Need Help Finding Doctor To Prescribe Either Oxycodone Vicodin Or Methadone 10mg For My Chronic Pain (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Updated

I have been suffering from chronic pain for 7 years and have always been on and off pain meds from tylenol 3 to 90mg methadone at the worst of any ever taken. I decided to dose down & get off of methadone as I did not care for the "clinic" enviroment per say as I was using more for pain then for addicition. I found a dr that prescribed me the pain meds for breakthrough pain and the pill form of methadone 10mg was what I chose but now he is gone as he lost his license which sucks for me because NO ONE will give me anything, not even the methadone unless I go back to the stupid clinc and I so don't want that... DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DR. that would prescribe anything or just something to get me through life with less pain? I am in the twin cities of Minnesota and I will drive if need be.

I went to a Dr. Andrew Will in Bloomington/Edina area close to France ave so & 494. I think it was called the Twin Cities Pain Clinic He really helped my pain & when I requested, he KNEW HOW to give injections in my back. His nurses were also very nice-alot more than the ones here in Chicago. Good luck.

Hopefully by saying you live in central you mean the San Jose Bay Area because I used to go dr. Jadali in Santa Clara California and he is a fantastic PAIN Management Doc. I moved to South Dakota, that is why I no longer see him. Here is his number 408-395-7246.

Yes and yes and shame on those who judge others. I don't even know why they are on this forum other than to tear people down who are already at the end of their rope. Be helpful, supportive, or get lost!

Knotts, I don't understand why people don't get it either. They seem to believe that they have a right to the pain meds they want at the dose they want because they have been prescribed it by a previous dr. They also have some uneducated belief that the U.S. Constitution guarantees it. I guess they have read something on the internet about a Patients Bill Of Rights and without actually reading a Patients Bill Of Rights and little education, they think that is the same thing as the Bill Of Rights. They think having their pain addressed is the same as being prescribed pain meds. A Patients Bill Of Rights does not guarantee a patient pain meds.

Each dr treats their patients they way they think they should be treated. Drs don't treat patients the same way another dr has, unless they determine that is what is best for the patient.

I live in minneapolis w/ CP....stenosis in neck/4 detiorated discs AND rods and screws in my lumbar. I tolerate a lot of pain by only taking about 10 tramadol a day. I have reached the point where I need to go to the next level which is sched II stuff. Current doctor is a chicken. Any specific doctors in MPLS who will prescribe opiates for verifiable CP? Thanks.

I agree Jennifer! Well said, I also have been looking for a doctor to manage my pain meds. My old doctor retired. I was in a serious car accident 21 years ago. The old I get the more painful life gets. I also believe I have fibromyalgia but to find a doctor that will not think your crazy is impossible. MAPS clinics are a joke. Please help I live in St Michael, MN if you know of a doctor that is not afraid to help their patients. Thanks for any help

I tried that a few years ago.

You get these weird pills from South America with little pain reliever that other stuff that messes with your head.

Is your source for brand name American drugs? Have you gotten them yet?

Mine were green. Beware these!

Tramadol actually works. I have chronic pain in my lower back left buttox and down left leg due to sciatica from bulging disk pinching my sciatic nerve and disk degenerative disease in my spine. I am in constant pain everyday it does not subside and when i took tramadol it helped with most of the pain and didnt give me the sedating effects that narcotics do and also lasted for a lot longer than percocet does! but keep in mind that it is not particularly safe. It can cause seizures and all kinds of health problems so make sure you discuss it with your doctor before you think about taking it. Best of luck to you!

BTW I DO have chronic pain ... and because I adhere to the opiate contract I have signed with my doctor, and use the same pharmacy monthly, I don't encounter any problems obtaining my OxyContin. Of course, I do submit to the blood level diagnostics and UA's when asked ...

Kev-about your part b... If it's helpful... you can still get a "qualifying event" and get ACA with subsidies that leaves you paying about $50-out of pocket monthly.

