Hi, I've been on minastrin fe for 5 months now and I'm still getting my period every month during the brown pills and it is heavy and painful. Shouldn't my period have stopped by now or is my body still getting used to the hormones? ## Hello, Kim! How are you? Not every woman stops having periods, while taking oral contraceptives, so that may not change. Some women do, but really you are supposed to continue having your period during the placebo week. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

It's been a very long time since I've been on the pill. I began a few weeks ago & have 2 white pills left. Years ago, I always knew when my period would begin and one of the advantages of the pill was regularity of my period. It seems, from what I've read, that has all changed and it is now common to miss a period or more. I found this forum looking for info on what #day to expect my period but haven't found anything like that. Do I just wait & see what happens? Kinda frustrating... ## Hello, Rose! How are you? Does your pack have the four maroon colored pills in it? I'm not sure if you have the name brand or a generic. However, the last 4 pills that are colored differently should be when you get your period, within a day or two of taking the first one. The F...

I started taking bc a few years ago in order to regulate my abnormal period which back then was usually a couple of weeks long and very painful. I switched to minastrin 24 fe in July after getting a new obgyn. Everything was fine for a while, I have not missed any pills and I have taken them about the same time everyday. Last month I went on a cruise for a week and during that cruise I took the last pill in my pack and have yet to get a refill but have not been intimate since finishing. Normally my period starts right after I finish a pack but I didn't have one at all. The week before the cruise my boyfriend and I were intimate and we used the pullout method. My last normal period was near my birthday in November. Now it is the start of the new year and I am cramping like I am on my...

Hi! I've been taking minastrin 24 fe for about 9 months now. I've never missed a day, but somehow today I slept through my alarm and took it 6 hours late. Will it be ineffective now? ## Hello, Autumn! How are you? No, you've generally got a window of about 12 hours, before it's even considered a late pill and about 24hours, before it's actually considered a missed tablet. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi! I've been taking minastrin 24e for the past 4 months or so now. I started getting a normal period and then a light one last month but I didn't get any period at all this month. I didn't take my sugar pills because I was told by my gyno I didn't need to so not sure if that has antything to do with it. I take my pills usually in the morning but not perfectly at the same time every day. And this past month I missed one pill so I simply took two in the morning the next day. My boyfriend and I do not use condoms but he does pull out. Is my missed period normal or could it be pregnancy? I've started my new pack for the month so I want to check. The only pregnancy type symptom I've experienced is having to go to the bathroom a lot but that has been an ongoing proble...

Hi, I've been taking Minastrin 24 for two months now. In my second month I had missed a couple pills but made them up and I had only fully missed one pill (meaning I didn't take it at all). My boyfriend and I had been intimate and everything with the pull out method. Now I am 21 days late on my period. After I was done with the white set I just stopped taking the birth control. I have regular periods. Around one week before my period I experienced a weird period that was just spotting. Very light, only last 2 days. Didn't even need a tampon. Is this normal? I'm basically asking if that was considered a period? Will I get my next cycle? ## Hello, Lindsay! How are you? Has anything changed? It can be normal to have very light and short periods, while taking oral contracept...

Hi, This is my first time taking birth control period. I started the pack on the 21st of last month. I finished the brown pills & started the new pack a few days ago. Was I supposed to wait for my period to come before starting the new pack? Or am I ok? ## Hello, Whit! How are you? No, you are fine, you are supposed to continue to the new pack, regardless of whether or not you have a period. Some women don't have them, while taking oral contraceptives. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was taking lo loestrin 24 fe for almost 2 years and it was switched to minastrin 24 fe, so I have been taking the new version of it for 4 months now. it's chewable so I chew it everyday at the same time. but it says to take it with a glass of water and I don't do that. I just chew it and take a sip of water. is it still effective if I don't drink the 8oz glass of water after it? ## Hello, Kayla! How are you? Yes, that won't alter its efficacy, but you should drink the water to aid your own digestive system. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## yes, If I've been taking it for about 4 months with little or no per...

