Roxicet 10+325 And All Of The Others....? What Do You All Think?
(Newest replies first)

Updated

Roxicet 10+325 compared to Percocet 10-325 MG.

Any opinion which is the more effective for pain management?
I have been on Percocet 10-325 MG for quite some time.
I have been told there are various formulations of the chemical combination that are, for some, more effective than others.
There are so many. Percocet, Endocet, Watson 932, etc, etc, etc.

It is not like you can take a test drive.

If any one can offer suggestions or guidance it would be very much appreciated.

I thought I was losing it! Have been on the generic
Percocet 10/325 by Mallinskrodt for years. It worked
fine. My pharmacy was out of stock and had to go
to another pharmacy where they filled my Rx with the
generic put out by Watson. It does NOT work as
effectively as the Mallinskrodt. I would say 20 mg
will last about 5 hours and seems to have about the
effect of a 7.5mg/325. Believe me, I will not get this
generic again. Not effective!

First off, neither of the products you mentioned are actually generics and Percocet is not the name of a manufacturer. Both Endocet and Percocet are trade names for the combination of Acetaminophen and Oxycodone. Both of these products are manufactured by the company Endo Pharmaceuticals.

As to the tablet marked Watson 932, that is a 10/325mg tablet and it is a generic, which may be causing the problem you are having.

There actually can be differences in generic medications, under the laws set forth by the U.S. FDA, they are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredient. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window and, for many people, it is and they don't experience any problems with the fluctuations in a medication.

However, some people do, because their body gets used to the amount of the active ingredients that were present in the name brand or even a specific generic that they were taking for awhile, so when they are switched from the name brand to a generic, or from one generic to another, it may contain less of the active ingredient and doesn't work as well for them.

We have has cases on here where a switch from the name brand, or from a certain generic to a different one has caused withdrawal symptoms, because of the fluctuations.

Therefore, asking your pharmacy if they can order the other in for you, or trying other pharmacies may be your only option.

Are there any other questions?

Well I have been taking Endocet, the generic made by Percocet, and have had no problems with it lasting the prescribed amount of time.
Recently, the pharmacy I use, switched to Watson 932's. They don't seem to have the same effect as the Endocet.

I thought it was just my system getting used to the product at first. But the more days I am on it the more convinced I am there is something different.
I would sure hate to call a dozen pharmacies asking if they used Endocet as their generic Percocet.
And I am really not wanting to have to pay the extra price of the name brand again, but it looks like it may have to be one or the other.

All I have to go on is my experience with the products, so thank you for any info.

That is true and not only can the chemical salts have slight variations, but the generics are also allowed to have some slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredients.

Has the current one been working for you? And is it a name brand or a generic?

If it's working well, then there is really no point in changing it and if you do get your doctor to change it, you will have to make sure they do a 'brand medically necessary' prescription, or the pharmacy will just give you whatever generic they have available, anyway.

Can anyone with experience chime in?
