Vicodin Es & Oxymorphone Together?

I’m taking Oxymorphone 5mg five times a day and it’s barely relieving my low back, neck & sciatica pain anymore. My problem is I have Kaiser Permanente insurance. Ever since the Opioid Crisis, the Pain Management Dept. protocol is to get every patient OFF ALL OPIOIDS.

However, my Primary Care Doctor is much more sympathetic & is in charge of prescribing my pain medications. She has tried to help & support from other departments to no avail. Do you think Vicodin ES could be added to my Oxymorphone regimen? I found some old Vicodin ES & have been cutting them in half, & taking them with my Oxymorphone 5mg on really rough days. When my Worker’s Comp Doctor was treating me for this injury, before the WC Insurance stopped treating me, he sometimes had me on a “cocktail” of medications. However, that was before the “opioid crisis”. Thank you for your assistance!

I don't believe they are making Vicodin ES anymore.

Vicodin ES contains Acetaminophen, and Hydromorphone, this combination is still available, it is just the doses are now restricted to no more than 325mgs of Acetaminophen.

These medications are opiates, so they carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache.

A cocktail is often required to help control someone's pain, but whether or not your doctor will prescribe it is a different matter.

Are you on any other medications?
