I was recently switched from Glyburid-Metformin to Metformin HCL 500 MG - I have been experiencing frequent migrane headaches (daily) and have put on over 5 lbs in 2 weeks. Also my blood sugar numbers are higher especially in the morning. Only benefit is that there have been no more low readings.

Have you consulted your doctor?

Suddenly stopping any medication that you've been taking for a long period of time may result in some withdrawal and rebound effects, which may explain your symptoms, but you should talk to your doctor about it, to be certain.

Has there been any improvement, yet?

I switched back two days ago. Headaches still happening but not nearly as severe. Low sugar reading happened once.
