Rashes Associated W/prolea

Updated

Had my second injection of Prolea Nov. 2012.
Have developed severe rash on both lower ankles and feet. The rash itches, seems to be forming blisters, and is quite painful. My GP is baffled. I live far from my dermatologist, but am considering making the trip.
Anyone have comments or suggestions?

The following symptoms are listed as general side effects of Prolia (denosumab) injections:

red, dry, or itchy skin
rash
oozing or crusty blisters on skin
peeling skin

Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a610023.html#side-effects

If the side effects are becoming too bothersome or severe, I'd definitely encourage you to talk to your doctor about changing medications or opting for a more natural alternative with less side effects. In the end, the side effects may not go away until you stop taking what's causing them in the first place. So it's really a personal decision of "do the risks outweigh the benefits?"

I hope this info helps!

Re: David (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Hi, I am in the south of France for the seventh year running with my husband for another three weeks but it's been terrible this time because I'm getting awful hives and itching around my chest and neck which has never happened before. i had my second jab of Denosumab in May and I have never had this kind of itching and rash in the sun before. It is making my holiday very miserable. I also developed afib after my first injection last year but was encouraged to continue with treatment. But I will definitely not be taking my third jab in November. This drug has given me awful side effects and I will see my gp when I get home and discuss with him what the alternatives might be.