Will I come on my period next month? And why do my breast hurt? Are my breast and head going to stop hurting? ## Yes, that can be a normal side effect, when you're new to taking oral contraceptives. I have been on Minastrin for 2 months. The first month I skipped my period on purpose by not taking the brown pills and going straight to the next back. Now I'm on my second pack and took the last brown pill today. I haven't gotten my period and start my 3rd pack tomorrow. Is this normal ? ## Hello, Krys! How are you? Yes, some women don't have periods while taking oral contraceptives and it's nothing to worry about, unless your doctor feels there is reason to be concerned. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I have been on this birth control for about 4-5 months now, my periods were extremely light before i started the pill, usually only about 3 days long but i had very bad cramping. Since i began the pill my periods havent lasted more than a day but they have been pretty regular, this month i havent gotten my period, is this a problem seeing as though my periods were so light before? ## No, not unless your doctor feels there is reason to be concerned. Some women just don't have periods, when taking oral contraceptives. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. I have been taking minastrin 24 fe for almost 3 months and I always take it at 3pm but I always for get it. I'm starting a new pack tomorrow, can I change my time to 6:45am? will I still be protected? ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? Yes, that should be fine, unless your doctor feels otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking Minastrin 24 fe for two months and was swallowing the pill. but I just read on the pack that it's supposed to be chewed? is it still effective if I have been swallowing them? ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? Yes, that should still be fine. Chewing them just helps you absorb it faster than swallowing, but they will still work. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Have you talked to your doctor about it? It may be okay for you to continue swallowing them whole.

After that have watery clear discharge and every day have wear something ... My estrogen level is too high please help me ## It could be that this is the wrong oral contraceptive for you and you may need to switch to a different one. Have you consulted your doctor about the problem? The FDAl lists the other typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and weight gain. Though, it can be normal to experience irregular bleeding for the first 3 months, after starting oral contraceptives.

Just started minastrin ... Just took the second brown pill last night and my period is here... Do I continue taking the brown pills or do I now start the white ones again???? ## Finish taking the pills in the pack daily, you don't start a new pack, until you start a new cycle, so finish the brown ones. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms. I have been taking minastrin 24 fe for 26 days now. I took the first brown pill in the pack two days ago and the second today. When is it safe to have my boyfriend ejaculate inside me? ## I've been having problems with my throat for a while now. I constantly feel like my throat is clogged up with mucus and I'm always trying to clear it by coughing and hacking. Occasionally I'll get some mucus up, but most of the time I can't and it drives me insane. I spend most of my day clearing my throat and coughing. Recently I relealized that the problem started right around the time Loestrin 24 Fe was discontinued and I began taking Minastrin 24. Is there something in this pill that's different and that I could be allergic to? Or could chewing it before swallowing be irritating...

I switched from a different type of pill to Minastrin this month. This is Saturday at the end of my first pack and I have had no period at all. Is this common with this pill? I know it supposed to make period lighter, but I need some kind of indication every month that I'm not pregnant! ## Hello, Matilda! How are you? If you haven't missed any pills, then there shouldn't be any reason to worry about being pregnant and yes, some women don't have periods, while taking oral contraceptives. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, bloating and weight gain. If you really aren't comfortable skipping your period, then you might need to switch, again. Last period was on Apr 21st. Started Minastrin 24 Fe on Apr 25. Bled for 22 days straight. Stopped taking pill on May 19th. No real period since. Has anyone had issues like this? Help please? ## Hello, Lor! How are you? Have you had a period, yet? The bleeding like that can be normal, when you first start a hormonal contraceptive, such side effects usually last about 3 months, or so and taking it for a bit, then abruptly stopping, could throw your hormones off balance, so your cycle could be off. ## I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. MINASTRIN 24 FE MADE ME BLEED FOR 25 DAYS. CALL YOUR PHYSICIAN, AND STOP USING IT.

I used to bleed clots the 1/2 size of the palm of my hand, cramp and lay in bed 2 weeks, wear adult diapers over my pads and tampons, be extremely unpredictable with emotions and thoughts from minute to minute. I suffered like this from age 14-28. No pills worked. I got diagnosed with an ovarian tumor, and within the surgical removal my OB found Endometriosis and PCOS, double whammy. Then I met Loestrin . 100% changedy life! It was like curing a chronic DISEASE!!!!! Now I'm forced, like the rest of you, to get on Minastrin. I absolutely approached it open mindedly but had a tiny bit of fear. I tried to ignore the pill and the fact it was new just so I was sure I wasn't psyching myself out. ============= 2 MONTHS into MINASTRIN======= •••Vaginal discharge/ yeast...

I have been on loestrin 24fe for about 8 years now. I loved it. No period and no problems with weight gain. Now that I have had to switch I am moody and gaining weight. This is problem because I am in fitness. All the exercise is not helping the moodiness or weight. I don't like this pill at all!! ## Hi Ale, Sorry to hear about your problems with minastrin. Both medications are said to contain the same active ingredients (norethindrone acetate + ethinyl estradiol + ferrous fumarate), so I'm thinking any noticeable differences (that may be having a negative effect) could probably be found in the list of "inactive ingredients" - otherwise known as binders/fillers. However, in cases like this it may be a good idea to speak with your doctor or gynecologist about having your ...