All else gets paid with subsidized copays....Contact your state welfare or Medicare office. You have to ask for a QE specifically, and be persistent.

Many of the workers are still unsure how to do it. I kept calling until I found someone yesterday-yay!

This will give me treatment options denied me with my old insurance or Medicare. Very exciting stuff!:)

BUT, then you can get a great PPO plan with prescriptions and all.

I don't know if that's better than what you have, but it's an option and could go into effect 6/1.

Hope it's helpful.

You generally don't go to a new doctor and immediately go to the head of the class because... doctors are losing their licenses. The Feds monitor their prescribing habits regularly. I had to go through a ton of stuff before they started prescribing. Referrals to chiropractors and physical therapists who eventually refused to touch it as newer MRIs revealed more and more damage. Then there was a pain management place which only wanted to irradiate me while doing spinal injections which didn't work. Then there was a neurologist. He did nothing. Then there was a neurosurgeon who actually scheduled a second appointment to SCHEDULE surgery. By the time they got around to that, the pain shooting down the legs had dissipated. It comes and goes but there's always a baseline of back pain. Without the leg pain, they felt the surgery wouldn't do much good. Then there was Social Security Disability which took a year and a half to get approved on appeal. Then, my doctor finally felt he had done his due diligence and started prescribing something a little heavier for the last few years.

Hello,

I was referred to a pain management clinic in Edina Minnesota as that is the clinic my internist~went to so I thought if it is good enough for him, it should be good enough for ME. The name of it is Twin Cities Pain Clinic (Dr. Will), & it is VERY good. They really helped me with my chronic pain & at times I rcvd. trigger point injections which didn't hurt. Give them a try. You will probably have to go there once every month to rcv. your meds., & or injections IF you need them Dr. Will is also VERY good at epidurals~didn't feel only a little poke. I miss him as I now live in another state!

As of October 6th 2014, tramadol was added to the schedule III, controlled substance list of drugs by the FDA. So it is not easy to obtain. It came out in 1977 and the FDA has been trying to get it on the list of controlled substances ever since. They finally succeeded. It can give you opiate effects if you abuse this drug ( take more than the highest recommended
Dose. This is why it got changed; due to the abuse and deaths due to over using this drug. It sucks for all of us that really need it for chronic pain!! Just don't over use any of the opiates. Only use the amount being prescribed to you!!!

What are you doing here might I ask? Pain management doctors give epidurals and E. M. G. and try to help us along with pain medication if necessary. My wonderful PCP has no idea who to refer me to. He has said our area is in trouble and that most of our pain physicians have bad reputations. Tried Yelp and I found this to be true.

You remind me of the cold uncaring doctors these people are running away from and doctors do retire and people do move. You should go and do something worthwhile.

WHY are you asking us to find a Doctor for YOU? We have to go find our own Doctors & you should too. No one knows what a Doctor will give you! I have stopped giving out a Doctors name as I do not know your condition because I am not a Doctor! Wherever you live, there should be "pain management clinics". There, they will assess your pain & prescribe to you what you need. You need to go to these Clinics every month to get another refill. You need to check around if obamacare is what you want~obamacare is NOT always the best, especially if you need narcotics I have found, unless you can pay out of your pocket.

Go to your local methadone clinic. As long as you don't fail a drug panel, within a month you'll only have to go 1 time a week.

Hello "Completely Lost,''I moved from Mpls. to Chicago & MISS my Mpls pain mgmnt Doc. His name is Dr.George WILL & he is from the Edina/Bloomington area. He was prescribing my Percocet as that worked best on me, & whenever I needed injections, it was painless except a pin stick! Just look up his name-he was not far from 494 & France ave. so. REALLY, you will LOVE him. He is careful & that is fine, I went every month to either get lidocaine injections from the nurse & my prescripions, or just my prescriptions. Good luck to you. His epidurals are very painless & he knows right where to go to help me move again! I hope this helps.
