Scared! Chronic Pain, Oxycodone, May Be Fired From Pain Doctor.
UpdatedI've been on oxycodone for two years. Recently, I'm taking 15mgs of Roxicodone 4 times a day. I've ran short on smaller doses in the past due to tolerance, which is what brought me to this amount. I got a refill on my roxi on Feb 3rd. That week I started getting a flare up and took more than prescribed. The following week I asked to be seen by my pain management doctor, but no returned phone calls. I called again 5 days later begging to be seen & they told me he wouldn't see anyone unless it was an emergency because he is short on staff. I was afraid to tell the office staff I had overtaken. I wanted to tell him in person. I was hurting so bad and one of my friends who has chronic back pain due to back surgery gave me a morphine pill while I was withdrawing.
I sent my primary care doctor a request for some withdrawal medicine as my pain management doctor was unwilling to see me. She prescribed me some Ativan and asked that I come in to see her the next day. She requested that I take a urine test. I was upfront with her about taking the morphine before the test. She was disappointed. I asked if she would tell my pain management doctor and she said it depended on the results of my toxology test. Of course, the next day, the test showed no oxycodone and another opaite which is what I told her it would show. However, the "other" opiate legally shouldn't have been there. When I asked her to grant me mercy toward my pain doc, she said she was sorry & that she had to follow standard medical protocol. That "we" all just want to keep you safe. Two days later my doctor sent me out some gabapentin to help with my flare up.
I'm suppose to have a procedure with my pain docotor on Wednesday. I'm so scared that he is going to fire me. I am crippled without my medicine. I feel so stupid. What's going to happen? Am I going to be flagged as a drug seeker? Will I be able to find another doctor willing to take care of me if my pain doc fires me?
