Need Doctor To Refill Adderall
(Newest replies first)

Updated

My psychiatrist is moving, I don't really want to go through the hassle of trying to find yet another psych. Can a normal doctor give me regular refills of the med's I'm already being prescribed (Concerta and Trazodone)? It's not an urgent thing, I have a few weeks worth of medication left. Sorry, I'm new to all this adhd stuff.

I prefer Teva over these Ma20 Adderall pills. Can I call any pharmacy and have it specially ordered? And if so, how early should I call them so they have it in stock?

I am looking for a psychiatrist to help in prescribing me adderall. I was seeing a PCP because I moved to San Antonio and couldnt drive four hours to see my psych from bedford, but my PCP is not willing to continue prescribing me my medications, not even my Lexapro for anxiety. So I need a psychiatrist right away and the ***** PCP gave me referrals to places that are not accepting new patients and a place that doesnt even treat for ADHD. I need help!!

katygirl, I assume you're talking about the first visit to a Dr being $500. The first visit.is always.higher because being a new patient the Dr takes extra time with you and they do labs also.

Unfortunately, you will have to prove to a Dr with the medical records that you were diagnoised with ADHD. Aiond even.then there is no.guarantee that the Dr won't want you to be tested or he won't want to diagnoised you himself, which may take several.visits. There are also no guarantees that another Dr will diagnoised you with ADHD. Because Adderall is one of the most abused meds, it can be very difficult for an adult to get it. Although private insurance won't guarantee you finding a Dr that will.prescribe you Adderall, having private insurance does increase the chances of finding a Dr that will.

Thank you for that info. I took a break from it while at home because I could not afford it. I have no problem getting blood work, drug panels, ect.... with no insurance. I just need someone that won't end up 500 dollars to start. I have been diagnosed. I do not remember the name of the Dr as it was many years ago. I even asked my mother if she remembered the name of Dr. Which she did not. Yes I habe felt I needed it these past few years. I've tried like fish oil, even a focus blend from doterra. Doterra helped some but my coworkers complain that it gives them a headache. Because it's a sting oil smell. I'm hoping my husband can get insurance with this new job. When I say I couldn't afford it, I mean we had been deciding if we were going to file bankruptcy. Thank you for that. I will call around and see maybe if they do a sliding scale.

katygirl, you need a diagnosis of ADHD. Have you been diagnosed with ADHD? If you were diagnosed with it, get a copy of your medical records from the Dr that diagnosed you and prescribed you Adderall. If you weren't diagnosed with ADHD or can't get a copy of your medical records proving it, you will need to see a psychiatrist so they can test you. You can get a copy of your medical records by calling the Dr and telling them. You will have to take your state photo ID, sign a release form and pay the cost of copies. Some states haven't changed their state laws to go along with federal law and so some states still charge a search or administrative fee for copies of medical records. You can put your states name copies of medical records in Google. That will tell you what a Dr may charge. But asking their office is always best.

Almost all, if not all drs require patients have routine blood work and drug panels when you get a Schedule II med. There really isn't a way to get around it. Most drs do give patients a discount if they pay cash and have no insurance. When you call a Dr for an appointment, ask if they give lower charges to self pay patients.

If you haven't needed it for 2 years you may no longer need it. When someone has ADHD and needs medication they need it if they are a stay at home mom.or they work. ADHD can cause problems in both settings.

I'd like some info. It seems like people who don't really need addreall can get it. I have not insurance. I would love to know a Dr that will prescribe without all the hassle and blood work. It affecting my job. I took 2 it in college. I've been out of school 2 years. Took that time off of it. I'm 35 with 2 kids. I'm working now and it's getting harder and harder.

Well, the family doctor I had been using for a year has now decided to stop my Adderall prescription. I'm back searching for another doctor in the Galveston area who will prescribe Adderall.

Hello, Marie! How are you?

No, due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, you'll need to keep seeing a specialist in order to continue receiving such medications.

Since medications such as Adderall and Concerta can be habit forming and some people abuse them, it was deemed that their use needed to be more strictly controlled.

Learn more Adderall details here.

Learn more Concerta details here.

Did you try asking your current psychiatrist to refer you to someone? That would most likely be the easiest way to find a new doctor.
