, if you can. There are other medications you can try.

You should be aware that most homeopathic remedies also carry a risk of causing side effects, for instance, since Natto contains fermented soy beans, it can have an effect on your natural body hormones, and may cause vaginal spotting, and bleeding, just like the Xarelto did.

Are you on any other medications?

Re: VerFree (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

On advice of medical friends, I continued Xarelto even with all the horrible side effects for over 2 months. It was better than Eliquis, but not much better. Joints aching, urine smelled terrible - unlike any other substance I have taken - foggy feelings, unable to make myself really function, and felt like I had lost my personality. I continued this until my scan showed that the clot was gone in my leg and nothing left but scar tissue. I have a filter in my vena cava (lower center chest). They wanted me to continue, but after three weeks post scan, I quit on my own, notified them, and started taking a baby asperin/day. My life returned to me within 10 days and I have now seen the veneologist and they will see me again in 6 months. Good Luck but I urge you to take a clot seriously even if lassitude is the result. I cannot comment on suicidal feelings as I didn't have those.
